Witchchylde 08-19-2018 11:41 AM

Since I went in the wrong direction in the first place, I'ma keep my streak going and head for Tijuana, Mexico!

Derpy McBlueEyes 08-19-2018 01:01 PM

Derpy yawns. All this traveling is tough and he needs some coffee and donuts.
Still, he carefully examines the clues amd scratches the side of his snout, thoughtfully as he listens to the other agents.
"Hmmm...I'm going to....Souf Kowea!"(South Korea)

Veshora 08-19-2018 04:53 PM

Witchchylde heads to Mexico and manages to catch up there with the rest of the crew. Unfortunately there's no time left for sight seeing. At the airport everyone already discusses where to go next. So far three agents seem in favor of South Korea, one plans to search in China instead, and another one hasn't decided yet. Where do you want to go?

(I figured Tijuana was your attempt to get back on track, which is why I decided to send you to meet up with everyone else. The next time any of you players ends up in a wrong country, you can also directly travel to the hinted destination without flying to the correct location of the previous round. We assume detectives have cell phones to exchange important clues.)

Witchchylde 08-19-2018 06:56 PM

(Thanks for the reconnect!)
After meeting up with everyone, and especially hearing the clue about the penis park, I am definitely going to head to South Korea.

Quiet Man Cometh 08-19-2018 10:17 PM

I'll go to China so mdom has company. ;)

Death by Mirrors 08-20-2018 08:33 AM

mdom and Quiet head over to China, where they're greeted by a street vendor selling ice cream. When asked about the thief, the vendor says he knows nothing, but he can give you an interesting lecture on the history of ice cream instead. They also get to see the Great Wall, which looks impressive, but they don't see the person they're looking for.

Meanwhile, bluebird, Den, Derpy and Witchchylde board the flight to South Korea. 15 hours in an airplane to follow the thief's wild zigzag journey all over the globe. But maybe the next destination will be nearby. Japan or something?

The detectives quickly swarm out to investigate. They find a really old, turn of the century newspaper. Shouldn't things from over a hundred years ago be in a museum? The first page shows a blurry photo of a man in a neck-to-knee bathing costume, along with the headline "All day swimming no longer prohibited".

A young girl in a soccer dress nods at the description of the thief. "Yes, of course! She's such a cool person! She said she was going to attend the world championship, so I asked her to enter my little Baek Hyeon in the races." The girl produces a photo from her pocket. "That's him. Isn't he lovely? We've been training together a whole year." Of course, given her dress and everything, you expect the picture to be of a kid playing soccer. But it shows a cockroach.

"She dropped this", a teenage boy with blue and pink streaks in his hair says while he hands the detectives a golf ball. "I wanted to give it back to her, but she said her plans had changed and she won't have time to play golf anyway." The teenager gazes at the ball. "She sounded a bit disappointed, so I guess she's going to a place with a great golf course."

Searching around the detectives also find a usb flash drive the thief has forgotten in a library computer after booking her flight. On it there's a beautiful photograph of feral camels in a desert.

A middle aged man in the library also remembers the thief was looking at a travel blog. "I only briefly walked by behind her chair, so I don't remember much. But there was a lake with bright pink water, so maybe it was advertising some... homosexual boat tours or something? I mean, I've never heard of any actual pink lakes after all."

mdom 08-20-2018 11:43 AM

After my date with Quiet Man Cometh, we buy some souvenirs and then I read the group message.
'Hm, pink lakes, golf and camels. Let's meet the group in Senegal'

Witchchylde 08-20-2018 01:07 PM

You know, I think I'm inclined to go to Brisbane, Australia. The cockroach racing in particular makes me think this is the place.

bluebird 08-20-2018 04:15 PM

australia it is!

Den 08-20-2018 05:51 PM

The pink lake and golfing confirms my decision, and I will also go to Australia.

mdom 08-20-2018 07:05 PM

Let's go to Australia then

Death by Mirrors 08-21-2018 06:42 AM

Witchchylde, bluebird, Den and mdom are fairly certain to find the next clue in Australia. As their plane flies over some small islands in the archipelago, they already see the lake with its strange pink water. They're told swimming in Lake Hillier is not allowed, because the island is under conservation. But Australia has a lot of beaches, and since 1907 it's legal to swim there in the daytime.

