I'm in the middle of a small project, that if I get off my butt tomorrow, will be finished.

Hello there, people with crafting skills:

Have any of you ever worked with paper clay? I'm trying to figure out if it'll be a good medium to craft parts of props with (like, the decorations on the pommel or crossguard of a sword).

littl3chocobo 05-24-2013 04:56 PM

what the heck is paper clay?

Espy 05-24-2013 05:46 PM

Paper clay would be this stuff, and given the stuff in the website, I'm gonna assume I can use it.

littl3chocobo 05-24-2013 06:20 PM

so preemoulded clay XD

Espy 05-24-2013 06:30 PM

...Wait what? I don't see what you mean by that.

littl3chocobo 05-24-2013 07:47 PM

it looks and plays exactly like my polymer only it is already moulded into blocks

Espy 05-24-2013 08:31 PM

Well, packaged clay is usually molded into blocks. But that stuff feels really damn light. I'm just worried the paint won't stick to it.

Tiva 05-24-2013 09:27 PM

Someone on Etsy makes wedding toppers out of paper clay, she paints them and they are super light. I think you could but I have no personal experience with it.

Poggio 10-09-2013 09:38 PM

-snickers at the word buttresses-
so I am a crafter. I am currently trying to teach myself how to make jewelry.

littl3chocobo 10-09-2013 11:56 PM

i am a hobbyist XD

Poggio 10-09-2013 11:56 PM

I dunno xD you make more clay things then I do.

Echo-chan713 10-24-2013 06:18 PM

I do a little of everything: draw, knit, crochet, paint, clay sculpt, etc

Saiyouri 10-24-2013 06:20 PM

I plan on trying to make plushies of Sherlock and Watson for christmas this year. And maybe 2 Star Wars characters and two Dr. Who's as well if things go well. Finally getting back into crafting again.

Angel Spirit Girl 11-11-2013 10:53 PM

I should work on some of the arts and crafts projects I have, but I hang out on line and lurk instead.

Saiyouri 11-12-2013 04:53 PM

I cut out all patterns and got one of the plushies fully cut out already. Now to stitch the first one and buy more items to finish them all off. I'm actually scared to do this. It's been so long since I made anything at all that it's kinda scary. I'm hoping to stitch up the first one today, well start to stitch it up. I don't know about doing him all up in one day yet.

Angel Spirit Girl 11-12-2013 10:03 PM

Good luck on your project. <3 You will have to show us pictures when you are done.

Saiyouri 11-12-2013 11:34 PM

Will do. I tried to stitch one today but forgot the scissors and one of my cats took a nap on my lap so I couldn't since I was going to use that time stitching so I had to just skip it for the day. So I'm hoping tomorrow is a better day to do it.

Angel Spirit Girl 11-12-2013 11:46 PM

Awww! Cute! <3 How sweet not to disturb a sleeping kitty.

Saiyouri 11-13-2013 10:53 PM

I feel bad if I do. And he's a boy so they don't normally like attention so I have to spend as much time enjoying the cuddles before I get him fixed. Which I hope to be soon because I don't want him peeing all over the house come spring ; ;

Lawtan 11-13-2013 11:44 PM

Umm...anyone have advice for snow-covered wood.
*accidentally left my wood out when it started snowing...*
Feel free to say "idiot" - I say "rushed at the wrong time"

Angel Spirit Girl 11-16-2013 06:22 PM

I guess you have already brought your wood in and dried it?

I hope it did not split on you.

Lawtan 11-16-2013 07:56 PM

It hasn't...yet...

Angel Spirit Girl 11-16-2013 08:15 PM

My brother made some post modern wood art sculpture at college and it spit a big crack in it.

All I know it that wood needs to be well dried. Good luck.

Lawtan 11-16-2013 08:25 PM

Thank you
*bows*

Angel Spirit Girl 11-16-2013 08:46 PM

What do you want to make with it? And what kind of tree did it come from?

Sora 01-23-2014 04:56 PM

Woah, it's been awhile hasn't it? Hope everyone hasn't ran away forever. :c

Fauxreal 01-24-2014 02:14 AM

Nope I'm still here! I wonder why this didn't show up in my list of places to post! I suppose I have been gone a while.

Lawtan 01-24-2014 03:06 AM

*Is running a song called "Away"* What?

Saiyouri 01-24-2014 10:25 PM

Well I'm still here, in the shadows though.

I've been cross stitching again. Got one thing done, almost done with a second and even will finish the third that I want to kill myself with sometime this year.

Made 3 plushies too.

Fauxreal 01-25-2014 01:16 AM

I think there must have been some creative energy in the new moon because everyone I know is starting something new!

Lawtan 01-25-2014 09:36 AM

-Started Dream Diary (because dreams of mine play like short stories) and drawing again...anyway, to work!

Fauxreal 01-25-2014 02:17 PM

See! Everyone is starting new things! I should get started on a Dream Diary. And more drawing!

But I'm cross stitching something at the moment so. There is that.

Lawtan 01-25-2014 10:40 PM

Yay, cross-stitching.
Yay, Homework done!

Fauxreal 01-25-2014 11:59 PM

Omg - yes! Homework done is the BEST!!! <3

femme gauche 02-16-2014 01:33 AM

Hello to this thread! I love yarny crafts - knitting, crochet, a little bit of spinning - and pick up other simple crafts from time to time, as well. I see that it has been a bit since the last post in here... Hopefully it gets more activity than this!

Fauxreal 02-16-2014 10:48 PM

Femme, You should post a picture or two of what you have done! <3
