OMG! Pontiff co-op win first try! Most epic boss fight ever!
No, seriously, we went in and normally when we co-op I end up hanging back and maybe hitting the odd thing that strays my way, or trying to attack and then missing because I misjudged the range of my attack (again). Suze was handling all the aggro, for the most part, but took a bit of a beating early on and I ran in for a (successful!) distract attempt. I feel so heroic! Guy is scary though. I was watching his attacks and at one point I circled around behind him when he was locked on Suze, but when I went to attack him I was hit and had to dodge for my life. His purple sword was still pointed at Suze, but he had swung his gold sword around behind him to hit me. I thought it was just an excessive wind-up at first, but I looked up from my dodge and he was staring right at me. Eek. Extra cool since poor suze had to put up with my griping about not wanting to do it in the first place. "Only one try!" |
Spent the evening in Anor Londo with Quiet ganking the hell out of invaders. Was fun times. She seeded this Mound Maker when he was hiding among the silver knight archers. He regretted that decision rather rapidly. :P
Also we fought Aldrich, and he almost 1-shot her his soul spear, but since he kept focusing on her, I just got up in his face with my +10 Wolf Knight greatsword and ended him. |
Holding off that Mound Maker solo before he decided to hide out in the archer zone was a bit of a challenge. I was standing on the skinny pillar waiting for suze to drop his sign again (slight mishap). Had my back into the corner and my camera focused on myself so I could see the approaching ledges. He almost got me the first time he charged in but that I just stayed in the corner and played wack-a-mole if he got within the range of my thrust. He then decided the archers were better company.
I think that guy was the first invader we had. Disappeared a few times, got invaded by and killed two other invaders with him still cruising around. He was probably VERY displeased with that seed since he had been chasing us around for probably a good 15 minutes, you think? |
I tried doing dark souls with a friend, but for some reason every time I tried to summon her my game crashed, and sadly I don't have money for the newer games. >>; So I'm kind of jealous that you two can play together. x'D
Yeah, it's really a whole new experience playing in co-op. The difficulty pretty much goes out the window (which might have to do with me bringing my endgame character into Quiet's world...), but you still have to be on your toes, since you're never really safe in Dark Souls, and especially for bosses, one wrong hit and it's all over. Plus, being in a group makes you get invaded more or less constantly, so the challenge is really replaced by trying to outplay and out-think human opponents. Really breathes new life into the game.
I'd just like to play with someone who knows what their doing at some point, the last time I successfully did co-op with someone the person was playing a 'tank', got killed against the first knight they came across because they weren't trying to block or dodge anything, and didn't use any of their heal skill, then when they died the enemy came after me and killed me. This happened twice, the second time it was four silver knights and I was sniping one of them with my bow at an angle that they couldn't shoot me back at and the person with me just ran out to where they were, swinging wildly, and then drew them all to me. .-.
That's, um... an interesting approach to the game. o-o
We usually have the opposite issue in that I keep running ahead and killing everything before Quiet can catch up because I apparently take my sunbro duties a little too seriously. >_> |
That's probably not too bad a thing as I'm still crap at figuring out my weapon range and miss a lot anyway.
I'm still stunned that I managed to survive the surprise Pontiff Knight guy and the two ghost things that could apparently shoot fireballs. They apparently decided to turn around and come back after they noticed I wasn't following them towards the fie witch. Weapon art for the win! Or for dear life, in this particular instance. Killed fire witch guy, too, and I have his stick! |
Maybe if I get the game in the future I can play with you guys? x'D
That would depend if you get it for PC, but sure. :P
I don't have a PS4, so it'd have to be PC. XD
Thought I'd revive this thread since the next DLC is coming out in a month.
Beware of SPOILERS if you watch this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ifhy9pp1pAw |
<.<Is a Vaati subscriber. Saw that the second he posted it. :D
Cannot wait for The Ringed City. Looks like an amazing finale to the series. |
I'm looking forward to it. There are too many things coming out that month. I think that's about one of five things I'm interested in.
I can usually justify buying a game if I work at it, (and not necessarily that hard) but I should probably finish the game, first.
