And on note of the power of nerds, how would a Dnd thread work (read through the whole, three page thread before posting; hasn't played Dnd before) but I would like to play some day.

I'm not sure how a D&D thread would work if people were actually playing... I know on another avatar site I frequent there is a D&D/d20 hangout that isn't necessarily a game, but just a place for people to talk trade and get advice, etc. That was more of how I was thinking. ^^; |
oooo I see. hmmm... I know some basics, and the GM (were it a pencil and paper game) would've had to type a lot.

In Dungeons and Dragons, the storyteller is called the DM (Dungeon Master). In a thread, we'd need a DM, I think, or a way to roll dice for things. It actually wouldn't be TOO hard to have a play-by-post Dungeons and Dragons RP. It would likely be a bit easier than table-top, though it would take a lot longer to do.

I think the biggest thing would be honesty with the dice, because we all know there is probably some asshole who'd cheat. I know Gaia incorporated some "dice" thing on posts, but that's the only thing I can think of for an online thing. Plus it would be very long, since not everyone can log in at once, all the time. |

Yeah, it would be hard unless Trisphee implemented a dice thing in posts. I prefer setting aside time to rp. Say for an hour or two. You'd get a lot done if you did it that way.

@pisces *sigh* I shun cheaters, they remind me of people who write up the god-mode fanfics. It really ticks me off when I see them develop poorly.

I have to agree, that playing in person is just more fun. Trying to adapt it electronically would take more effort than it would be fun. Eeewww! Bad fanfics! The bane of all writers' existences! But the truly good ones are like finding pieces of heaven, ahaha. I just think cheaters are pathetic. You have to cheat at a game that is half-based on chance and luck? Really? You HAVE to? Just...that's silly. |
