Coda is sex... but the difficulty... soooooo higggghh D8

Ooooo if we can have a live chat room of sorts with a "game bot" we CAN combine the A-Z threads into ONE.

In my country, we play a game called "Boy, Girl, Animal, Place, thing"

The leader calls a letter and everyone playing has to fill out the categories with something that starts with that letter. The leader does it too.

When the leader is finished, EVERYONE has to stop and put down their pens, whether finished or not and compare answers.

10 pts for a unique word
5 pts if 2 people have the same word
0 pts if more than 2 people have the same word or no word written

it goes on til every player has a turn being the leader. The one with the most points wins!!!

Lucid: 10-09-2010 10:17 PM

I haven't looked at a lot of the charities, but 10,000 Cat Paws is more like a charity where you get a donation when you deserve it. it's not necessarily about being lucky in a contest, but just about working for it. it's a more fair charity that way.

and why does it matter where the crosswords or sudoku is? if it's in a charity you earn more for it than if it's just a game to pass the time, anyway? ;D

I wasn't being completely serious when I said that our two games could take the place of the games thread. but if anyone's going to claim to have brain-stimulating activity, it's not going to be the games thread.

Coda 10-09-2010 10:23 PM

I'm strongly against the idea that a thread should be locked just because the initial question was answered. If the thread's purpose is served, it'll bury itself on page 2; if the thread is still serving a purpose, it'll keep itself alive.

Edit: >.> And leave the thread title something useful so people who are looking for the same answer can find it!

Illusion 10-09-2010 10:29 PM

Ok here's my feedback on this...

1. GREAT IDEA! To cut the amount will help balance out the system, making aurum is far to easy because of the forum. But only 2 aurum from a simple post!? Why not cut the amount by at least 25%?

2. The thing that makes this not help out the balance out the system is that you can make more aurum anywhere else. So there will be more spam for gold, and the prices in the market won't change (there might be a small drop, but the prices are very right now as it is.) So it will encourage people to either spam or actualy get into a conversation.

3. I enjoy it as it is, I asked for the game forum (Wasn't I the first person to ask for it?) Well I asked for the game forum just for this reason so its much more easier to get aurum.

my bad then Coda ^^; used to sites just locking a thread after it had it's basic use

Coda 10-09-2010 10:34 PM

I know, it's pretty common, and it annoys the mess out of me. :P

@Illusion: We're not trying to rebalance the economy; it seems pretty healthy right now. But if you want to earn aurum, there's ways to do it besides participating in counting to a million.

Illusion 10-09-2010 10:40 PM

But counting to a million is so much fun!! D= (Not really, I only play that when no one else is posting in other threads.)

Yami 10-09-2010 10:51 PM

So from reading through the thread it sounds like you guys are wanting feedback on this. If that's not the case then please ignore me xD But in case it is, here's my two cents:

I agree the games can do with less aurum per post than other threads. In most of them, there's not as much content. I do disagree with those who say NONE of the games threads have content--some do, and take creative thought. I like those : )

I do think that, personally, I'd maybe put the aurum for a decently-long post at around 10? Where as right now it's at 4. I think that's more fair, because yes, you want people to post in meaningful discussions more than in the games forum, but there are some days when I come home exhausted and I don't want to get into a conversation because I'm not great company at the moment and will probably go to bed fairly quickly. I'd still like to be able to interact with the community on a more basic level (playing games) and get a halfway-decent aurum reward for it. Like the Ask the Person Below You A Question game--that's meaningful because you have to actually read the above question, think about it, answer it, and then come up with a question for the next person. But at the same time I'm not having to get into a continuing discussion when that's not what I'm in the mood for at the moment. You know? : )

Another thought is one that I've seen done on other avatar sites--you make the forum rules so that the content-less games aren't allowed. The basic rule is, if the answer would always be the same for anyone posting (ie. what time is it, count to a million) then it's spam--you can't have that thread. If a counting thread is at 57, no matter who comes in and posts next they're going to say 58. So that's spam, because there's no originality. On the other hand, if you have to use the number in a sentence--"So-and-so is number 58 on such-and-such sports team"--then there's content because you have to actually think about it, and different people would put different answers.

Basically it makes the games so that they require more time, thought, and energy to play--thus making it fair to reward posters more highly.

Anyway, this is just my two cents. If the games forum stays as it is I'm not going to be ridiculously upset. But I do think it would be nice if, in the end, either the cap was raised a bit, or even full aurum could be returned (or maybe half?) if you implement the suggestion I just mentioned as far as the rules go. But all of this is just feedback and suggestions. I'm not trying to force it on anyone : )

EDIT: o.o I made over 51 aurum for this post. I didn't know that was possible xD

Jurinjo 10-09-2010 10:56 PM

i agree with the aurum reward reduction.
Crosswords sound fun, but not as challenging where looking up an answer is more readily at my fingertips so probably not earning much out of that if anything. Sudoku always takes too much time ugh xD

It would be cool to see some kind of actiony game on an avaar site for once. I think Rolia has something to sort of fill that...at least you have to be more activly attentive. But like a shooter or something relating to the Trisphee world. That was completely off topic, so if someone wants to say their mind on it. Another thread >>

Anyways I like Yami's mention of originality in the count to a miillion post. It might feel so horribly cumbersome to some but I thin it sounds quite fun! C:

Since trisphee has no story yet let's say Gaia (despite any prejudices) just in the story what if there was actually a waterballon throwing game? Instead of silly emotes where you throw them just to throw it. -shrugs- I think its cool. Not like so much I'll demand it though. haha

cheating a crossword is cheap, but I do it all the time cause being angry about it is worse.

