Artemis grinned, "Oh I don't know..I mean..it's pretty serious and require adequate punishment." She was a bit saddened when he let her go, but kept her smile upon her face. "Oh I know, you'll have to watch the most horrid movie ever..and I get to pick it." She winked, knowing just the movie to watch.

William laughed. "Oh will I?" He reached over and ruffled her hair. "I suppose I must. But I will take my punishment like a man. And by that I mean, scarfing down food and making fun it." He grinned. "Pick the movie and I'll get the food." Quickly he moved to the kitchen and went to heat up the food.

She laughed softly, heading over to his massive collection of movies. "Alright..let's see here..where is it?" She swiftly grabbed the dvd, popping open the case as the dvd player and tv suddenly turned on, without her touching it. After a moment, the player opened in the same, mysterious fashion and she placed the disc in it, gently pushing it closed. "I hope you hate The Sound of Music! It's the worst I could think of!" She giggled, placing the remotes on the arm of the couch so they were easily acceptable.

"Ah! You wound me with your movie choice. But I will suffer bravely through my punishment." He called to her. Just as he said this the microwave timer went off and he pulled their food from it. Placing it on a tray he carried it in and set it on the end table. He plopped down on the couch and spread his arms over the back. "Come 'ere, take a seat and let enjoy the torture you've picked out."

Artemis flopped down on the couch next to him with a smile, "You'll suffer greatly!" She looked at the small assortment of the Chinese food, "What? No fried rice? What kind of person do you take me for?" She laughed, grabbing something that smelled really nice. She took a fork and took a small bite, "Interesting..what is it?

William stared st the piece of food for a second, narrowing his eyes as if he were examining it. "I think it's orange chicken. Either that or some kind of pork. All I remember was I got a free sample of it and it tasted great." He laughed and took a bite for himself.

She swatted his hand, "It's mine now. You never steal a lady's food. Now you must sing along with the movie! And I know you know it!" She laughed darkly, pushing up her glasses quick before taking another piece of the..whatever it was.

"Aw, come on share!" He said and laughed. When she went to take another bite he intercepted, bringing his face up to take the piece of food right off of the fork. This action brought his face right next hers, their cheeks brushing. William felt his skin heat. He needed to be more careful. Still he ate the piece of... stuff and pulled away, trying to pretend nothing had happened. "I do not know the words to these songs." He lied with a grin.

Artemis stared at the empty fork with her mouth slightly agape. "Hey..that's mine." She put the fork to his lips, "You're lucky I'm in the sharing mood or I'd take that right back." She winked, barely noting the close contact. She tried to keep those things out of her head. She didn't like thinking that soon she'd have to go live in London and wait for her best friend to wither away and die.
She poke his cheek gently with the fork, "You do and I know you. Don't you lie to me. Now, siiinng~" |
William raised his eyebrows at her 'take it back' comment. And he was rather disturbed that all he could think of to say as retort was that she would need to get her tongue pretty far down his throat to do so. So instead of saying that, he simply ignored the comment. He laughed. "Alright, I admit it, I know the words." A wicked grin formed on his face. "But so do you, so you have to sing it with me!"

She giggled, her nose wrinkling slightly as she grinned evilly, "But I'm not the one who tried to feel me up. So you have to do it all alone~ And you have to do it right..no half-assing." She jabbed another piece of the..chicken pork thing and put it in her mouth faster than his eyes could keep up. Her incredible speed was handy sometimes. She didn't really think much of what the movement implied.

William's eyes widened. "F-feel you-" He cut off, laughing. She was kidding. Of course she was kidding. He bit his lip slightly, cutting off a train of though her words had opened. "Okay, okay! Here goes!" He said, then he began to sing, rather loudly, though not completely terribly, the song that was playing. His eyes caught her movement and he faltered as he sang for a moment, but continued. There was something very not natural about that. It was far, far to fast for her to be ale to accomplish.

She looked over at him, noticing his mess-up and his odd stare, "Something wrong Will?" She doubted he saw how quickly she had moved, his eyes were plastered tot he tv to make sure he was in sync with the song.

William hesitated. He could call her on it. There obviously had to be a good explanation. Perhaps he had even imagined the movement. Yes, that was probably it. Too many late nights of slayer duty. He probably just needed more sleep. He shook his head smiling at his own odd behavior. "Nothing, I'm just going crazy is all." He told her with a grin. "Now, I think my poor neighbors have had enough of my singing. I've paid my dues for-" He cut off, chucking. "-apparently trying to feel you up. So I believe it is you're turn."

Artemis nodded, though she was still mildly bothered by what could be going through his mind. Perhaps he saw her moving so fast. She smiled a bit, then dropped her jaw a bit, "M-my turn? For what? I didn't do anything to deserve a punishment!" She laughed a bit, glancing nervously at the tv. She did not want to sing. Now, she loved to sing, and was marvelous at it, but she hated this movie and refused to sing it's songs.

William grinned mischievously at Artemis. "Guilty until proven innocent, I always say. Also, you, my dear sweet Artemis, have a fabulous singing voice My singing could never compare." He told her in a sweet voice, fluttering his eyelashes in a very over dramatic way.

