We're working on the front page right now, actually.

Saying we need more active users is like saying we need to exist. A forum is nothing without its userbase but we cannot attract new users without things to attract them.

The colors are actually pretty professional here. We've been through a few revisions and a number of focus groups, and this color scheme and layout isn't any less attractive than a lot of our competition. That said, we do have a bunch of other color schemes waiting in the wings (mostly just a matter of getting someone who has the time to finish them).

You're right about the shortage of pixel artists. That's something we're trying very hard to fix. With that, the rest should come into place.

Fenris 04-02-2011 11:49 PM

Because of the lack of pixelists, I am looking at all the strings I would have to pull to hire pixelists under the age of 18.

Panda 04-02-2011 11:51 PM

I can draw out items, but I'm no where good at actually pixeling the items.

Is there anyway to be pixelist in training? O.o

Yeah, I can doodle stuff out, but I can't pixel. If I could, I'd offer to help out.

Panda we have no need of designers right now. Even if we tried to hire them they wouldn't get there designs done right now. We don't have the pixel artists to do them.

I see what you mean, I guess I will keep on practicing and hopefully I will be able to make something decent later on and then try to help Trisphee out.

Fenris 04-02-2011 11:55 PM

Panda we wont create a pixelist in training position but we have had classes on pixeling. You should see about getting an NDA and attending next class when one of us announces one.

Stalker 04-02-2011 11:56 PM

I would highly recommend keeping artists / coders over 18 years of age. Assuming that they are getting paid for their hard work, of course. Legal documentation as well as other aspects will be easier to abide by if they are of legal age. Depending how grim things get. . . I really hope for the better. I know how troubling times like these can be.

Panda 04-02-2011 11:56 PM

That sound good and I will make sure to look out for that. *cough* By the time I can make something, I am most likely to be 18 or 19.

I left other avatar sites because I don't have a lot of people who actually care for me and so many drama going on. It would be nice to see some great changes going on though but even that won't change anything much. I just love Trisphites!

While it is admirable that you are still with us because of your friends, you should also care about how to help us improve the site. Instead of just telling us problems, giving us possible solutions or ideas to help is always appreciated, as we do enjoy the feedback and creative criticism , after all it helps us improve the site for yourself and other members.

Drama is unfortunate, especially when it comes in waves, but like all waves they subside after they have taken their course. A lot of changes are planed to happen in the up coming months but as Coda has said on the first post, we are behind through lack of coders and pixel artists, as well as all our efforts going towards the Japanese relief, so we are further behind than we anticipated.

Many people forget that this is a fledgling site and that it is still having to set it's roots to flourish as many other sites of the same nature have, after all every site has to start off small. After all Rome wasn't built in a day, it took a lot of love, dedication, hard work and team work to get it to it's peak. With the staff and community we have now we are hoping to build a good foundation to continue our growth into a brighter future for everyone concerned.

I have really been wanting to do something like that. xD Not a knock off really, but inspired by that with a Trisphee flare. C:

Obbiesan 04-03-2011 02:12 AM

I think some game inspired items with trisphee flair would be pretty cool

Taiki 04-03-2011 02:14 AM

I do love video games. *o* So I'd enjoy making things like that.

I need to learn how to pixel, but I'm sure it isn't too hard. Would there be an estimate on compensation so I could see if this is something I might want to look into for a career?

It all really depends on how many things you pixel every month. For example, an artist would make a lot more if they pixeled monthlies and commons as opposed to someone who only does a few commons every month. It's like... the more you do, the more you get paid? xD

Fenris 04-03-2011 03:09 AM

I wouldn't suggest pixeling as a career unless you were shooting for Gaia. A site like Trisphee is struggling to get on its feet and can not pay much. Its a good business opportunity for the future but as of right now Trisphee does not pay as well as we would like. Most the artists here now are volunteer and work for runes.

Espy 04-03-2011 03:20 AM

I should practice pixeling over the summmmmmmmerrrr~ But as of right now, Espy's pixeling looks like pieces of junk that she dug out of her robotics team's trash can.

Rem 04-03-2011 03:33 AM

I am going to look at some tutorials and try to pixel some things. See if I'm any good, I may be able to help in some way then.

Taiki 04-03-2011 03:38 AM

It just takes practice and discovering a way that works best for you. xD Good luck! C:

Chi 04-03-2011 03:39 AM

That would be great guys. ^^
Pixeling or coding.

Rem 04-03-2011 04:14 AM

And oh man if I could learn pixelling, anyone really could XD [/inept]

I've always wanted to try though, I just literally do not know how to start.

Taiki 04-03-2011 04:22 AM

I start by making a sketch in Photoshop on a base of a pose, then on a new layer, using the pencil tool to make a pixel base, then making another layer above that one that is masked to do shading and adding more layers as needed. I use this color scheme as a guide. I use the middle grey as the base.

When you say 'another layer that's masked' what do you mean by that? What's mask and what does it do?

I've heard of people using mask for layers, for shading, but I honestly never ever have, I have -no- idea what it's for. I use multiple layers for shading but I always choose the shading colors myself and paint them directly on top of one another. I adjust the brush's settings for coloring but I've never touched a layer's own settings.

If you've ever painted traditionally, you'd understand the term Mask to mean blocking out part of your painting to greater isolate a portion that you're working on so that it for not interfere with other parts of the painting.

It provides greater freedom in shading, especially if you're like me and you work with gradients a lot.

Layer making works as such, you have 2 layers. Your base and what you want to use above it. After you put whatever you like on both layers (for purpose of testing, flood fill the 2 layers with 2 very different colours), add the mask to the too layer.

You would notice that a clipping layer of white is added to the side and whatever was the too layer is invisible. The white layer can be considered as the white paper you mask with in traditional painting. Whatever is under that white, stays the same.

Now while on the masking layer(you'll notice you're on that layer when you brush colour changes to white and black), try scribbling something with a black brush! Any kind would do, soft or hard. You'd notice that your topmost colour reveals when you use ,black, even though you can't really see that you're using black.

And that's how making works. You can put anything on those 2 layers when you want to have greater control over hiding and revealing stuff without messing with the original layers!

I would like to see more masculine items to be honest, like military armor and such.
And more tech-based items, I'm not much of a fantasy, D&D type guy... I'm more Halo, Metal Gear Solid, and Tron type of guy.

As for pixeling... I'm not good. I tried...but... well look under spoils.

I was trying to model it after this.