Alas, before the detectives can relax at the beach, they need to snoop around once more. They find something which they first think is a duster, but upon closer inspection they discover it's in fact a tail that can be attached to the bumper of a car.

They also encounter a beach vendor who tries to sell them t-shirts. The shirt he waves in front of them shows a sheep on the beach. "Nice shirt! Very comfortable! Make you special price today! Look! From popular TV show. Shirt popular too. Lady in red bought one few hours ago." Of course the detectives try to get more information about the lady in red, but apparently the vendor rather wants to talk about the TV show. "Judges decide on best ram. My cousin has good ram. Going to participate next season." Geez. Well, I guess it must be really popular somewhere.

Several children are collecting seashells on the beach. "We want to build an island", they explain. "Would you like to contribute some shells? The red woman said she's travelling to a place where the locals made islands from seashells. If we make one too, everyone will travel to ours instead." A five-year-old gives a serious nod. "They copied our pink lake, so we copy their seashells." Copy. The. Lake. Did someone throw a ton of food dye into the water to attract tourists - or could there be another pink lake?

mdom 08-21-2018 07:58 AM

ok NOW it's Senegal xD

Witchchylde 08-21-2018 02:14 PM

That seems right, I will set off for Senegal.

Derpy McBlueEyes 08-21-2018 03:34 PM

Derpy sits in a cafe, enjoying a plate of cookies and a large latte, when he recieves a message containing the next clues. He's a little sad to have missed out on Australia, but without coffee soon, the other agents would have been in tantrum city. After examining the clues thoroughly, he thrusts a cookie into the air, declaring, "to Senegal!"

bluebird 08-21-2018 08:21 PM

To Senegal!

Den 08-21-2018 10:16 PM

to Senegal, then! *did buy a sheep shirt*

Veshora 08-23-2018 07:14 AM

The detectives board the plane to Senegal together. During the flight, one of the stewardesses smiles at Den's shirt. At first no one thinks anything about it, but a mere five minutes later Den is offered a free upgrade to first class. Lucky!

After a wild taxi chase that sends half of them praying to whatever deity they believe in, they manage to catch the thief and arrest her. With the satisfaction of a job well done they set out to explore Senegal. After all there won't be a return flight the same day anyway, and everyone deserves a break every now and then.

That is when they receive an urgent message.

Apparently the Leaning Tower of Pisa has been stolen. What's up with thieves these days? Can't they steal something a bit... smaller? Like maybe a sixpack of soda in the local supermarket, where the police could arrest them on the spot? Chasing after yet another criminal mastermind will certainly mean a trip through several countries again.

Returning from Senegal - once again everyone wearing a sheep shirt is offered free upgrade on the flight - the detectives search for clues.

They find an adult size zebra costume next to a book about road safety. Someone (the thief?) has read the book earlier, as there is still a bookmark inside. Upon closer inspection, said bookmark turns out to be a postcard: "Greetings from world's sweetest city and saltiest hotel!" Upon other images the card also shows a cartoon drawing of dinosaurs walking on a vertical wall.

Witchchylde 08-23-2018 10:51 AM

Hm. Well I know there's a place in California where there's an actual herd of wild zebra visible from the highway... but then there's this vertical wall with dinosaur tracks in Bolivia...

Quiet Man Cometh 08-23-2018 04:56 PM

Quiet finally catches up with the group, wearing a China t-shirt and with a new sheep. (Not sure where it came from.)

Salty hotel, hmm? Apparently Bolivia has one.

EDIT: Seems they have a pink-ish lake as well. Bolivia?

Witchchylde 08-23-2018 07:31 PM

You know, that's three things now with Bolivia in common. I'm feeling good about heading to Bolivia!

Den 08-23-2018 08:18 PM

To Bolivia! :D

bluebird 08-23-2018 08:40 PM

Bolivia it is

Derpy McBlueEyes 08-23-2018 08:45 PM

Derpy thinks carefully, then decides to join the others on the plane to Bolivia

Veshora 08-24-2018 06:23 AM

Quiet, Witchchylde, Den, bluebird and Derpy travel to Bolivia and ask around.

