The lanterns keep going out on me... oh the luck that I have right now! XD
At least the chances of getting a lantern increased for posting.
true that! at least i have an alternative when i'm frustrated about lanterns going out on me! hahaha! :D
Yep. Been posting as much as I can, even two big walls of text trying to get as many lanterns as I can. I want all the things.
In Target and Walmart they have both the Halloween stuff and the Christmas stuff, but Halloween is definitely overpowering the Christmas stuff. Once Halloween is over all the Halloween stuff will be replaced with Christmas.
Ugh... I wish the Christmas stuff would wait till after my Birthday. I don't want to deal with it.
Know that feeling. I don't like to think about Christmas or see snow until it's closer to Christmas time.
i wish i couold go out for halloween as well. Right now I'm crossing my fingers cause its looking more positive that i will at least be HOME for it.
halloween... it's not really celebrated here in the Philippines that much... people just go to the cemetery to pray for their deceased relatives.
I don't celebrate Halloween now though I used to when I had some wiccan inclinations.
wiccan inclinations? sounds interesting... how do you celebrate halloween during those times?
well halloween is a holiday stolen from the wiccans.
i see... so how is it celebrated by wiccans?
that ... i'd have to internet search. cause i can't remember.
Depends on the coven.
In fact, Trick or Treating was a Wiccan tradition first. All Hallows Eve is the night when the barrier between this world and others is thinnest. Monster and ghosts cross over easiest on this night, and taking the disguise of such a creature protects you from being chosen as a target by them. Those who do not are expected to give something to the beasts to keep them from being a target of their mischevious nature. It is also a time to remember those who have passed on, because of all times of the year a Seance is best done on this night to speak to them. |

No problem... I enjoy talking about my beliefs
And nowadays, Christians latch on to this belief that depending on what your costume is, the witches cast spells on that particular type of costume that they've chosen, and all people of that chosen costume type are cursed for the year to have misfortune to befall them. They may even be possessed by a demon.
I can't even say that all Christians believe this, but my stepdad's parents' church preaches this. I remember I dressed as Heather from The Blair Witch Project that year, and I had to lie and say that my costume was "something safe" like a really tired girl. I remember thinking how crazy that was, especially considering I started being creative with my costumes picking stuff that few would think to dress as at around that time. Like one year, I sprayed a wig with grey temporary spray dye, bought a cape, a clip on tie, brought a fake sword and gun and went out as Vicious from Cowboy Bebop for Halloween that year. |
Interesting.
I can't help but wonder what he would think of the Roma Costume I use about every other year... |
Probably wouldn't like that too much. His father doesn't preach that dating is wrong, unlike this one pastor I went to church at where he actually believes dating automatically leads to sex outside of marriage and will, if one asks, find a person a husband or wife. In which, they can date until they figure out when their wedding will be, but they do not move in together until their marriage is finalized.
All the churches I went to were definitely against anything that could be considered sexy or seductive though. So glad I'm not of that belief anymore. They'd definitely be threatening hellfire and damnation on my girlfriend and myself. |

i really had no idea. i just know that my friend has never ever EVER celebrated halloween because her parents are psycho.
Yeah, it's sad people think like this, and even sadder I heard recently that some Christian mother is burying her 12 year old daughter because the said daughter missed her dad so much that she just wanted to go to Heaven and see him, and hung herself. Also, I had a Catholic uncle who killed himself because my aunt and he were going through a divorce. These things make me sad that religion is so prevalent in society. Sure, religion does a lot of good, but I really wish we could put at least the harmful practices away.
And people wonder why I don't like debating about religion down here in the bible belt...
Yeah, no doubt. Even in the north here, I really don't like debating religion.
ughh,,,
Speaking of which... I want out of this damned Bible belt so badly. |
I hear ya what with people around there wanting to have or restrict birth control/STD clinics, abortion rights, abstinence only education and "teach the controversy" stuff running rampant, not even to speak of the LGBT+ rights.
I've been focusing only on that last one, ,which is the one that effects me the most.
Yeah, genderqueer girl with a girlfriend, so I get a double whammy on that issue.
Ugh... I wanna move to texas...
I live in the midwest where marriage equality has been instated recently, which, honestly, we shouldn't have to vote on.
lucky...
It's still not a thing yet where my girlfriend is from... So she pretty much has to come here if we want to marry.
Well at least the idea of getting married is already on the table for you...
My current relationship is currently Long Distance only... Which is part of the reason that I want to move to Texas. |
Same with mine, we've talked a ton, and role play all the time, and we've seen pictures of each other.
hi guys how are we doing?
Hi. Doing well, and you?
*blushes*
We don't roleplay all that often... Kinda wish we did it more often, but... |
Role playing is fun no matter the type. ;)
