Jasmine found the song beautiful. It seemed to run through her mind even after it had stopped. The only thing that jolted her to reality was seeing Zac's tears. She stood imediantly, watching him dry his tears. When he apologized she closed the distance and brushed away tear he had missed. Tears were her weakness. "I think it was beautiful. So, so beautiful." She told him quietly.

"This was the first song I learned on the piano, and my grandmother taught it to me. Just a sec." He said as he went to grab the picture frame that was on one of the bookcases. "Excuse the picture its really old." He said handing her the picture. Zac sighed and rubbed his eyes. "She was really amazing, she took me and my brothers in when my parents died." He said remembering her smell. "I'm sorry again, I just loved her so much. And then those damn..." He stopped knowing he was gonna say something about vampires. "Eherm anyway you need to play something for me now on the violin." He said grabbing the picture and walking back to put the picture on the bookcase.
{:P tink} |
Jasmine's eyes softened as he spoke. It was clear that he had loved his grandmother very much. She gazed at the picture for a long moment before handing it back. It had seemed very old, and part of her thought a little too old, but that was a strange thing to think, so she flushed it from her mind.
She smiled when she asked her to play. "Alright, alright." She said, then retrieved her violin. She decided she would play something happy, to make him feel better. "Here goes!" She said, then began to play. The music was vibrant, and exiting. It moved through her as she played. When she was finished she looked up at Zac, bright eyes and face flushed with excitement. |
Zac smiled when she came back and started playing. "Ah this is a very beautiful song." He thought as he closed his eyes listening to every note she played. When she was done he opened his eyes. "Beautiful, I think me and you should start a band kind of thing." He said with a smile. He looked at his watch. "Wow the next guest should be arriving shortly." He said as he stood up he walked over to her and kissed her on the cheek. "Thank you for playing for me." He said with a smile. "I can't believe I just did that." He thought to himself as he went to the door.

Kali sighed as she clean up the counter and picked up a few of the extra plates. She figured she'd help the bus-boys/girls seeing as they were busy with the many other plates from the night. She wiped the tables down with them, placing the plates in the bin to be washed.
"Alright! Well, seeing as everything's clean, I'm getting the hell out of here." She went in back, punched out, then threw her apron in the bin where it belonged. She ran out, hurrying to her house, only a few blocks away. She rushed inside, giving her mother a quick greeting then quickly got in the shower. Afterwards, she hurriedly on a black t-shirt and some darkwash blue jeans. A few extra things here and there, and she was set. She wasn't dingy, but she wasn't fancy either. Perfect! She quickly brushed out her hair, then hurried downstairs, "Hey mom!" "Yes Kal?" The woman peered around the corner from the kitchen. Kali stood in the archway, "I know it's last minute, but can I please borrow the car for the night? I got invited to a co-worker's party. Nothing big or fancy, just a little let-loose from work sort of thing." Her mother was silent while she thought, "Yeah, sure. Just, please be careful...and dont come home at 3 am this time..you have to go to the college in the morning for your Accuplacer." Kali smiled, grabbing the keys from the bowl, "I know, I'll only be there for a few hours. Love you!" With that she headed to the garage. She smiled at the sleek black Mustang, "Baby, it's been too long!" She walked over, quickly getting in and starting it up. "I miss driving stick...everything's all automatic or paddle shifting these days. Whatever happened to the good old fashioned clutch and shifter?" She rolled her eyes with a chuckle. She often talked to herself when she was excited. She threw the car in reverse and drove off. Once a block away, she began to drive a bit more..recklessly. Nothing extreme, just not babying the car either like her mother always made her. |
Jasmine felt her cheeks grow hot at the touch of his lips. Now why had he done that? The action confused her for a moment, then she gained hold of her mind again and assumed it had simply been a polite gesture. She hesitated, wondering if she should follow him to the door. She quickly decided against the action, however, and sat down. She was excited for the party to start. She wondered how many people would be there.
|
Zac opened the door. "Well you guy's are on time." He said shaking the people's hands.
"Well we do like to be late but we didn't want all of the alcohol to be gone like last time." The man said with a smile. "Oh I see so your just using me for my alcohol." Zac said with a laugh. "Oh no he has us figured out." A woman said as she kissed Zac on the cheek. "Well get your butt's in here." Zac said waving the group of people in. "Oh ya this is Jasmine." He said walking over to Jasmine. "Hi Jasmine." The group of people said all at once. |
Jasmine stared up at the group of people as they all addressed her. It was slightly unsettling to be the center of attention, even if it were only for a brief moment or two. However, she pushed the apprehension back and smiled her carefree smile. "Hey there," She replied and stood, walking a bit closer to the group in order to mingle.

