charlie is a hard one, yeah. it's easier to mess up with her than a lot of the others.

I wasn't around when SQ last rewarded items, so while I know the older characters, I still need to collect them. And yeah, Charlie seems one of the hardest, though I haven't tried the twins yet.

I had her blushing throughout the whole game, so maybe don't pick the answers that make her blush.

blushing is good if you want the companion, but even if you have her blushing, there are a couple scenes where the wrong answer will give you a bad ending

I tried everything I could think of... and I still haven't gotten her as an item.

Got Koni & Vera at first try, but still get friendzoned repeatedly by Charlie no matter what. I'm suspecting there might be one or more particular answers you have to pick in order to get her items. Maybe even piss her off once or twice without hitting one of her actual "game over" buttons. Hmm.

yeah, it looks like her prizes weren't hooked in right. give her some tries now and see if she starts playing nice.
mind, she's still a more difficult date than albert or ashley, hence why i didn't question anything being weird until blushing was mentioned. |
I finally chose one that I think was the correct answer, and I was correct! When I first did her, she was mad at me, so I always thought it was the wrong one, and the one I have repeatedly selected always made her blush. Finally, after trying so much, I figured out I was selecting the wrong option!

I feel like the hints to get Jello are wrong because I keep following them and just getting bad endings or Jello's Collar.

I know. That's what I'm following. But it doesn't give me Jello. Just Jello's collar if I pick any of the food items (I've tried them all) or a bad ending if I choose the "What are you having?" option.

Hmmm try the fritatta then, I think that's what I used. Let me try to get another Jello and see if I messed up somewhere

Correction: You have to pick the Tropical Geoduck option. I must not have tried that one yet.

I selected "What the", "I was attacked", "did your parents come from a box", "Tropical", "Cool teeth", "that was something", "I could go for a walk", and "You're such a lard".

Mine worked with the "so...that was something" comment. It just needed to be the geoduck food option instead of just whatever.
Like, all the other selections were the same as you had already listed, mdom and it worked for me. But it might vary slightly. |

can confirm, geoduck is jello's favorite of the options provided, but not his favorite food in the whole world

It does vary. I got my first Jello with "someone has to pay the bill" as final option. The way I imagine the game to work is each answer has a hidden point value assigned to it, and you need to reach a certain total to get the companion, whereas a slightly lower value will earn you one of their other items instead.

there's a level of randomness as well
so there are 3 prize tiers. best is the companion, worst is the shared pool of rejection items in the middle, each date has their unique equippables, like jello's collar and albert's book. which of their equippables you get from the list is random, but if you're getting equippables at all, that means you're not on the right track to get the companion and have to alter your path/look for more positive choices. |

-edit- ok replayed to double check. I think u have to be nice, ask about his mothers, then choose mediocre answers (which are ones that are not instant death, but not exactly stellar either). Being nice then mean again after the mother part also works. |
