i still don't understand pixeling or why all the avatar sites use it >n>

daikokunyo 04-28-2017 08:38 AM

Well not ALL use it <.<
Kingdom of Knuffel uses cell shading for example >.>
And Tentacle uses vector art. Recolor.me also uses normal art. But pixel art is the trend, yeah...

idk. I think hard pixeling is cute as hell >.<

uncledaddy 04-28-2017 08:41 AM

zero interest in knuffel, would have enjoyed recolor and/or tentacle if not for the p much strictly gaian userbase...
but yeah I LIKE THAT

not that there's anything wrong with pixeling but it does seem to go hand in hand with the more cutesy sites now that i think of it

daikokunyo 04-28-2017 08:46 AM

ME TOO I LIKE IT LIKE IT

KofK and here are the only two places I'm active currently lol.
I feel you on the Gaia userbase, I was pretty mad about my Recolor.me experience being ruined by that alone, but my college WiFi blocks Recl so I guess it's for the best...

I am rarely on Syndrone myself. I check it everyone once in a great while and get the daily, but do not do much beyond that.

I feel this way about too many sites. Kinsaki for example.

ERMAGERD!
I miss Kinsaki! I loved their liberty spikes hair and the cyber-punk type items they had!
Although I really didn't stick around there as much as I wanted to just because, again, didn't really have internet for a few years and when I returned it was pretty well dead.

Coda 04-28-2017 11:07 PM

Selling a site is often harder than it sounds. If you don't write the contracts carefully, it may not actually be possible to do it legally without a lot of extra headache -- you might have to get authorization from every rightsholder!

dragoness129 04-28-2017 11:35 PM

My favorite of the dead sites was Chiniba, and ADORABLE ball-jointed doll themed avie site! SO MUCH Cuteness! -cries- I need this in my life again!

Kaderin Triste 04-28-2017 11:37 PM

Chiniba was alright. Not my fave, but still good. I also liked Paper Town.
But one of my favorites (I had too many to have a single favorite) was Varus.

McSwiggins 04-29-2017 08:40 AM

I've only recently got into avatar sites, so I was never on any of these other sites.

Moonshadow 05-01-2017 12:02 AM

I just think its so sad how site owners can just pull the rug out from their users. I never thought Ernya would shut down, and especially not the way it did.
Then Syndrone, now that is a weird thing that is going on there. Now I am not surprised by anything that happens on avi sites.

daikokunyo 05-03-2017 02:08 PM

The one I miss the most is WhuddleWorld because it was my first. It was so cute >.< perfect for me at that age, I was such a kid.

Glitch 05-03-2017 06:47 PM

i miss lunaesaga it was so purty

Moonshadow 05-03-2017 10:33 PM

I used to play a game called Super Poke Pets. When Slide sold it to Google, Google shut it down in 6 months. I literally cried myself to sleep in the beginning because of it. All my friends, clubs, my inventory. Then Ernya, now I don't cry anymore.

Coda 05-03-2017 11:57 PM

I read up on the SPP thing, and it's a sad story on all fronts. On the one side, it sounds like Slide didn't do a very good job of managing the transition even before the official transfer. And it's unfair to expect any company -- even Google -- to be forced to continue operating a service they don't want. And the people who tried to deal with it with a lawsuit made a lot of mistakes (bad lawyers?) that ended up with the whole thing getting swept under a rug. But on the other hand, I have to feel bad for the users who got caught up in the mess, especially the people who thought that services being discontinued was a reason to rush in and buy stuff at the last minute. It all happened pretty quickly, all told.

Boris 05-04-2017 09:34 PM

I'm not gonna miss Syndrone. I signed up one day for a friend... never signed int. I tried to sign in gain, but I couldn't so I tried to make a new account; however, the e-mail I tried to use was already in use, but when I went to get an e-mail to activate or get a new password, the site said the e-mail was not used for the site, so I tried to make a new account, and the thing said it was being used.

Moonshadow 05-04-2017 10:50 PM

@Boris: what a mess! hahaha

@Coda: yeah it was just a mess all around. There were women there that had invested so much money, it kinda got weird because they were acting like the stuff was the most exclusive and desirable to have, it was just pixels hahaha Anyway there is a similar thing going on right now, this guy Jeremy started Bitty Pets a very similar game and he decided to close it in 2 months. Someone is trying to buy it but I don't know if that will go through.

Boris 05-04-2017 10:54 PM

Yeah, it was. I didn't want to go back after that.

Moonshadow 05-04-2017 10:57 PM

@Boris I've actually started writing down all my passwords and the email I used to sign on because I keep forgetting them.

Boris 05-04-2017 11:49 PM

That's a good idea. ^_^