There was a loud crash. "Son of a bitch! Mark what the hell man I told you to be careful with my stuff, that lamp is worth $100,000." Zac said clearly pissed. "Well why in the hell do you have a lamp worth that much in your house?" Mark yelled back. "Because it's MY house. Get out, just get out Mark." Zac said pointing to the door. "Whatever man you used to be cool 100 years ago." Mark said as he stormed out. A lady walked up to Zac, "What did he mean you were cool 100 years ago?" She asked curious. "Oh nothing Annie he's just drunk." Zac said with a sigh. "I'm sorry for your lamp." Annie said. "It's ok," Zac looked up. "Its all good everyone just get back to what you were doing. Oh and the next person who becomes drunk will be kicked out." Zac said with a smile. "Mazal Tov!" Everyone yelled. "Very funny you guys." Zac said as he started to clean up the glass. |
Jasmine couldn't help the smile that came to her face as the man, Mark, left with such an odd comment. Some people were such interesting drunks. She herself hadn't touched the alcohol yet, in hopes to retain some dignity in the eyes of the host. Though she thought she might at least have one drink, just to help her relax a little.
She walked over to where Zac was cleaning up glass. She tsked at him with a smile. "Those drunks, can't do anything right, can they?" She joked lightly. "Anything I can help with?" She asked him. |
"No they can't, that's why I tell people not to get drunk at my house." Zac said with a sigh. "Unless you can give me $100,000 there's not much you can do." He sighed again "I'm sorry I just hate when my stuff get's broken. Thank god I have the more expensive stuff in my vault." Zac said looking at Jasmine. "I have some beautiful paintings in there. You wanna go check them out?" He asked as he stood up. "Now if I find anything else broken when I come back up here I will kill the one who broke it." Zac said with a straight face. "Come you will really love 'em." Zac said holding out his hand.
|
Surprised at his offer to see his expensive paintings Jasmine nodded and followed."Luckily I don't tend to break things when I'm drunk. I just... ah, well, the only way I can think to put it is to say when drunk I would probably make-out with a tree if it gave me the right look." She laughed as said it. "This is surprising. Wouldn't you want to hide those sorts of things away? And not let anyone see." Then she paused for a brief second. "Or perhaps that's just my Aunt Becky. She loved paintings just a little too much. She collected them, but never displayed any, just kept them hidden away." She mused aloud with a smile.
|
Zac smiled, "I would like to see that." He said with a laugh. "I do have them hidden away, I don't mind if people look at them but they can't touch them." Zac said walking to the basement door. He smiled, "I have paintings all over my house that are worth thousands of dollars. My paintings in my vault are worth hundreds thousands of dollars, plus one that's worth millions." He said as he opened the basement door. "Sorry, I don't mean to flaunt my wealth." Zac said starting down the stairs.
|
Jasmine snorted. "You'd like to see me drunk, making-out with a tree? Ah, well I suppose we all have our fetishes." She teased, laughing slightly.
She had even really noticed how rich having all these paintings mush have made him until he mentioned flaunting his wealth. "Hmm, honestly it hadn't crossed my mind. You must really like art." |
"I do, plus some of it is inherited." Zac said as he reached the vault. "I usually have to flaunt it when I wanna get into the country clubs and the like." He said letting go of her hand. He grabbed a key from his pocket and unlocked the first door. He opened it and entered a code into the second door. It opened by itself, "Sorry I like to have a lot of precautions." He said as he leaned down for the retina scan. The third door opened and he placed his index finger on the fingerprint scanner. "There." He said as the fourth and final door opened. The walls were lined with shelves, holding jewels, bricks of gold, silver, and platinum. There were several tables holding bundles of cash from all around the world. "Come on in, I just ask you to not touch anything." He led her to where he kept the paintings. "Here they are, some of my most prized possessions." Zac said with his arms wide open.

Kali pulled up to the large house, her jaw dropping in awe. No wonder he can just throw away $100 on a waitress. Now she felt odd being here. She wondered if the other girl had showed up as well. She quickly found a place to park, but did not leave her car right away. She could definitely tell the man was not just trying to lure them in for his own pleasures. It's just a party Kal. Get over it. You've been to tons that you've known no one. Hell, you've done worse.