Artemis stared at him oddly, "But..I.." She sighed a bit, yet with a smile, "Well when you put it that way. I guess I can't refuse." She glanced to the tv, waiting for the next song to start and sang along with it. Halfway through, she stopped no longer able to tolerate the movie. "There, I have served my punishment." She laughed a bit, taking the last piece of chicken/pork and popping it in her mouth with a smile.

William closed his eyes for a moment, listening to her sing. He loved her voice, even as she sung a rather irritating song. When she stopped he laughed at her comment about punishment and nodded. "Yes, you've certainly done your time." He glanced at the screen seeing the movie was coming close to the end. "It's late, and you're probably tired. You can take the bed and use some of my cloths to sleep in. Shower if you want, too." He said casually. She was his closest friend, and to him his home was as good as her home.

Being a vampire, she did not require sleep like a human. Now, that's to say she didn't require it at all, but she could go a few weeks at a time without any sleep. She smiled slightly at William, "I'm not all that tired, but I'd rather sleep on the couch. I just find them more to my preferences." She patted the couch with a soft chuckle, "The only way I'm getting in that bed is if you make me." She wanted to wink, but felt the action might be strange. Her eye did twitched ever so slightly a few times as she resisted the urge.

One of William'a eyebrows raised dramatically at her words and her eyes twitch. He laughed, a low, amused sound. "I think you might be more tired than you thought, considering your eye just twitched." He laughed again then grinned. "Is that a challenge?" He asked her in dangerously mischievous voice, as he tried desperately not to think about the double meaning in her words. There was no way she had meant it that way. So, in response to the challenge William slide his arms under her, lifted her up into his arms and made his way to his bedroom.

"It's me resisting the urge to wink, really." She let out a gasp as he suddenly picked her up, "So a challenge it is!" She laughed, pondering how to best dispel herself from his arms. After a few moments, she decided she really rather liked it up there. It was..comfortable? Either way, they were already just outside his room by now. She crossed her arms in a fake pout and continued to let him move her, "Well I suppose if you're going to do it like that."

William laughed at her pouting face, but didn't say anything. He continued through to his room and then without much gentleness, considering it wasn't really needed with his bed being so soft, dropped her onto the bed. Then he proceeded let himself fall onto the bed beside her, his face in the soft sheets and one arm going around her waist, trapping her on the bed. "You're not getting out of this one princess." He said with a playful smirk.

Artemis let out another gasp as she was suddenly finding herself falling to the bed. She hit it with a slight 'oopmh' but was laughing nonetheless. "Oh am I?" She gave him a sly look, turning her head to look at him. She was slightly taken aback by how close his face really was to hers, "I think I can wiggle out of here.." She winked, gently grabbing his wrist and moving it slightly, "But you know, seeing as you worked so hard to get me here, I might just have to stay here. You'll just have to keep me trapped here though, otherwise I might slip onto the couch."

William laughed, though he was starting to feel a little... funny. He knew he should back off now, laugh of their jokes and make sure to keep at least a foot distance for an hour or two. But none of that sounded like any fun, so instead he tightened his grip around her waist and said, "I think you're probably right, after all, you're a full time job it seems like." He smiled and moved his head slightly, so his mouth nearly rested on her shoulder. It was very, very close, but not quite there. "Though I should have let you change your cloths first, because if I have anything to say about it then you'll be staying here the whole night." In truth he hadn't thought of how his words could be taken when he said them, though now that double meaning swam through his head, warming his cheeks a little.

Artemis blinked in surprise feeling his arm tighten around her. She rather liked the feeling, but had no idea he was going to do it. She couldn't help but turn a slight pink as he moved his face to just next to her shoulder. "But, if you let me go to do that, I still might slip away to that comfy couch. It calls to me, you know. 'Come, sleep!'." She laughed slightly, quietly taking a swift sniff. William always smelled pleasant.

William laughed. "Oh, I see how it is. You'd choose the couch over me. Your poor lonely best friend, who would end up just lying here. All alone. But that's okay. I understand." He said with extremely dramatized and fake anguish in his tone. Whatever he said about understanding, he wasn't about the loose his hold. He liked holding her, and wanted to keep doing so.

"Aw, well if it means that much to you, I guess I can stay here." She smiled brightly, pondering if she dared to do what was in the back of her mind. His forehead, after all, was just right there! Asking for it! She could sense it...but, she knew she couldn't. Most of the vampire world was not okay with her simply being friends with him and anything else would endanger them both. She didn't care if she would be at risk, she could survive well enough on the run, but she would never dare submit William to that.
Although, after some rapid back and forth in her mind, she decided against it with a frown. At least, he still had his arm around her. She could just force herself to live with that. |
He chuckled quietly, so quietly that it was more a vibration going through him than a sound. Closing his eyes her closed the distance of his face and her shoulder. It wasn't a romantic gesture, not really anyway, but one of contentment and just a bit of possessiveness. He wished at that moment more than he ever had before that he had not become a slayer. If he wasn't a slayer then he would not hesitate to make his affections known. Slayer's weren't allowed to have any close ties. Even this friendship was more than he should have.
This wasn't to say that most slayers were celibate in order to avoid temptation. Quite the opposite, actually. They were rather famous for one night stands. Anything more than that, however, was strictly forbidden. William wondered what it would have been like if he had pursued Artemis for such a purpose. He frowned. Then they never would have been friends, and as much as he wanted her, he couldn't imagine not having had her beside him all these years. "You're my best friend Artemis." He said. 'I want to be more than friends.' He thought. |
Artemis smiled, "Well you're mine as well..in reality though, you're like, my only friend." Her expression became surprised as this realization came across. "Now that would be depressing, but this is William we're talking about here. The best friend anyone could have." She chuckled slightly, placing her palm to her forehead with a roll of her eyes, "I can't believe that I only have like..one friend."

