She look to him a small smile on her face “I lived in a villiage on Kailin, in the Alti'ui teritory.” she begin moving to one of the lavish couches that littered the corridor “We lived a simple life, surrounded by tall trees that gave shelter and the flowers that smelt so sweet especially on a fresh spring day..” her voice showed longing as her hand went to her pendant once more “but that came to an end, and very quickly as we where attacked” she say with a sorrow filled tone her eyes closing as a tear fell “Our village was burned to the ground no one survived” her eyes would open and her once bright eyes would now be dull almost dead, “I am sorry I did not mean to bring down the atmosphere” she say bowing her head as a means of apologising to the other.
She listened to him speak about his home and his family “Your family have moved on to the realm of spirits” she say her eyes once again going to the moon “They are always going to be in this world in a manner of speaking so longs you are here” she put in as an after thought “Your home sounds beautiful, perhaps one day you will permit me to come and see it with my own eyes” she smile gently |
Alright..sweets...were a bad idea. BAD IDEA..he was getting full. Danged full. With a soft sigh of discomfort, Michael wandered his way around to an unoccupied table, seating himself with a low grunt of a sound; reminding himself to sit knees together- wasn't the most...covering skirt he was wearing. Fashionable, yes. Practical....not in the slightest.
He managed to have a servant bring him something light to drink, smiling at the ever so slightly fruity concoction, it's light sunset pink color making him feel utterly ridiculous. Again; privilege of nobody knowing who you were. It was utterly impossible to actually embarrass yourself. Well...alright so it was possible, but nobody would be the wiser once you took your mask off after the ball. "This..this part I could get used to." He murmured to himself, putting his sore feet up on the chair opposite of himself, crossing his legs at the ankle. Screw being lady-like, he needed to recline for a bit. |
Demo intently listened to her story as he sat in a chair beside the lavish couch, feeling her pain as she relived it as she recited her tale. His heart ached as he felt her sadness. He finally put a hand on her shoulder and tried his best to lend her his positive energy. "Miss I feel your pain, you have touched me and I am sorry for you incredible loss." He smiled though after saying this. "The atmosphere is fine as long as negative thoughts are not dwelled upon." He gazed at the moon as she described the realm of spirits. "It is comforting to know they live on in spirit no matter what." He returned his gaze to her and warmly smiled. "I would be honored to have you as a guest when the time comes."
She looked at him startled as he touched her shoulder, if it had been any other time he may have lost his arm, but she wasn't in the mood to be causing blood shed, in fact she was enjoying his company a great deal “The pain will eventually ebb when I can no longer remember...” she paused for a second “Though painful it is what prevents me from changing to being what I am now” she would confess her eyes brightening a little as she spoke to him about it “Good or bad, memories are what make us” she would finish her eyes looking at the moon “There is some comfort in such knowledge, I am glad my words could bring some comfort to you” her voice cooed softly “Then I will come when requested” she would reply leaning back on the couch once more
"Well then when the time comes it shall be enjoyable." He said relaxing in his chair. "Also very sorry about the sudden touch. I cannot help myself when I feel someone hurting. Forgive my action?" He said looking at her with a genuinely sorry look in his eyes.
She would nod to his statement “I am sure of it, perhaps I could even teach you a thing or two” she chuckled, bringing her hand up to cover her mouth as she did so, though hearing him apologising for touching her she blinked in confusion it had never been done, though she couldn't put it down to the fact no one had been stupid enough to touch her or to the fact those stupid enough to do so ended up in the realm of spirits shortly afterwards, none the less she found herself being troubled by his apology “Please do not apologise, no insult was given and thus no forgiveness is needed to be given” she would say her hand cautiously going to his arm rubbing it gently showing it was okay
Ariiana's touch had an aura about it, as did her person that was unique to her. "Thank you, for understanding." He smiled and took comfort in the mutual respect they had gained between each other. "Hope you do not mind me asking but do you enjoy books by chance?"