She shook her head a bit, resting her head on the steering wheel for a moment while she gathered up her courage. After what seemed like an eternity, her anxiety was getting a hold of her. It was now or never dammit. With a sigh, she shut the car off, having forgot to do so earlier, and got out. She made sure the doors were locked before she hesitantly walked up the driveway and to the door. She paused at the door, unsure of if she were to ring the bell or just waltz in. She remained there for a moment, pondering. She could hear the people and the music..and..god knows what else in there. She bit her lip, still unsure of what her next move was going to be. |
Jasmine whistled appreciatively as the walked inside. He had said he had money, but this was way beyond her expectations. "I'm beginning to suspect your either royalty or a great master thief." She said with a grin, shaking her head as they passed through.
When she saw the painting she was at a lose for words. These truly were masterpieces. "Oh. Wow." Was all she could manage, feeling rather stupid because of her response. |
"I'm not a master thief, and I may be some type of royalty. But you will find that out later." He said with a smile. "They are quite remarkable aren't they?" Zac asked with a smile. "Ah that wonderful waitress is here." Zac said gently pulling Jasmin out of the vault. "Sorry I don't like people in there without me." Zac said closing the doors. He gently pulled her up the stairs, when they reached the first floor he let go and went to the door. "Hello Kali." Zac said with a smile.
|
Kali was busy staring at her feet until suddenly the door was opened. She jumped with a squeak, looking up. "Ah! Oh! Um...I..was just.." She quickly shut up by biting her lip until she could speak in full sentences. "I was just going to ring the bell when you answered the door. I was a bit unsure of what I should do.." She smiled weakly, peering over at the guests, "Well, looks like you know how to throw a party."
She quickly straightened, looking at him, feeling rude for peering. "Pardon me..I get a bit..tweaky sometimes. I..just can't help it." |
Jasmine smiled and let him lead her out when he left her she returned to the crowd, chatting politely with them. They were interesting people, she was beginning to find out. Once she glanced at the door, seeing the waitress, Kali. The girl seemed so timid, she hoped she had fun.
|
"I have a sixth sense when people are at my door." Zac said with a smile. "Thank you." He said ushering her in. "Come on in. Its ok if you get tweaky, I do. I sometimes talk to myself." He said rubbing his head. "There's food in the dinning room, the drinks are in the same room as well." Zac said turning around. "Son of a." He said as he noticed his cousin in the kitchen. "Excuse me." He said storming to the kitchen. "I told you to stay out of my house." Zac said pissed.
"Oh come on now, I'm your cousin." He said with a smile. "I don't care if your my cousin, I want you out of my house." Zac said pointing to the door. "You have no fun at all, you have other vampires here." He said pointing to a few people. "Well ya but they are vegetarians, just like me. Now Adam please go." Zac said pinching his nose. "No Zac I will not kill all of these people." Adam yelled with a evil smile. "Get the fuck out of my house." Zac yelled back. "Or I will remove you myself." Zac said still very pissed. "Fine but that's not anyway to treat your 170 year old cousin." Adam said waving as he walked to the door. "Your only 25 you jackass." Zac said looking at the guests. "It's ok everyone just get back to what you were doing." He said with a smile. |
Kali stood there halfway int he doorway as Zac stormed off. She looked to the girl she had crashed into, "Does he..do that a lot I wonder?" She stepped the rest of the way into the house and closed the door gingerly behind her. She glanced around the house, thoroughly impressed, "Amazing..." After a moment, she looked at the party goers, a few of them had a weird..air..around them and it made her nervous. She quickly shook off her unease moving out of the door way in case anyone else needed access to it
|
Jasmine looked at Kali and smiled, glad to see her. "I'm... not sure. He does a number of odd things, I'm beginning to see. I find it sort of fun." She said. Though in truth something about his cousin had made the hair on the back of her neck stand up and goose bumps rise on her arms. Her body informed her very clearly that he was dangerous, though she couldn't understand why.
|
Kali nodded with a slightly confused expression, "Oh I see...I feel bad for showing up so late though. My damn boss is a slave driver, I swear." She rolled her eyes, quickly dispelling the bad thoughts, "But that's no talk for a party! I hope I didn't miss anything exciting."
|
Jasmine smiled. "Not at all. Besides, it's a party. Get everyone drunk enough and they'll most likely be more entertaining than they were earlier, when sober." She said cheerily.
|
Kali grinned, almost sadistically, "It's so much fun to mess with the drunks. What about you? Are you one of those who gets plastered off their ass? I remember a few times when I woke up from such a..party." She smiled a bit, remembering. She quickly snapped back to reality, focusing on her conversation with Jasmine.
|
{Now you two are my time skip xD}
|
Jasmine laughed. "Nah, I'm just a bit..." She cleared her throat. "affectionate." She smiled. "I told Zac this earlier, but I'd probably make out with a tree if it gave me the right look. Even an ugly tree. I'm not that picky when wasted."
|
"A tree? You speak as if this has happened. I've done some crazy crap drunk, but never a tree." She bit her lip, thinking back to her first party, "Oh God.." She shuddered, but laughed nonetheless. "How naive I was."
|
Zac sighed rubbing his head. "Damn him, I told him not to come but no." He said rubbing his head. "He never listen's." He talked to himself. "I know but I can't kill him." Zac said answering himself again.
