That is definitely positive thinking which is very professional, in my opinion. Things will look up soon!

As a general rule, as long as we still have the files floating around (for crane game items, we mostly do), it isn't much more difficult than making the items the first time. If others agree, then this is something else we can get working on.

Yokuutsu 11-21-2013 09:49 PM

I can understand why people don't want the recolors.

It will affect the rarity to some extent. Like me? If I want the item, I will take either color, which for me means, if one is selling cheaper, the other needs to be the same price before I'll even consider buying it. Like recolors on Gaia. I'll find a way to make whatever color I have of it work.

Note: I'm not against recolors fully. I'm against them costing more than the original item...you know....like Gaia does. Which means monthlies should be 20 or less runes. IMO

Espy 11-21-2013 10:17 PM

I think the 40Rune items we were talking about would be yearly recolors, yeah?

Poggio 11-21-2013 10:19 PM

I think the price increase would be because they are yearlies, there for recolors but cheaper then usual yearlies.

personally given how much time is going to be going towards improvement plans I would prefer Trisphee hold off having yearlies all together. If they do have to have some. Then I like gingers idea not of having one that is 10 dollars but having about 4-5 yearlies perhaps released when the pixelist have time to finish them.

Reyoki 11-21-2013 10:30 PM

Okay, Reyo is going to put in her opinions now.

First off, welcome back to the team, Taiki! I know we never really spoke to each other before your hiatus, but I did enjoy your work and I'm happy to see another veteran returning.

I'm cool with there being no Yearlies for 2014. While there being high quality items around for an entire year has been nice, I do understand that they can be quite the heavy workload for the artists/pixelists on top of their other projects.

I would be willing to put out 40 Runes for recolors of certain current Yearlies. Just to throw out a couple examples, I would love to see the Primal Descent have its main pieces redone in a Violet/White/Silver or Green/Gold/Copper scheme, or the Avatar of the Gale redone in a couple more earthy color palates.

Looking back through the discussion, I do like the 30 Rune price point better than the 40 Rune price point for recolored Monthlies simply because I am a broke college student. Would you include the Aurum Monthlies in the list as well as the Rune ones? If so, would you be willing to put them at a premium Aurum price of maybe 10k? This would give those who are unable to donate at least something to look forward to obtaining by their own means as far as any recolors might go.

Since we're suggesting Monthlies for recolors, could I suggest the Nianshe, Requiro, and Lionel's Pride? It's not that I don't like the colors they already have, it's that I'd love to see them in even more colors.

I love the idea of making the Anka Eggs seasonal for Aurum. They just never sat right with me being the way they are currently. I just don't know what it is about them that makes me feel that way. Maybe it's because they just seem like they would work better as an Aurum sink type of item than a way for the site to make a few quick bucks like the impulse items in checkout lines at grocery stores. How much Aurum would they be, though? Would they be the same price the Aurum Monthly is right now at 2.5k, or would they be more like 1k or 1.5k?

Lucid: 11-21-2013 10:33 PM

I wouldn't be opposed to just keeping the current yearlies as they are for another year. ;o; (or even until we could get another 3-4 new yearlies in April)

Asami 11-21-2013 10:34 PM

I agree with lucid. We honestly dont need a million new yearlies. Just do what you can. 4 or so new yearlies released later on would be nice. C:

Yokuutsu 11-21-2013 11:51 PM

Now that I think about it, I wouldn't feel bad if yearlies went away actually. (Though I'd want the shop to go away/be hidden if they did) Because this is the only website that does that. Nowhere else has yearlies. They have things in the shop for a month/three months/permanently.

But then again...I don't think I've ever bought a yearly with runes either.

Solia has Yearlys. : x

Yokuutsu 11-22-2013 01:41 AM

Well, that just shows you how much I care about yearlies XD

I didn't even know they had yearlies XD

MORE EVIDENCE SUPPORTING ME! XD

Nexess 11-22-2013 01:50 AM

Alot of people would seem to prefer we actually did them in some way Yokuutsu...

Espy 11-22-2013 02:07 AM

I'd also like to have yearlies always available. But that's just me.

The reason that I wanted them to cost more than usual Monthlies is because I wanted all the people who originally bought the Monthlies to have the better deal. I would feel bad re-releasing a recolor of the item for the same amount because the people who bought them the month they were out should still have the better deal. That was my reasoning, but maybe others don't feel the same way.

Thank you for the welcome! C: Also, it's good to hear you and a few others liking what is going to be happening to the Anka Egg. Preferably I want to make it cost equal to the amount of Runes that it was, so it most likely will be an even 1k Aurum unless someone convinces me otherwise.