A middle aged man remembers the thief. "Strange person", he mumbles. "Bought twelve wristwatches and set them all to a different time. Now I understand wanting to keep in touch with friends overseas. But so many different time zones? Must be confusing as heck!" As the man turns around, you notice he has a paper fish stuck to his back.

Another man, wearing a military uniform, overhears the conversation and also has something to contribute: "I remember the one you're looking for. Tried to convince me we should employ carrier pigeons in the military. Rubbish! Is there even one single country in the whole world who still does this?"

"Probably the same that required an official permission for women to wear pants until 2012", a female student carrying a women's rights book remarks, adding with a smirk: "Well, in theory at least. I don't think they ever enforced that law in more recent times."

Witchchylde 08-24-2018 08:29 AM

What is with the French?! At any rate, this April Fool is going to Paris, France!

Den 08-24-2018 05:42 PM

I've always wanted to visit Paris, France!

bluebird 08-24-2018 08:30 PM

Voyage de la France!

Derpy McBlueEyes 08-25-2018 04:07 AM

Derpy yawns and clings to Bluebird's leg. "Yeah, Fwance!"

Quiet Man Cometh 08-25-2018 04:12 AM

All the time zones is making me think Greenwich. Am I missing something?

Death by Mirrors 08-25-2018 07:33 AM

You'll be missing the plane if you don't decide on a destination ^^

(and why is my hired thief suddenly wearing a cat shirt? That's not professional, Vesh!)

Veshora 08-25-2018 08:00 AM

It is red.

You said, dress in red and dye your hair. If you want me to have a more elaborate costume, you got to raise my pay first.

mdom 08-25-2018 02:21 PM

^it's because of the woman/pants law
it's a French thing

Death by Mirrors 08-25-2018 07:11 PM

Also, oversea territories. France has quite a few in various time zones.

Alright then. Witchchylde, Den, bluebird and Derpy are hauled off to France, whereas Veshora gets a free trip to the negotiation room. Unfortunately the stewardess spills tomato juice on the agent who sits closest to the aisle, but fortunately the airline pays for cleaning.

They encounter a priest who recognizes the photo of the thief. "The young lady went to confession yesterday. I'm sorry, but I can't tell you any details about her sins, as you certainly understand. But if it helps you on your mission, I don't know why she came here. She didn't seem very religious... she definitely wasn't afraid of going to Hell."

A mother pushing her toddler in the buggy also remembers the thief. "I can't believe she's a bad person though", she says. "Gave my little Benoît this plushie. Someone who likes kids can't be evil, right?" The plushie in question is a penguin with military insignia.

The detectives also find the thief's lunch box. All food has been eaten, but the cheese slicer is still in there.

mdom 08-25-2018 07:21 PM

We're going to Norway
where a penguin is the royal guard
or something

Den 08-25-2018 08:12 PM

*packs her bags with a variety of seasons' clothing, because parts of Norway have had heatwaves comparable to summers in the Midwest, but there's also a chance it could be cold* *sets aside some money to buy cheese and other Norwegian treats*

Quiet Man Cometh 08-25-2018 08:34 PM

I had gjetost in Norway. It had a cheese slicer with it. Sounds like a plan. To Norway!

Witchchylde 08-25-2018 10:42 PM

Oh my goodness, I must smell of tomato juice even if they did clean it! Yes, isn't it good in the Norwegian woods?

Death by Mirrors 08-26-2018 09:50 AM

mdom, Den, Quiet and Witchchylde travel to Norway. They hope for a chance to see the northern lights, but soon it is obvious the thief has already moved on to a different place.

At least there are clues to help figure out the next trip. The agents discover a really old phone book that only contains about fifty names. They also find a picture of Darth Vader on a cathedral.

A fisherman sells them fresh salmon. When asked about the thief he says "Spent an afternoon fishing with me. Thought she liked it. But when I offer her to come along again, she declines. Wants bigger catch. Asks me if I know where she can get a unicorn hunting license. No idea. You want salmon?"

mdom 08-26-2018 10:01 AM

I'LL HUNT THOSE UNICORN HUNTERS!!!