"Zac?" A woman said. "Yes?" He said spinning around. "Do you have some 'vegetable juice'?" She asked with a wink. "How long has it been?" He asked nicely. "Two weeks." She said looking down. "Ok it's up in my other study. You know where that is right?" Zac asked nicely. "Yes I do and thank you." She said with a smile. "Your welcome." He said with a smile as he looked at Jasmine and Kali. "At least they are having fun." Zac said thinking on how he could defuse this mess. |
Jasmine laughed. "Well, it wasn't a tree, but close enough as far as I'm concerned." She said, blushing slightly in remembered embarrassment. It had taken her quite some time to live that one down.
Jasmine grinned. "Oh, I understand naivety perfectly. Some of the things I..." She shook her head and trailed off. "Well, needless to say, I don't really drink as much as I used to." |
Kali nodded, "I hear you there. Oh, by the way! I never properly introduced myself. Name's Kali." She held out her hand with a slight smile, "Are you sure you're okay? I don't mean to keep bothering you about it, but I just feel terrible for running into you like that."
|
Jasmine grinned and took her hand. "I'm Jasmine." She said, shaking her hand. "And I assure you, I am perfectly fine. Life seems to enjoy giving me little surprises like that. I'd be a rather grumpy person if I didn't let simple accidents go. What about you, is your scrap any better?"
|
"Woooo!" One of the guests yelled standing on top of Zac's piano.
"God damn it!" Zac said as he walked into his study. "Damn it Fred, I told you not to dance on my piano again. Do you remember what happened last time you did that?" He asked with his hands on his hips. "Umm you threw me through that window." Fred said with very slurred speech. "I didn't throw you, you fell through it and damaged my garden." Zac said rubbing his temples. Fred started to dance on the piano. "No Fred don't." Zac said as Fred tripped and went flying through the window. "Son of a bitch. Ok anyone who is slightly inebriated I'm calling you a cab, well an ambulance for Fred. Anyway I'm calling you a cab and it will take you home. Don't worry I'm paying." Zac said with a sigh. He grabbed his phone out of his pocket. "Hi yes I need an ambulance at 1852 Washington Avenue. Thank you." Zac said hanging up, "So who is drunk?" Zac asked as a few people raised their hands. "Ok now sit down on the couch." He dialed a number. "Ye I need a cab to transport five people home, they are intoxicated, my address is 1852 Washington Avenue. Ok." He hung up the phone, "The cab will be here in ten minutes." Zac said with a sigh. He walked up to Kali and Jasmine. "I'm sorry about this." He said with a defeated sigh. |
Kali burst out laughing seeing the man fall through the window, "I had a feeling that was going to happen. Good stuff.." She shook Jasmine's hand with a smile, "And yeah, my knee is fine. It's just skinned from sliding on the cement. It'll be gone soon" She looked to Zac as he came over with a chuckle, "Don't be, I'm rather enjoying your friends drunken behavior. Quite amusing."
|
Jasmine nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's much better seeing others drunk than having your friend relate to you the events of a party were you yourself were drunk."
|
Zac sighed, "Well make yourselves comfortable. I have to deal with this mess." He said waving his hand at the window. He went out the door to check on Fred. "Fred I told you not to dance on my piano, this will be two windows you owe me." He said as he kneeled next to Fred. "Also how many times do I have to tell you not to mix alcohol and blood?" He asked with a sigh.
"I know." Fred said as he sat up. "No you need to stay down, there are two human in there who don't know what we are. The ambulance is on its way and it will drop you off a block away from here." Zac said as he stood up. "Thanks Zac." Fred said waving. "Ya your welcome." Zac said as he headed back into the house. |
Kali watched as Zac left, "I wonder if he's okay. Windows are dangerous." Her hands went to her pockets, dispelling the habit of tracing a few of her scars.
|
Jasmine frowned. "I hope so. I wonder how Zac is feeling too. He was probably hoping for his party to be a complete success. I wish we could help a bit." She thought about this for a moment then smiled. "And unlike most guys, I don't think it would help if we got drunk and danced around on his coffee table. He's probably had his fill of drunks, very good-looking females or otherwise." She said with a laugh and a friendly nudge to Kali.
