I did make Derpy. He was the first plushie I ever made too!

Ruby 02-25-2020 05:40 PM

Aww that's so cute! Do you have a picture of him uncovered?

Kaderin Triste 02-25-2020 06:24 PM

Of course!
Naked Derpy! Lol

Ruby 02-25-2020 06:49 PM

What a cutie! Is he knitted?

Kaderin Triste 02-25-2020 07:18 PM

Technically yes. Loom knit (as opposed to traditional needle knit), which I find easier tbh.

mdom 02-25-2020 09:56 PM

derpy is even a site item now!
I mean, droopy

Kaderin Triste 02-25-2020 10:08 PM

I feel like Trisphee is the official Derpy fanclub.
XD

Gallagher 02-26-2020 10:48 AM

any resemblance between derpy and droopy is pure coincidence and i have never in my life taken the time out to carefully manipulate our usual color gradients in order to replicate how i believed he looked from photos

Kaderin Triste 02-26-2020 10:51 AM

Yep, besides which, Droopy doesn't have horns.
And also, little known/observed fact, Derpy's body is actually pink with a cream belly, while his head and limbs are green.

And don't forget the most obvious difference: Derpy has blue eyes, Droopy has black eyes.

Lol

Ruby 02-26-2020 11:39 AM

Oh wow I’m impressed you were able to make a plushie out of loom knit! Loom knitting is fun :3

Kaderin Triste 02-26-2020 12:11 PM

I've done other animals too, but dragons are my favorite.

Ruby 02-26-2020 12:12 PM

Is it a round loom or a straight loom?

Kaderin Triste 02-26-2020 12:24 PM

Currently for the small and medium size ones, I use a sock loom and for the large, I use the 4 corner pieces from the Martha Stewart loom kit.

Ruby 02-26-2020 12:58 PM

Ah okay xD i just have hat looms and a scarf loom.

Do you have pics of the others you’ve made?

Kaderin Triste 02-26-2020 01:20 PM

Theoretically you can use ANY 24 peg loom/loom with 24+ pegs, but the patterns use the e-wrap stitch, which even with a bulky yarn tends to be a bit loose on the large gauge of normal hat and scarf looms. But I'm testing a fox using 2 strands of bulky weight on a 24 peg round loom.

And of course I do! XD

Ruby 02-26-2020 03:09 PM

These are all so cute! Love the shark/whale and the fox :3 were these patterns you followed?

Kaderin Triste 02-26-2020 04:28 PM

Yes. A few have videos on YouTube, but you can also buy the patterns on ravelry or I found a big book of them on Amazon. All by a loom knitter who goes by the name Scarlett Royale.
She makes some cute stuff and I want to buy more of her patterns eventually.

littl3chocobo 02-26-2020 10:51 PM

is the bottom one supposed to be a frog? could a cactus friend be made?

Kaderin Triste 02-27-2020 12:23 AM

Yep, that's a froggy!

And...maybe? I don't have any patterns for them and am bad at making patterns, but cacti generally have a fairly simple shape that I could probably improvise.

daikokunyo 02-27-2020 02:29 AM

there are so many crafts i want to do but i especially want to make jewelry. found a seller of a bunch of cute glazed/enamel pendants that won't be strung on the plain chains i have because the hole through which the pendants are to be strung thru is too small, like a millimetre

Death by Mirrors 02-27-2020 10:39 AM

Can you improvise with additional jump rings or pieces of wire?

daikokunyo 02-27-2020 12:15 PM

jump rings sound like the way to go! i need to find sellers near me that sell gold-coloured jump rings alone, not in combination with earring hooks and so on.

mdom 02-28-2020 12:01 PM

you need a bigger hole |D

Ruby 02-28-2020 12:24 PM

Im so excited that there’s so many crafters here :3

littl3chocobo 02-29-2020 04:42 AM

i buy from here sometimes;
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/evol_cosm...1&_ipg=&_from=

they have single-loop jumprings that are pretty nice ^^ though i must confess i do miniatures not jewelry so i cannot exactly vouch on a stress-test

Kaderin Triste 02-29-2020 01:22 PM

Most craft stores with decent jewelry sections should have small packs of jumprings in various sizes.
I buy all mine from theringlord.com, but just because I make things that take a lot of jumprings and I like to have many pretty colors as well. XD

...I should learn proper chainmail clothing techniques and make Derpy some armor... >.>

Stabbsworth 02-29-2020 05:15 PM

vaguely want to learn how to draw jewelry.

Biomecha 02-29-2020 06:24 PM

Rio Grande could also be a source for jump rings. My mother used them heavily when she made jewelry. Might even have some of their giant catalogs around, still.

Death by Mirrors 03-01-2020 07:19 AM

I got mine from doreenbeads, but I haven't had enough free time to try them in crafts to check their quality.

Ruby 03-01-2020 10:12 AM

Man i haven't bought jump rings in at least 8 years xD

daikokunyo 03-01-2020 10:27 AM

i'm looking for mostly indian sellers, or maybe local ones- as local as possible. but all the stuff you're sharing is helpful! in giving me an idea of the variety that's out there, and what kinds could be right for the things i want to make.

Ruby 03-01-2020 10:39 AM

It's nice that there's so many options these days :3

daikokunyo 03-01-2020 11:06 AM

yes!! things that weren't available in my country before are gradually becoming available! there are perks to global capitalism xD

Ruby 03-01-2020 11:10 AM

That's wonderful! :D I know a lot of things won't ship to other countries still, but more and more are getting there!
Where are you from? :3

daikokunyo 03-01-2020 12:06 PM

yep! i want pastel goth to get here next. and gothic lolita. xD
i'm from india!

littl3chocobo 03-01-2020 02:37 PM

i must confess i am surprised gothic lolita isn't there yet, that is like a 20 year old fashion now haha

Ruby 03-01-2020 05:59 PM

Oh cool! I don’t think I’ve talked to anyone from India yet :3 do you like it there?
I’m american lol

Stabbsworth 03-02-2020 06:59 PM

me, the one british dude:

Ruby 03-03-2020 05:46 PM

oh cool you're british? xD

Stabbsworth 03-03-2020 07:51 PM

yeah. specifically english.

i despise the damn queen though, all she does is sit in a chair and accrue stolen wealth and riches that should go to the people.

eat the rich. fuck the monarchy, it's an old relic of a bygone era just like her.