She looked to him and smiled, her eyes soon closed as she let out a small sigh her hand coming back to rest gently on her lap “I am understanding to a point, but eventually everyone's will get to a breaking point” she say in honesty to him as her eyes opened, she could tell he was different to many of the others of his race she had met most of them now loyal pets to the queens bidding, her hand going to her heart as she felt it twist at the misery others where having to go through, her head dropped as did her hand 'I can't go against him, but this has to stop' she thought to herself her long ivory lock covering her face, on hearing his question however she raised her head “I do... it is a good way to get knowledge and understanding” she say smiling her eyes getting brighter as she spoke
Demo was glad that the question seemed to divert her thoughts from what had seemed to suddenly trouble her. "Well then you would enjoy seeing my library. It is built around a grand tree. With many book cases on the wall. Also artifacts I have found on my travels around my land." He also addressed her other comment. "If anyone was to cause the breaking point then the one who caused it shall get their rightful consequence for doing such a thing."
She smiled and looked to him “I enjoy trees, there song is harmonious and shows things as it should be everything living in perfect harmony with one another” she say her eyes closing as a content smile appeared on her lips “I have a library too, though likely nothing compared to your own, but then again I can't get to it as often as I would like” she confess her eyes opening once more “Normally I do not like people touching me, that is more than enough to cause me insult...” she start, she wasn't ashamed of her statement it was just the way she was “But you make me feel at ease and so no insult was given” she would finish her voice as soft as when the had first met
"As do I, Nature is what guides us and controls us. Not the other way around as some today feel." He smiled taking comfort in one with similar ideals. "Oh that is quite a shame since my library is where I take comfort in the most." He observed her as she recited the last statement. "Ah well then, I am honored that you feel that way, truly. It is very meaningful for anyone to take comfort in the presence of another."
She listened to him and tilted her head a little her hand coming to her mouth as she chuckled a little, it was a bit funny to her that the one person that came to speak to her had the same idea's as she did. Removing her face she looked to him "I completely agree with what you have just said, it is foolish to try and control nature..." she began her eyes going to the moon "Those who reach for such a star are insane, as such a tall feat will lead to their downfall" she say her voice showing how serious she was on the matter, she took some comfort knowing that there was another who shared her ideals on such a topic
She listened to how it was his library that gave him comfort when he needed it "I do not have time anymore to study really, my will is 'his' if he says train I train, if he says go I go... my will left me two years ago" she say with a sigh her head lowering as she looked at the marble floor. Hearing his next words she smiled faintly and nodded "I understand what you are saying" she then look at him closing her eyes "Who needs a masquerade ball, so many people wear mask everyday... what makes this so special other than a reason to get the silks out" she would ask him it was both a playful and a serious subject. |
Demo listened to her well though out replies. He was fascinated with the way she spoke, very knowing and not full of misconceptions or cliches. "Well there is always the dancing, though your not fond of music so I wouldn't suggest that." He said thinking to himself. "I truly do not know, maybe the thought of having an ability to wear a mask and become someone your not is enticing to most." He said removing his own mask. "The mask has no affect on me since I am true to myself always." He smiled at this playfully simple comment.
She looked to him as he spoke of dancing and smiled “Not all music is hurtful to my ears, the natural worlds music, the music of the spirit and the music of the elements are all very calming and good to dance to” her words where soft almost like a gentle summer breeze “Many people live their lives wearing masks, pretending to be whom they are not... perhaps for a change they should remove the masks and be who they are...” she paused for a second and watched as he removed his mask , a light blush coming to her pale cheeks “In-- instead of placing another on” she say her voice shaking just a little as she examined him once again “I do not wear a mask other than the one I am forced normally to wear by the one I serve” she say her voice was low as she looked out the window
Demo smiled as he looked out the window too. "I understand why you wear your mask. You have a reason to and you do not let it affect your judgement." He gazed at the stars and waited to see if they would mystically disappear. "You are here for a reason are you not. I hardly believe that is to talk with me. I've selfishly kept you here when you could be elsewhere if you wanted." He could conclude that from the hints she had disclosed throughout their conversation.