William laughed, moving his head from her shoulder in order to look at her face. "Though that's probably because I steal away all of your free time." He said with a wink. "I'm selfish like that." He propped his head op with the arm that wasn't around Artemis. "Though, you don't see me hanging around with a bunch of friends, either. Not that I care. I prefer your friendship, to having a bunch of friends."

She smiled, "Aw, well aren't you just sweet?" Damn. His face was so close and she was so tempted to just flat out kiss him, even if she lost her guts and ended up kissing his forehead. She bit her lip slightly, trying to hide the fact she was doing it while she continued to mull it over. Finally, she let it go, not really willing to figure out how awkward things would get if she did. "You should have more friends..low social interaction is very bad on a teenage boy's psyche." She laughed a bit, "Not that you're already way past recovering from that sort of damage."

William's eyes crinkled as he smiled. "I don't particularly want more friends. Too much work. I'm lazy." He gazed at her eyes, loving how close they were to him, wanting them to be even closer. Wanting his lips to be on her's. He looked away quickly for a moment banishing the fantasy before it could make him act. "My psyche is far from saving, trust me." He said with a grin. "Besides, haven't you heard? Most teenage boys only want one thing, and as far as I know, making friends isn't it."

Artemis raised a brow, a curious expression on her face as he stared at her before he looked away. She could tell he was in the same emotional distress as her, but she could never act on it. Endangering him like that was not fair to him and his soul. "But you're not like most teenage boys though. You're a lot more..grounded and sensible. I'd say that's one of your more important qualities."

William burst out laughing. Perhaps she saw him as more sensible than other guys, but he was still most certainly a guy and was bound to act like most of them every now and again. "Perhaps I am, but however grounded and sensible I might be. I'm still a guy, and therefore on occasion I think about... what most makes my age think about."

Artemis rolled her eyes, "Oh please, don't make it seem like such a taboo thing. Really.." She laughed slightly, poking his forehead lightly with her slim pale fingers, "Either way, you don't act on it like most guys try to around me. I cannot tell you how many I had to scare away in High School." She shook her head with a disgruntled sigh. Boys.

He laughed. "Well my dear Artemis, that is because you are beautiful. My guess is you had to beat them off with a stick." He said in a matter-o-fact tone, smiling playfully. He used his free hand take a strand of her hair and play with it.

"A bat to be precise.." She tilted her head to the side a bit as she reviewed his words. She couldn't recall him ever stating that she was beautiful so bluntly like that. She couldn't suppress a small smile to her face at the thought. Next thing she knew, he was twiddling with her hair. Had her heart had been beating, it would be racing, as it would've been all night. With all her thinking, she barely noticed that her eyes had changed to a lighter shade of their traditional red-brown, and were even glowing just ever so slightly. Even if she had noticed, it was doubtful he'd see, were he a 'normal' human.

"A bat? Those poor guys. Though I bet some of them deserved it." He laughed, imagining it. Reluctantly he let her hair fall from his hand, savoring it's softness as it left his hand. He gazed into her eyes for a moment before his expression became confused. Her eyes looked a tad bit lighter... and as if they were glowing. "You're eyes... seem different. It must be the lighting." He said, though he knew that didn't explain it, considering he had forgotten to turn the lights in his room on. The only light came from the other room through the doorway.

Artemis smiled a bit "A few of th-" she suddenly cut herself off, noticing his comment. She held her hand to her face, the soft glow cast from her eyes lit up her hand ever so slightly. She tensed, "Must be..." She turned her head to allow her hair to cover her face while she quietly dispelled the glowing. She would have to be careful, William was very observant and if she slipped up again it could mean something disastrous. She would have to keep focused to prevent her eyes from giving her away.

William frowned. Her reaction to his words disturbed him more than her eyes had. If it really had just been the light then she would have laughed and acted like it was nothing, he was certain. But what could the glowing mean? The only creature he knew of that had eyes that did that were vampires. There was no way that Artemis was a vampire. It was simply impossible. The suspicions ran through his head, but he wouldn't give them heed. He needed to lighten the moment.
So he did the first thing he could think of, and instantly regretted it. "Well... they're very beautiful, either way." Instinctively his hand reached out to cup her face, almost caressing it. The touch was brief however, as he knew to touch her anymore would be unwise. |
