Adelais stepped back a bit as Aaron came closer, "I will request my reward at a later date...What are you doing in there?" He stepped over, watching the man carefully. He quickly expanded his telepathy over Aaron's mind, lightly and discretely scanning it for any suspicion. He would have to quell the suspicions immediately and keep Aaron from figuring out what he really was. He couldn't sense anything right now, but he'd keep an eye on the man's thoughts.
"Getting what my boss wanted." Aaron nodded. He unzipped the duffel bag and pulled out a safe breaking kit. He quickly went to work on the safe, after a moment he let out a deep breath as the safe opened. He grabbed out the folder that was in there, as well as ten stacks of $100 dollar bills. He jammed all of the stuff in the duffel bag and closed the safe. He walked out of the closet with a smile and moved the clothes so they were blocking the safe. "There, now I'm all set." He sighed a bit. "We should go now, the neighbors will notice the lights on." He looked around for a moment.
Adelais watched silently, "Interesting..." He nodded as Aaron came back out, moving out of his way, "Most likely..." He started from the room and towards the stairs, "Come on slowpoke~"
Aaron walked out of the room and turned the bedroom light off. "I can drop you off at your place before I go see my boss." He followed Adelais down the steps.
Adelais shook his head, "I will walk..It's no problem really..I wouldn't want to hold you up." He paused by the front door, holding it open for Aaron, "Besides, I've got a few things to sort out with the neighbors.."
"It wouldn't be much trouble, really." Aaron smiled. He walked out the front door and turned around, "Just don't cause to much trouble." He chuckled quietly. He pulled out his note pad and scribbled something down. "Here's my number, call me when you want your reward." He smiled as he handed the paper to him.
He took the card with a devious smile, "Oh, I won't hesitate..." He winked, shutting the door behind him. "Me, cause trouble? Unheard of." He winked again and started off to the neighbors house, humming softly to himself.
Aaron smiled as he started to his car,"How come I have a feeling that that guy wont be the only one he kills tonight?" He asked himself with a chuckle. He tossed his bag into the front seat and quickly went over to the drivers side and got in. He started the car and did a u turn to head to his boss.
Adelais smiled as he let the body of the young woman drop. He licked the blood from his lips as he looked over the the card with Aaron's phone number. It had only been an hour or so, and he was not ready to claim his reward from the man. He tapped the corner of the card on his chin as he left the house, pondering what to do next.
Aaron slowly got out of his car holding his arm. If you looked closely you could see blood rolling down his arm. He grunted a bit as he shut the car door, he leaned against the car for a moment. He slowly walked up the stairs stumbling a bit. His vision was starting to get blurry a bit, when he finally made it to his apartment he leaned his head against the door as he tried to slide the key into the lock. He grunted when the key finally slid in, "Goddamn..." He trailed off as he stumbled forward when he opened the door. He shut the door and locked it before he shakily walked to the kitchen to grab a knife.
Adelais strolled down the street, humming Down With the Sickness by Disturbed. They were one of his favorite bands, and he had always enjoyed their music. He paused, sniffing the air. Blood? Now why would he smell that? With a sigh, he followed the scent, curious as to whose it was this time.
Aaron pulled out a knife from the knife block, he pulled up his sleeve which showed his blood covered arm. "Asshole." He groaned out. He grabbed a wash cloth and stuck it in his mouth. In one fluid motion he jammed the knife into the hole in his arm, he let out a muffled scream. He swirled the knife around in his arm until he felt it hit something hard. He screamed again when he noticed that he hit the bone in his arm. He pulled the knife out and threw it in the sink. He spat out the cloth, "Goddamn it!" He yelled out. He was panting as the blood loss was starting to get to him more and more. "He could of broken my ribs or arm rather then shoot me." He collapsed to his knees.
Adelais paused outside the apartment complex where he could smell the blood pouring from. He turned, watching the window in which light shone through. Behind the smell of blood, he could smell a familiar scent; Aaron's. Now why was the man bleeding? Curious... He stood there a moment, watching the window.
Aaron went to his hand and tried to crawl to get some bandages, he fell to his face as the strength left his upper body. "Damn..." He tried to grab onto anything he could to pull himself to the bathroom.
Adelais helped himself inside, with a b it of help from his telekinesis of course. He paused outside Aaron's door, his head tilted to the side a bit. "Interesting.." He gently pushed the door open with his telekinesis, peering inside to see Aaron on the floor, "Well good morning.."
"H-..how did you know where I live?" Aaron's voice was strained as he looked up to see Adelais' face. "A-..and my door was locked." He let his head fall to the floor."Never...mind..." He let out a short breath.
Adelais chuckled stepping inside and standing over Aaron, a slight grin to his face, "Now how did you end up getting yourself shot?" He crouched down, resting his arms on his thighs as he watched. He reached forward, putting his index finger and thumb into the wound, his fingers gripping around the bullet and pulling it out; not so gently. He examined the bullet, "Only a .22? I would've used something a bit..larger..."