I am kinda glad that happen I like talking with people and maybe all the threads I play in will all start to have more people in it. Once the game area started to flood with more games and other things I kinda wondered away cause it was also to hard to keep up with it.

Fulkth 10-10-2010 12:17 AM

Thanks for the info! Though I love to talk! About me of course! XD

I'll have to concentrate my efforts to Hangouts then.

Poggio 10-10-2010 12:18 AM

Although the Games were a great way to make friends, XD Maybe now I can find some more people to roleplay with

Fulkth 10-10-2010 01:02 AM

I don't roleplay though...

Fenris 10-10-2010 02:39 AM

You have to look at it from our point of view to guys. Trisphee is primarily a 15+ community. We do have a few people younger but the site itself was aimed at a slightly older crowd than most avi sites. We expect a level of maturity that other sites don't. This is included in posting and what not. Games should not be a reward because it promotes spamming and its taking away from the community. Recently that forum has become spammer heaven and people were making tons of aurum way to quickly. If we keep the aurum amount at any reasonable amount it will continue. That is not what we want and not the reason we made this site. We admins actually like to get out and converse on occasion and what not. But how can we do that if people are playing the get rich quick with the games forum instead of actually paying attention to other thing. We want this site to be more than that. We want the community to mean something.

Lucid: 10-10-2010 02:41 AM

very well put, Fenris. Thank you.

Moon 10-10-2010 03:04 AM

I do have to quietly agree with the word games thing said on the first page.
I've really been put to the test on some of my knowledge.

Totally okay with the aurum drop, though.
Except that no one will probably post in there, anymore..
Which means I won't be able to.

But I do feel less guilty for going there.

Rem 10-10-2010 04:03 AM

My thoughts: I was actually surprised when I saw the Games forum open up the first time, as I had thought Trisphee was not going to implement one at all, so this particular thing doesn't bother me - I admit I did go on the games forum to earn some gold when nobody was on the site to keep a conversation going (late late at night) but it did get out of hand. I support this move. I like suggestions I've heard of more involved, less 'one word answer' word games as a rule, too.

Logan 10-10-2010 04:24 AM

Very well done input, Fenris, Lulu AMOR, and Remmy Boo <3

Zypher 10-10-2010 09:19 AM

Rem: We originally weren't going to have one. But it was what the users wanted. However if the users keep taking advantage of that forum and continue to post nonsense, we'll simply do away with it.

I can perfectly understand that, but the amount decreased is waay to little. Why not try 50% of the original amount per post or even 75% and see how we like it. But like I said before if people know they can make more money spamming someone else they will to get there virtual goodies.

Zypher 10-10-2010 09:47 AM

Illusion: We were considering getting rid of aurum altogether for that forum. That's why there is so little. Which means that the posts in that forum with be even more pointless than they already are.

You can still PLAY the games and have fun if they are fun to you.
I know this is an avatar site, but it's not all about aurum.
The point is to meet and converse with new people.
The avatars are just an added bonus to me.

Yami, that was some EXCELLENT feedback and I really like your ideas. Thank you. We'll take your suggestions under consideration.

Immamoonkin 10-10-2010 10:39 AM

That's the thing. If people stop going to games because of the reduced currency then you know they were ther only to get more money. You can still play the games. If asking the person a question really provokes detailed conversation, then we can create that tread in the life/hangout/CS section. Stuff like that isn't really a game so much as getting to know someone new.

The less currency was created to make users go out past the games, and actually have to post and talk. If the Marketplace is being more chatty than selling, I would like to look into reducing aurum there as well. The Marketplace is there to sell and banter, not talk to your bff.

Sorry about that, Rose. I promise no one was ignoring you. It just gets crazy sometimes with having to avoid arguments. I will look into the Marketplace personally. I don't want it to become like the WoW trade channel.

johnny 10-10-2010 11:10 AM

I'm failing to understand the problem here, guys.

If you don't want to participate in the community of Trisphee, why are you here? If you just want to make pixelated dolls, there are plenty of sites out there where you can do so. Trisphee is a community first and foremost, and a community is a place where you actually converse and make friends with other people. The games contribute nothing to the community. I'm pretty sure that, in most of them, you don't even pay attention to who is posting before or after you, so you're certainly not using them to make friends.

If you want to earn aurum, post significant and on-topic posts on the rest of the site. Make friends and currency at the same time.

If you want to kill some time, post in the Games section. You earn less, because you're doing less.

It's fair.