Areishia 11-22-2013 03:32 AM

1k Aurum for the Anka Egg sounds fair to me. When will it be changed from costing Runes to costing Aurum though? This December or will the change be made in January.

Also, thank you for answering my previous questions :3.

Taiki 11-22-2013 03:57 AM

It'll be changed when the new one is released. I'm hoping to release the next one on January 15th, 2014. The one currently in the store will remain as is.

Thank you for your feedback.

Tiva 11-22-2013 04:19 PM

Taiki 2k to 3k would have been the going price not 1k.
I think that pricing them around the same as what our AU monthly would have been would be practical, in more ways than ones. Part of the reasoning being that they will have three months to try for all five items so best of luck is 10k at a 2k price point. At 1k the price would be 5k which you can make easily with in a few posts a day per month. It is replacing our old AU sink, and it does need to reflect the quality of work in it.

I would be all for a smaller amount of yearlies, 9 is a larger number, and the fun bags mixed with recolors sounds like a great idea to me. 30 runes for monthly recolor fun bags and 40 for the yearlies recolors.

Areishia 11-22-2013 04:34 PM

2-3k just seems to be too much as far as I'm concerned, 2-3k would be more than fine for an item where you know exactly what you'll get but when it comes to chance items? I'd really rather they not be priced too high. Also, please take into account that some people aren't online when the site is active and can't make a lot of posts due to the lack of activity.

The Anka Egg will now become the main Aurum sink, yes, and I can understand wanting to make it so that as much Aurum is sunk in it as possible but when it comes to chance items/RIGs I think it's best to not make them cost too much, a person might even go trough 7-9 of them and never get the item(s) they even wanted from the Egg. However, I do indeed have no idea what the drop chances for the Anka Egg(s) are so I could very well be wrong.

Overall however I disagree on a chance item being sold at the same price as a DI. This is just my personal opinion, nothing more.

No, not really....

But after spending time thinking about this, I feel that any mass recolor releases (for a year) of any item would be a bad idea. Mainly because if you had a item that you liked, but never liked the colors and then a recolor was made with the colors you wanted, you would sell you older item. Now take this to the masses, and a lot of people would be getting rid of items because they didn't like that item, that would effect the pricing and rarity of the item.

If you want to mass release recolors for a year, why not do something similar to what Solia Online does and sell recolor palettes. Essentially we have how many colors? If we narrow them down to whites, reds, blues, specials, ect. Then we can sell special paints that when used on one of your items (that can be recolored) it will change the existing item into a colored one.
There are only 2 problems and 2 considerations to put into this.

Problems:
1. Depending on what items your focusing on, that would be a lot of recolors/work (but none of it is pixeling, mainly changing the gradient's colors but it still requires time and effort.)

2. Making a system that can recolor items/replace the items temporarily. Which involves coding, I'm unsure how easy/hard that would be.

Considerations:
Because of the vast amount of color palettes you could use, one time items for a $1-$??? could be pretty steep yet profitable, but you could make the items connect or link to a item that you want recolored, but if you can still remove it to get the original colors back and reuse that paint item onto another item you wanted with that color, or if you want 2 items with the same color palette you could buy 2 of the same color and use them on each item. That would remove the fear or second thought of buying them, and there would be reasons to continue buying a certain color again.

And if this was used, how would you limit this? To do all monthlies, and yearlies would be a ton of work. Not impossible, but a lot of work. Would you guys continue doing recolors for future monthlies or other items? Just something to think about.

But overall, I don't like the idea of selling recolored yearlies/monthlies for a whole year. :/ But recoloring your current items is a much better idea in my opinion.

Edit: You could also continue selling the current yearlies while implementing this idea.

Edit edit: Also I don't think I've never expressed this yet, but I absolutely love the idea of selling seasonals for Aurum. Because they are RIGS, if people didn't get the item they wanted they'd spend more money hence it's a good way to get aurum out of the system. Especially if someone wants multiples.

dear, that would actually be a GOOD thing, it would unclog big inventories and it would get the marketplace active with items that would otherwise never see the light of day, a stimulated market is very much a good idea

it would be rather long and complicated since this site(presumably) is not set up for that sort of thing, add that on top of the fact that most users do not have the bulk of items here and you are making something that would take up a lot of resources but without any benefit for most of the people here including the site itself

Taiki 11-22-2013 05:36 PM

It was brought up to me earlier about how my math was wrong that 1k does not equal 10 Runes. However I still want to do the RIG for 1k Aurum. It will take approximately 150-175 posts to get the 5k needed to buy 5 of them to get all the items, and that's only if you get all the items on your first try. Over 3 months that's about 2 posts a day but that's if RIG items are ALL you buy. That's not too bad. But we're also planning on releasing commons more often which will add to the Aurum sink.

