I've been down to Louisiana+Mississippi+Alabama in the winter...That was decent until a cold front hit Mississippi...Gawd that was cold. But I don't think I'd want to be down there during the summer.

2: Hurricanes and the thrill they can give you.

I'll take my Stars and Bars and my dixie weather thank you.

Nah go to the Northwest Oregon gets a lot of rain, but it's mellow weather specially in Portland, small flood every once and a while but only one that I even rem, ember hearing about, and the only earthwuake Iwas in (well another as an infant but I don't count that) were both so mild you couldn't even tel lexcept a slight dizziness.

Forest fires, Earthquakes, wildfires....yeah. Haven't seen a mudslide yet. Don't really want to either. We've got pretty bad thunderstorms too, but you get that everywhere. And yeah, the weather's been bipolar for the past few months.

East Coast is Concidered the North and South.
Above the Mason/Dixon- North.
Below the Mason/Dixon- South.

Espy 05-12-2011 01:30 AM

Holy crap...I got oysters in New Orleans, but regret not checking out the crawfish XD Hm...as for hurricanes, the typhoons in Taiwan are shitty enough. Epic flooding.

Blaine 05-12-2011 01:32 AM

I love crawfish. T:

I love seafood and things that swim.

Cronislee 05-12-2011 01:32 AM

Yankees rarely get to experience the power of a Hurricane. Its something that makes you respect Nature and know that there isnt jack we can do to it. The Earth keeps moving and growing and changing and we are a blink in time.

Crawfish are the food of the gods- nothing more fun than trying to clean and sort them.

Instead in New england back in 08 we had an ice storm so bad pretty much all of NH lost electricity, with trees and buildings still ending up destroyed in some areas.

Also I am afraid to eat crawdads now since I just found out from eating it for the first time that I know of.. I am allergic to lobster 8C

Blaine 05-12-2011 01:35 AM

I got to help with it once. Two twins boys (adorable little buggers) came up after Katrina and they were from Shreveport Louisiana, so we had a whole cajun meal. AMAZING.

Lobster tastes like crap compared to Crawfish :P.

See- Yankee's get blizards, ice storms, and white outs. Nasty sons of bitches.

Espy 05-12-2011 01:37 AM

Dude, I was in Taiwan when a massive typhoon hit...and we were eating sushi inside....and I was panicking because I was sure the water was gonna flood in (It was already past the front doors and beginning to spread out over the tiles. And coming back from the restaurant, my uncle thought, "Oh hey, this road is empty and traffic-free, let's go here."

We turned onto that street.

Reason it was empty was because it was flooded. And the more you drove, the deeper the water got. We turned around when it got to a quarter way up the car doors...If we'd gone further, we would've stalled.

Blaine 05-12-2011 01:39 AM

Espy: Gosh, I bet that was terrifying.
HOWEVER, I know your pain.
Flooding wise.
We had that last year in April and holy sheist it was ridiculous.
There were BOATS on the interstate, saving people.

Cronislee 05-12-2011 01:39 AM

You learn early on not to go outside during a Hurricane.
Its not THAT the wind is blowing.
Its WHAT the wind is blowing.

Azrael 05-12-2011 01:39 AM

Cron is depressing. XD

Anyway, in southern nevada, we get extreme heat... and... that's it, really. XD I mean we rarely get rain, nonetheless heavy rain (although it tends to flood when it does), we get almost no snow, ever, and... well we get the occasional fire when someone was dumb enough not to put out their campfire up in the mountains.

SHREVEPORT. XD It makes me think of the Sookie Stackhouse books ~rolls around~

Cronislee 05-12-2011 01:42 AM

One dirty fact about the South is that we are sitting on the biggest and most powerful faultline in the America's.

Azrael 05-12-2011 01:43 AM

Really cron? I didn't know that. Although from a documentary I watched, it's likely that another huge Earthquake will hit either cali or washington next in the ring of fire...

Cronislee 05-12-2011 01:46 AM

Aye; the New Madrid Fault. Last time it erupted in the 1800'w it went on for 3 months and affected over 20 states (every state at the time) and was felt in Canada. It made the Mississippi run backwards, drained some rivers, and carved out new ones in their place, drownin entire forests in some spots.

Azrael 05-12-2011 01:47 AM

O.O wow... that... that is EARTH right there...

Espy 05-12-2011 01:48 AM

Here in Cali...we get the San Bruno gas pipe explosion. And restaurants burning down. And a triple homicide at SJSU yesterday night.

And then we also get the weather's temper. IT AIN'T EVEN FUNNY.

(Also, what's the biggie about never saying "ain't"? And don't be pouring buckets of paint over me.)

Blaine 05-12-2011 01:49 AM

Corn is right.
For me, it's near Memphis.

