All manner of things, obviously.
rood things, obviously
That too, obvs. *burrows deeper into her blanket nest, because fuck negative temperatures with windchill*
Yeah, neg temps are the worst!
i'm easing off a headache from leaving my heater too high
Try turning on the humidifier, if you haven't already. dry air can make headaches worse.
dry air isn't much of a problem around here. i'm just heat sensitive.
ouch. I know that feeling. But I also have the double-whammy of getting cold easier than most. gives me an excuse to snuggle the boyfriend when I'm with him.
I really need to get a humidifier soon. My apartment isn't usually bad except in winter when the heaters are running. And I can't actually control the heaters very much. I have my radiators shut off, but the heat still goes up through them anyway.
haha, i'm not cold easy. my issue is that my heater isn't very sensitive, it gets pretty dang low before it clicks on, so either i suffer too much cold until it evens out or i suffer too much heat until it evens out
I wish my folks would turn the heat up above 66F during the winter. They won't. it sucks.
These fireworks are fun! :D
I have two of the 2018 decorations, does anyone need one? XD
I forgot to bring an overshirt to my dad's place for Christmas so I was cold for most of it, minus the times I was parked in a chair, with a down blanket, by a fire. I eventually gave up and borrowed a sweater from my stepmom.
We've had lots of snow, and way too much ice, unfortunately. I've got school starting on Thursday and the power just came on back home. Not sure I can get my car up the road though, and it seems the trees remain encased in ice. The joys of freezing rain. |
Though it IS always amusing to see freshmen struggle to climb up the Hill (one of our dorm areas) when it's icy.
I once tried it. I got halfway up before I realized I was stuck. |
My old high school had a bit of a hill and when it iced over it was something of a trial to get up. It wasn't that steep, but given this area rarely gets ice and snow to a great degree, it wasn't something people were used to.
Gotta learn how to ice shuffle. ;). You look a little like a penguin but it works. |
I'd rather take the long way than risk slipping on the ice. I've banged my head enough for several lifetimes, thank you very much.
There's no long way :| The stairs are almost just as treacherous.
at least with stairs, there's a hope for a railing to cling to in desperation.
Railing's also iced over. And honestly, at that temperature, you really don't want to be touching it either.
I used to figure skate, and I still have mt old fall habits to avoid hurting myself too much if I bail. I don't always succeed, though. I was hardly competitive.
For someone from Cali, I'm surprisingly not bad at the whole walking on ice thing. I wonder if people think that if they step harder, they'll get better traction...
I think some people tip-toe if they aren't sure, which would make things harder.
I tiptoe out of habit, but consciously plant my feet flat when I'm walking around in the winter.
You get really good at keeping an even spread of weight on your foot while wearing a curling slider. I took a few nasty spills with those things. Cracked the ice once but I think that was from my broom and not a body part.
What...what's a curling slider?
You ever watch curling? Players have a slider on one foot. That's so they can slide along the ice when they throw the stones (balancing on the sliding foot). The ice is textured, so if you have normal shoes on you don't actually slide much. Players will also use the slider food to travel along the ice, kicking off with the foot that has the grip on it. Takes some getting used to. The texturing is also why people sweep like crazy with the brooms, manipulating resistance and such to get the rock where they want it.

-blinks a few times-
Oh. OH. That thing. Okay. |
Heh. Curling is one of those sports that's actually pretty cool once you know what you're looking at. I imagine that is the way with a number of sports though.
Except for hockey. I know beans about hockey, just the requisite instinctual knowledge that I have as a Canadian, but I still watch it now and then. |
Sounds like fun XD
Welp, time to spend the next few weeks turning the 7 in 2017 into an 8 when I good up the date.
I think you meant goof? It's late Bubs, go to bed!
yup yup time to goof up the new year XD
At least it is an easy number to fix! 2 to 3 and 4 and 5 is hard!
Last year was a pain. 6 does not turn into 7 easily lol
I'll likely mess up the date a few times, too.