Again, I am glad to hear that most people seem to like the idea of the RIG being an Aurum bought item. So thank you for the feedback on that.

As for the drop rates for the items in the RIG, to my knowledge I thought all the items had an equal chance of being obtained.

littl3chocobo 11-22-2013 05:38 PM

two posts a day? that is actually really very reasonable >x> i am thinking i am very glad you are the new head<3

Taiki 11-22-2013 05:41 PM

At this point me and the other admins are discussing doing the "funbag" of poses from various 2013 items. For example, an item with only hair styles in various additional colors because of the negative feedback to do a mass rerelease of recolors. I am also still contemplating the option of delaying the Yearlies release a couple of months to have a couple of new items as well.

I'd like to hear feedback on this idea and if there are any specific parts of items you think deserve multiple extra colors.

Chi 11-22-2013 07:27 PM

I don't really have much of an opinion on recolors, I think recolors of any items, rather it be monthlies, yearlies, seasonals, etc. I apologize I don't have much to contribute on that matter which is why I haven't posted.

As for delaying the Yearlies, I personally would be okay with it. I feel if it's a necessary delay such as adding more items, I'm all for it.

Thanks.

Dorian Pavus 11-23-2013 01:38 AM

I like the funbag idea!

Holly 11-23-2013 02:51 AM

I would be in favor of recolors.
Probably more interested in monthlies being recolored.
Unpopular opinion. Yay!

My perspective is a bit different.
As I, on the other hand, missed out on these items.
I've been inactive most of 2013.
Having missed out...
I'd be excited to have the chance to purchase these items.
Even in alternative colors at a higher cost.

To be totally honest.
It would give me more reason to donate.
If I have more reason to donate...
I'm more likely to stick around.

Coda 11-23-2013 03:57 AM

Regarding being able to combine items with different palettes:

I've got a framework in place for tagging items with their palettes. We haven't done anything with it because there's an ABSURD amount of work necessary to actually go tag everything before we can actually use it.

Nexess 11-23-2013 04:05 AM

Ughhh, don't remind me Coda, but see, we totes listened when this was brought up last time, it's just going to take time, we do have alot of items....

silverygit 11-23-2013 04:19 AM

to be honest this year hasn't been awesome for me and having number 3 as an option (Recolors of 2013 Monthlies (one from each month from January to September 2013) ) I would be ecstatic!

Ginger 11-23-2013 04:45 PM

I read through the comments a little more and I absolutely love the idea of "funbags"! If it becomes a thing, I will definitely be all for it.

silverygit 11-23-2013 05:20 PM

funbags? I have to go see what that is about o.O I must have skipped it earlier! *seeks*

Nexess 11-23-2013 05:21 PM

Well it does seem like peeps like the funbag idea for the most part. But now the question is do you like the way we suggested doing it? With having like a bag of fun coloured Hairs from everything or would you prefer we do it a different way? Cause realistically we can do a bag with just Wings too, or Body Mods, things like that.

Yokuutsu 11-23-2013 06:45 PM

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiings.

Yoku like wings -grabby hands-

I am totally for ANYTHING involving wings....long as it isn't too expensive XD

Nexess 11-23-2013 06:50 PM

It would be 30 runes, since that seems to be the consensus for the most part.

silverygit 11-23-2013 07:20 PM

I like the idea: you mean it would be a random bag of wigs, wings, tops, accessories, etc. ? 30 runes sounds fair, as long as the items are nice :)
I know I would definitely buy a wings funbag xD

Dorian Pavus 11-24-2013 12:44 AM

The wings would be my first buy.
Instant buy. Wings & Halo's are two items I always try to colect on avatar sites.

littl3chocobo 11-24-2013 03:45 AM

hiei just ecapsulated the crux of avatar item wishlists XD moar wings more halos moar horns the rest can come later

Nexess 11-24-2013 03:48 AM

Haha, I guess that's true right? I mean they are the most valued things on avatar sites it seems. But we couldn't possibly fit every wing we've had made in 2013, so it'd be a tame mixture, still really nice to have but it wouldn't be everything... I don't think we could fit everything, not if we do three poses for each colour of wings, pair and then separated that is.

littl3chocobo 11-24-2013 03:57 AM

i say as long as the total evens out you dont have to have perfect sets of numbers XD

silverygit 11-24-2013 07:54 AM

In my opinion having about 3 to 5 kinds of wings would make a good bundle!
(I don't know if that is reasonable or not, I am just guessing numbers in comparison to common wings)