Azzy, the what? xD

Espy 05-12-2011 01:49 AM

Hm....I think Mother Earth is PMSing.

San Andreas fault ftw...and the San Joaquin...and the Hayward...

Cronislee 05-12-2011 01:50 AM

As I said. Were are a blink in time. We can polute it all we want and we will only be a flea biting at the skin of a Rhino.

So next time you hear a Cicada chirping, remember that it is one part of a giant puzzle.

Azrael 05-12-2011 01:51 AM

ring of fire. It's basically the outer edges of one of the plates. It runs through cali, just off the coast of orgeon, just outside of Japan, Australia... Um I think it was Australia, I can't quite remember. But it's the location of a lot of major Earthquakes.

Blaine 05-12-2011 01:51 AM

AHHAA.I WROTE CRON AS CORN. BAHHAHHAHA.

Anyway, this is no laughing matter. T:
Now, what are we talking about?

Southern Lingo
Ain't: Are not
Ya'll: You all
Youins: The Group of you over there
Yankee: Northerner

Espy 05-12-2011 01:53 AM

For the States, it's in Cali, Oregon, Washington, huge in Alaska, and I'm not sure if it reaches Hawaii.

Espy 05-12-2011 01:54 AM

Yeah, I know some southern lingo. What irks me is how schools around here teach you to not say ain't. Kids look at me funny when I do XD

Cronislee 05-12-2011 01:55 AM

Ring O' Fire
http://celebrating200years.noaa.gov/...f_fire_650.jpg

Does'nt go near Hawaii. Its where the Techtonic plates meet.

Blaine 05-12-2011 02:02 AM

No one ever taught me not to say ain't No point in trying to quell a local colloquialism.
And Cronis, that's hardly all of them.
Why show them the one's they know?
Ya'll and ain't.
Everyone knows that.

Iunno= I don't know.
Whatcha: What are you
Doncha: Don't you

But then I have my own personal sayings that only I say or if everyone else does, I don't even hear 'em.

Cronislee 05-12-2011 02:05 AM

'Cus if we started a whole list we'd be here til the dogs came home :P.

Plus, we'd need a skype chat. Be like Roseta Stone. "Rosetta Stone: Redneck"

Azrael 05-12-2011 02:06 AM

Those are just slang/slurs to me, the "iunno" and "dontcha" things. I mean I'm in southern Nevada but we have more that 'valley girl' accent here, not the Southern.

I use all of those too...along with some stray slang from other languages. Probably from books.

Blaine 05-12-2011 02:08 AM

AHmigah, Rosetta would be hilarious. "To properly form these words, relax your mouth as much as you can and try to move it as little as you can"

I have a sporadic accent. My family is from Illinois, so sometimes I get one of those accents. I watch hockey like a mofo, sosometimes, I get a Minnesota like accent.

But, man, hilariousss

Espy 05-12-2011 02:11 AM

What's bad about my talking is that I get this not-really-Chinese-but-not-really-anything-else accent when I'm nervous. And I'm nervous when I meet people, especially of my age. So guess what their first impression is. >.>

I've been letting "y'all" come into my daily speech...so more people have been looking at me funny, haha. But then that's because my bestie moved to Texas a bit back.

Cronislee 05-12-2011 02:15 AM

"Heyaman wh'chu 'doin?": Hello, friend, what are you doing over there?

"A'right naw man, we'gunna get this figured out righ'hya.": Alright, friend, this is what we should do.

"whoda hayle you think you is, you sombitch?": How dare you, your son of a bitch.

"Git'yer hands offa her righnya!": Get your filthy hands off of my lady friend this instant.

Azrael 05-12-2011 02:17 AM

XD Lady friend.

Blaine 05-12-2011 02:18 AM

Cronis: Pretty much, ahhaa!

"Ahohe'en care." =I don't even care.

"Swhah-ee Ah tole ya"= It's why I told you.

Man, that's funny. xD
Thas hilarious right there, I dun care who ya are, thas funny right there.

Cronislee 05-12-2011 02:18 AM

Well, night all. Good luck with those Cicada's.
Woooowee Larry da Cable Guy *highfives*

We need more Southern blood on this site. Too many Westerners.

Azrael 05-12-2011 02:20 AM

XD I don't know if it's cause I've been studying Japanese, but I've been saying "right" or "you know?" a lot at the end of a sentence lately. Cause 'ne' is the rough equivalent of that. Or I just plain say "ne?"

Espy 05-12-2011 02:20 AM

-coulda gotten that without the translation, thanks Cronis XD-

I forgot who it was in my old school who used to yell "HAAAAAAAYYYYYYLE NOOOO." We looked at him funneh XD But now I do the same sometimes.