"I don't know..." Aaron trailed off. He clenched his teeth and screamed out as the bullet was ripped from his arm. He put his free hand over the wound and rolled to his back. "Well next time I get shot I'll look for you." He smiled a bit. His reddish brown eyes scanned over Adelais' face. "Thank you." He closed his eyes and sighed a bit. "If I would of moved faster I wouldn't of been shot in the first place." He winced as the wound pulsated.
He chuckled flicking the bullet into the trash can and licking his bloody fingers once, "Well next time, you might not be so lucky." He then grabbed Aaron's arm, looking at the wound for a moment. His eye flash red when the man had closed his own. The thick, hot smell and sight of the blood was driving him nuts. He wanted nothing more than to take his reward now, but Aaron would not survive a...donation... With a sigh, he closed his eye, forcing back to it's ice blue color as he stood, "I'll be right back.."
He wandered through the apartment until he found the bathroom. He grabbed the necessary materials and headed back to Aaron. He crouched down again, lifting Aaron's arm and cleaning the wound thoroughly before bandaging it. "There...the cleanser had a slight anesthetic so it shouldn't hurt so much in a few moments." He shuddered a bit as he looked to his bloody fingers once more. One more lick? He bit his lip a bit, then stood, lacing his fingers behind his back. |
Aaron sighed a bit, "Oh well." He kept his eyes closed. He nodded as the man went away. "Thank you." He slowly sat up. He rubbed his hand on his pants wiping the blood off. He grabbed the bandaged wound, "That bastard is going to regret shooting me." He sighed deeply as he tried to stand. He grabbed onto the counter for support when he was standing. "Thank you again." He turned and nodded his head to him.
"It hardly requires thanks..even in your condition, an assassin of your level should've been able to do it alone." He shook his head a bit, moving over to support Aaron but deciding against it. The smell of blood was still very heavy in the air. He pushed the blood off his hands using a bit of telekinesis then put them in his pockets. "Either way, you're welcome."
"I couldn't find the bullet." Aaron sighed. "Plus I'm not used to being shot..." He trailed off with another sigh. "Did you come for your reward?" He smiled a bit.
"Sadly no, I cannot request it of you right now." He let out a quiet sigh, leaning on the counter. He wanted to leave, but he didn't want to be rude either...well..he already broke in so he was past the 'polite guest' status. He let out another sigh, watching Aaron curiously.
Aaron nodded, "You don't have to stay if you don't want to." He smiled a bit. "And I'll be fine. I have had worse done to me." He looked to the blood covered floor, "And this will be the first time I have to clean up blood." He chuckled.
"No, go rest. I've got this.." He shooed Aaron from the kitchen then set about getting the bleach, a bucket, a rag, and hauling them to the sink. It was really no effort to do so, of course. He filled up the bucket with hot water and mixed in the proper amount of bleach while it filled. He let the rag soak while he went to get a pair of gloves. Even though he'd heal right away, he still had an act to keep up.
Aaron sighed internally as he was shooed from the kitchen. He pushed himself off of the counter and went to his room to get cleaned up. He came out about ten minutes later in a white tee shirt and a pair of lounge pants. He leaned into the kitchen, "I'll be right back I need to get my bag from my car." He smiled a bit and went to slip on a pair of shoes.
Adelais rung out the rag as he had now finished, "Already took care of that.." He stood, dumping the bloody bleach/water down the drain, not really concerned about what happened to it now. He removed the gloves and threw them into the sink so they could dry off, then pointed to the counter where the bag now lay. "I'm just that good.." he winked, leaning back on the counter, crossing his arms over his chest. "I'm assuming Gene doesn't know any of this about you...so what the hell possessed her to introduced us?"
Aaron turned around and walked into the kitchen, "How'd? That's right I left my keys in the door." He sighed a bit. "No she doesn't, I usually don't tell people. I really don't know, all she said was that you were a great guy who sulked all of the time." He chuckled a bit as he unzipped the bag and pulled out five stacks of $100 dollar bills. "$50,000. If you want it, since you did kill my guy." He held out the stacks for the man to take with a smile.
He shook his head, "Keep the pocket change..consider it..a finder's fee. You found him, you get the change." He shrugged. "I told her I didn't want to do this from the beginning, but...she's a hard woman to stop." He flinched a bit, his phone suddenly buzzing wildly in his pocket. He pulled it out with a slight growl, listening to the shrill woman on the other end. "Ge...wou...c..." He sighed as she interrupted him at every word. When she finally shut up, he spoke, "I don't appreciate you calling me in the middle of my..'date' that you forced me into..." With that, he flipped the phone shut and shoved it back into his pocket. "Either way, she's awfully nosy as well...it would not have surprised me if she had discovered that.." After all, she detected I was a vampire on the third day of knowing her. "She's a very attentive woman.."
Aaron tossed the bundle of money into the bag, "I know, I told her the same thing. Especially in my 'line' of work. If my competitors found out that I was dating someone, they would go after him." He sighed a bit. He held back his chuckles as he heard Gene yelling on the other end of the phone. "She is, but I have only met her a few times in person. So she hasn't really had a chance to sniff out my lies." He chuckled a bit.
