I...er...was bad and bought books yesterday.
XD But also read a little bit so I still count it as a win. I have a tragically light work week, so I'll actually make an effort to do a lot of reading this week, among other things that need done... |
i'm almost done my current book! yaay!
|
Dang, that's fast!
Of the 4 books I bought yesterday, I kind of started reading a little bit of 3 of them. So they will be joining my list. Might just up my goal to reading 10 books this year since I'm pretty sure I have a few others that I started last year but forgot to add... >.> Derpy! Let's read a book when I get home! Lol |
well, i checked it out of the library on December 23rd....but it looks like i started reading it on December 28th, according to Goodreads.... so not really fast. ;)
|
Compared to me it's fast. XD
|
ah, fair enough. compared to how i used to read, it's slow.
|
It's slow compared to how I used to read too tbh. XD
When I was in my late teens to early 20s, I could go through 5-10 books per week. Granted, most of those were shorter/easier reads than I usually go for now, too. |
if i wasn't crocheting, i'd be reading more than i do now.... if one looks at my goodreads books for 2011, i read 110 books. then i learned to crochet, and i only read 52 in 2012. it seems that the more i crochet, the less i read
|
Yeah, that makes sense. One hobby takes time away from another.
Debating if I want to read after work or do crafts. |
yep. generally i read during lunch. but once i'm home, my laptop goes on and i'm playing online, i'm also crocheting eventually. XD
|
I...used to read during breaks at work, but I never think to pack a book anymore. And usually when I get home it's youtube and lounging. But I need to break that bad habit and actually be productive more often.
|
i make sure any bag i carry can hold a book. lately (since fall of 2018) my main bag has been one of those fjallraven kanken backpacks, so i can carry a book and a crochet project, should the need arise. :)
|
See....my problem with doing that is that I will inevitably want to read the packed book(s) while at home and will forget to put them back for the next day.
But when I do have a bag with me, it's a messenger bag, so I have room for most small to medium size loom knit projects and several books. |
ah fair enough!
|
well that's one book down! XD
|
Husband and I ave discussed reading the Witcher series since we're enjoying the Netflix series so we'll.
|
netflix keeps suggesting the Witcher for me. i'm not really sold on it yet, don't know why...
|
Woohoo! I read 3 pages on my break between jobs today! And also did a few other small tasks.
|
woohoo!
i'm working on the Return of the King! i'm in the last section, too! :) |
Nice! I'm kind of still bouncing around a bit between 3 of my new books. 1 chapter in on 2 of them and still muddling through the pre-story introductory text stuff in the 3rd. I could probably skip that stuff tbh, but it's kind of interesting to read sometimes.
|
i've only ever been able to read one novel at a time. sometimes when i have something that's non-fiction i can intersperse it with a novel, but usually i can only read one at a time.
but that's awesome that people can do that! |
For me, the stories can't be too similar or I get a bit confused with what happened in which one. Like if LotR hadn't become such a well-known series, I probably couldn't read it and the Wheel of Time series at the same time because, though different, they do kind of share similarities to an extent, but my current books are different enough that I can do it.
Well...most of them are. I should probably hold off on my GoT series book if I'm gonna read The Dinosaur Lords first. They seem different enough atm, but the dino one is described on the cover as being "like a mix between Jurassic Park and Game of Thrones" so we'll see. |

I finished Carry On and am now working on Wayward Son even though I've heard it's a horrible emotional train wreck and cliffhanger. Sigh. I like my gay vampire too much I guess. As for being bad about books, rather than go to the library for the copy I know they have, I phone around for the hardcover (because soft cover isn't out yet) exclusive Indigo edition (because it's the same price as the regular hard cover) and then go out in the snow to go get it. (I had to go out anyway because I needed pills but I can't believe I actually took a car downtown, and got street parking, across from the bookstore. That's kind of amazing).
Reading through Abalone Summer as well. It's a bit draggy but is picking up now but I think it's a book I can safely send to the library book sale and not regret it. I've been toting it around for over 20 years now. I've been on an art kick as well, and actually did some sketching in blue pen. I don't recommend that, but is has got me thinking more about my actual lines so I don't end up with a spaghetti bird's next on the page. |
eek.... i hate cliffhangers!
i got through the first two books in the Hitchhiker's Trilogy and then i got an email that one of my library books was in, so i'm now reading book 5 in Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children series. :D |
Haven't finished anything just yet, but have done a fair amount of reading in one of my new books. Should probably be working on my older ones first, but it just turned out to be pretty interesting.
|
so finish reading the new one, then go back to an older book. :)
|
Yeah, that's kind of the plan at this point.
XD |
woo hoo!
when i'm done Conference of the Birds, it's back to the Hitchhiker's Trilogy...i have three books left. ;) somewhere in there, i'm hoping for Twisted Twenty-Six. it came out back in November, but i've had it on hold since July! o_O |
Lol. I keep forgetting that Hitchhikers is a series.
Mainly because the first time I found and read it was as the book "The Ultimate Hitchhikers Guide the the Galaxy" which was a big book with the whole series in it. |
yep, there's five books and short story. i probably ought to find and read that too. XD
|
Woohoo! I read a bit more today!
I feel so accomplished, I've read 2 days in a row! Now if I can just stay motivated to do a little crafting tonight, I'll really be on a roll... |
yaay for reading and crafting!
|
I posed the challenge of having others pick some craft projects for me to help clear out my yarn stash some. I got a few really good suggestions, but not too much to keep me occupied past maybe April/May if I really work hard on them.
|
i think i saw that... somewhere.
i have yarn that i'll be making in to socks this year, and this year i hope to finish the blanket i stared in april of 2018. :) and, of course, read more books this year than i did last year |
Wait...you're stalking me in other places, but not making me do projects? Rude.
Lol jk. |
well... i am on the hobby thread here... as well as on instagram.
why would i make you do projects when i have my own i'm doing? ;) |
Lol...yeah...but I'm bad at using Instagram tbh.
XD But...I need people to suggest projects so I can use up my insane yarn stash! Seriously, I'm thinking of pulling everything out this week....maybe Thurs or Fri so I can take pics of just how much yarn I have, and also so I can pull out the yarns I want to use for the projects others have suggested so far... |
so i suggest.... you make something you've always wanted to!
;) |
I would, but it's very hard to find a good, accurate, bronze yarn...