*Waits for flak from Suze* |
I really wish I had the game now, but I haven't even beaten the first one yet. Though my friend probably knows this is coming out, so I'll probably hear about it when he gets it. XD
Get it anyway. I haven't finished the first one either. I bought it for $5 because it was on sale. In my opinion, the third one plays better and it just overall more fun. I'd rather throw myself at Iudex again instead of dealing with the early levels of DS1 where I still am.
problem is money. x'D I currently don't have the money to be buying games. ^^;
I loved Dark Souls 1. I played it through so many times and got 100% of the items, and the Platinum Trophy. Having said that, I love Dark Souls 3 more. Once I finish this last DLC I'll probably play through 2 more times to unlock the rest of the boss items and endings, and that will make my Platinum Trophy on this one, too. I'm sad the series is ending, but even years later I find myself popping on DS 1 to just run and screw around aimlessly to kill time.
The environments, music and weapon/magic animations are all very appealing. Not to mention "Fashion Souls" is almost more important than the story itself. |
I love everything about the series except pvp, 'cause I just don't like fighting other people. The lore, and the dress-up, and the fighting mechanics, and the atmosphere and music, the gothic medieval theme, ugh, it's all so wonderful.
But Bloodborne is even better. :P |
That's another game I want to get as well. x'D Watched EpicNameBro play it and listened to gamegrumps, and it looks awesome. :3
I don't know if anyone else is playing the DLC, but I have three words to sum up my reaction to it thus far:
>__< Oww |
lol, listened to game grumps, Aron is so silly. x'D
Soul Level 100! And supreme weapon reinforcement! Ultimate bonfire! All at the same time! And not done the game yet. Suze is trying very hard to get me there.
I offically solod the entire game with no help...
I finally got gud |
Here I'd been assuming you were good the whole time. :P
Shhhh...The expansion was a lot more difficult than i anticipated xD
Isn't it, though! I think it's probably the hardest content in the entire series, at least on the first run-through. It took me about 9 hours the first time, and less than 3 on my other playthroughs. Even finding the bonfires feels like your first Souls experience all over again haha.
I mostly kept perishing to the newer enemies, I charged in with the thought of "this couldn't be any worse than the winged knights" I was wrongggg..
I also found out a new dlc is coming soon.. My life.. It hurts.. Lol |
Wait, wat? The new dlc just came out, were you talking about Ashes before?
Hmm..the first dlc, Yes, My copy had broken remember xP i had to get time to buy a new one.
Oh! Ohhhh, right.
I, uh, I was talking about the new dlc. Ashes of Ariandel is easy in comparison. :P (Except the end boss, she's legitimately one of the hardest in the series.) |
Well yeWellt wasnt to difficult, It was just...hrm... The mechanics of the creatures and their movements and the large groups.. All these things were kinda what threw me off, But yes, That last boss was awful, it took me a hot minute to try and get through most of her first 2 stages without estus.
I still need to finish the first one, but farming for humanity...T-T
I found with Friede that my build made a huge difference in the fight. My dex characters really struggled, but my strength build was able to stagger her really effectively, and my pyro just ate her alive from range. Unfortunately, I tried her as dex first, so it took my like 100 tries to beat her lol. Every time I would get to the Black Flame phase, I'd get so scared of her new attacks I would just panic and die.
Yeah that third form is rather terrifying. I spent the first 3 times fighting that form just studying her movements.
So, which weapons are your favorite? I've recently started gravitating towards the big strength weapons and I'm really loving the Dragonslayer Greataxe. That thing is a beast in pvp, nobody ever sees the weapon art coming. I had one guy who kept dancing around a pillar to avoid my hits so I just WA'd and the aoe took like 95% of his health. He was rather shocked lol. Working on Yhorm's Machete now, I think I'll like that one, too.
Best part was that he wasn't dancing at the time. We were all just standing there. Didn't he fall off the ledge behind the pillar and die?
(Says the person who fell off of three ledges and died). |
No, he got spooked and ran to lure us into the angel, then you seeded and he ran back right into our Blue, who wrecked him. Silly man. Invaded us 4 or 5 times.
Depends, I honestly dont have a favorite set... Though im a scythe fan so ive been training around with my timing on the scythes you get in the dlc.