He shook his head, "Give it time..she'll figure it out..if she hasn't already.." He sighed, pushing himself from the counter. "I should be off now though. You just rest for the night...I still need to get my reward from you before I allow you to die." He chuckled lightly then went for the door.
Aaron nodded for what seemed like the millionth time, "I'll be fine." He bit the inside of his cheek. "Oh I see how it is, just using me." He chuckled. He followed the man to the door, "Stop by anytime you want to claim your reward. Thanks again for removing the bullet." He smiled.
As Aaron came over, his hand came up to lightly touch his cheek, "Oh, I'm not just using you. I've got big plans for you, darling." He winked again removing his hand and opening the door, "Next time you get shot though..at least make sure it's not in such a...'lame' location. Legs are always better~" Before the man could react, he was out the door and down the hall; moving rather fast. When he was out of sight, he teleported himself to his Loft a few miles away.
Aaron placed his hand on his cheek, "Ok..." He trailed off as he saw that he was already gone. He closed the door and locked the deadbolt. He kept his hand on his cheek as he made his way to his room. A confused look came over his face as he entered his room, "What did he mean by plans?" He grabbed his arm as he gently fell into bed.
*** The next morning, Adelais was rudely awoken to his phone buzzing on the end table next to his bed. He growled, opening it after seeing it was Genevieve again. "What do you want? I'm not in the mood to talk about last night..." "Aw come on Ade~ Don't get all 'I hate the sun/morning cause I'm a vampire' on me. I will not tolerate that kind of behavior. Just tell me how it went? You don't have to be specific..." He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose, "This could not have waited until sometimes after 8 am? Either way..it was..interesting..there..now good bye." He shut the phone before she could respond then pulled out the battery, laying back down. He draped his arm over his eyes. He knew she called him so early on purpose...he really should've adjusted her memories, but he felt wrong for doing it. She was one of his closest friends this time around in the U.S...and she handled the confirmation rather well...he figured she was competent to handle it. With another heavy sigh, he hauled himself from the bed, running his hand through his pitch black hair. What am I going to do with that woman? He chuckled lightly as he stood and headed for the shower after grabbing a clean set of clothes. He decided to take an extra long and relaxing shower; he deserved it after all. Once he was fully dress, he sighed as he combed through his hair. His one sided gaze couldn't help but peek at his nearly white, right eye. While he had been blind in that eye since he was 5, it was still rather strange that when he turned, it didn't repair. Was it because he had had the injury for so long previous? Who knew. His memory flashed back to when the knife was rammed into his eye, and even though he told Gene that his mother did it[and with a little knife], it was done by a complete stranger to him. He was lucky to have survived the incident, even with him being a vampire. With a sigh, he left the bathroom and went to grab his eye patch and tied the knot behind his head. At least, his eye patch deterred humans from approaching him. That was one good thing. After making sure it was secure, he headed downstairs, pondering what he could do today. |
Aaron sighed as his alarm clock went off, he had been awake for an hour or so. He couldn't sleep really, the whole conversation with Adelais replayed in his mind over and over. "What did he mean by 'I have big plans for you.' " He sighed again. He sat up in bed and grabbed his arm as it began to throb. He moved his feet to the floor and stood. He went to his bathroom to take a shower, before he did he removed the bandage and looked at it in the mirror. It looked really bad, like he should go to the hospital and have it checked out. But then he would have to go through who, what, when, where, and why he was shot. He shook his head as he climbed into the shower.
After a long shower he got out and dried off, he sighed when he saw that the wound was bleeding. He shouldn't of been so rough with the washcloth. He grabbed some toilet paper and gently dabbed the blood away. He tossed the bloody toilet paper in the toilet and grabbed some antiseptic wipes from the medicine cabinet. He ripped the package and gently rubbed it over the wound, wincing every now and then. After a few moment he discarded the wipe and quickly bandaged up the wound. Wrapping it with some medical tape to make sure it stayed on. He walked out of the bathroom and quickly put on some comfortable clothes. He walked out of his room and flipped on the TV as he went to make himself some breakfast. |
Suddenly, there came a knock at Aaron's door; rapid and nonstop. "Aaron~ Open up~ Plleeaseee~?" Genevieve sighed, continuing to knock on the door for a moment longer before stopping. She quickly adjusted her hat and fixed her tie, "Come on Aaron! I'm a curious woman and you won't stop me!"
Aaron sighed as he heard the knock at his door, he laid his plate of scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast on the counter. He went over to the door and unlocked the deadbolt, "Come on in." He moved away from the door and went to grab his plate. "And I know I can't stop you." He smiled a bit before he took a bite of toast.
Genevieve smiled as he opened the door, stepping inside after him, "Thank you~ Now then!" She helped herself up to sit on the counter next to him, jabbing his shoulder lightly, "Sooo~ How'd it gooo~"
Aaron winced in pain as Gene punched his bad shoulder. "It was interesting." His tone had a small amount of pain in it. He took another bite of toast as his arm started to not throb, "So what are you up to today?" He smiled a bit after he finished chewing his toast.