She looked down from the night sky and to him once more “No one should have to wear a mask, reason or otherwise” she would say her hand clenching just slightly on the subject but eased once more “Why should I let it effect my judgement? I am who I was back then... just less foolish...” she closed her eyes “To tell the truth until meeting you I always wished that who interfered with my death hadn't done so” she say very quietly, now revealing what race she was from “I know my life is going to be nothing but a struggle, in eternal servitude to one I may never see... I live by his grace alone and that is no way to live” she say opening her eyes “But meeting you and gaining your friendship has meant a lot to me, even if it is only a fleeting happiness” she would say her hand resting on his arm.
Hearing his question she smiled “I am here because I was sent here, I do not know why and I am not about to question it either” she lean her head back a little looking at the ceiling “They really need to get better decorators” she would say her voice showing distaste to the way the ceiling was decorated “You are not keeping me from any task at the moment, if you where I would have left by now” she say in honesty her eyes going back to him as she lowered her head once more “I would rather be no where else than with a friend” she say standing holding out her hand “May I dance with you?” she say her eyes glowing brighter as a gentle breeze past them |
Demo let out a small laugh when she talked about the decor. It was very unorthodox in his opinion but so was this vile castle in all honesty. He regained his though process when she asked him to dance. "It would be a pleasure Ariiana." He smiled and took her hand leading her to the center of the large hall. Sunlight started to lighten the horizon fading out the stars of the sky. "I would like nothing better than to dance with a friend." He said leading the simple slow twirling dance. Making sure not to step on any toes or hit anything or her with his tail and wings. "Whatever your purpose, I do believe it will be made clear soon." He spun her gently another time. "I do fear though, a foreboding calm has descended upon this area. That can only mean one thing." His eyes and tone very serious. "Trouble."
She looked at him and somehow knew he was thinking like she was when it came to how the castle was decorated, she let out a small shudder “Terrible things have happened here, I don't know what they are or when they have been done... I... I just feel it” she say in a very low tone knowing walls had ears and something like this shouldn't really be heard, but it was her natural senses being attuned to death and misery she had a sort of six sense when it came to such things. Watching him stand and take her hand as if it was a fragile flower she smiled walking with him to the center of the overly large corridor “this is so wide you would think her majesty was wanting to hold a party here” she would say in jest to her friend.
Before the dance had began she raised her hand to her chest like she had every other time and bowed forward once more slightly as a thanks to his acceptance, her eyes went out side and smiled “Twilight, a neutral area in time where it is neither light, nor dark... it is just the universe in it's truest beauty” she would say in a gently tone to Demo, her voice showing some passion in those words, smiling she allowed herself to be twirled in such a graceful movement, it was almost like she was born to do such things, moving back to him she placed her left hand on his shoulder as they danced the slow waltz her eyes glowing a little, she never fought for lead allowing him to show her the path as she hummed the music she heard from the growing day, though his words disrupted it for a moment as he said about the calm “I agree, this is the calm before the storm... it seems far to peaceful...” she closed her eyes continuing to dance “but for now lets leave such things in the hands of fate and enjoy this time for what it is” she say before humming the melody once more |
Demo halted the dancing as a sleepy Richard awoke with a rumble from his tiny belly. His tiny eyes blinked sleepily as he was trying to figure out where in the world he was. Demo looked at the sleepy dragon on his shoulder. "Well well, good morning Richard." The tiny dragon looking at his master with a confused look and then another confused look as he looked to the stranger his master was with.
She would stop as he did her hand going to her chest as to bow once more politely and quietly for the dance “You dance divinely” she muttered her glowing blue eyes going to where she heard the gentle rumble and blinked “Did you sleep well Richard?” she would ask bowing to the dragon on Demo's shoulder slightly before lowering her hand. Placing it into her sash she would bring out a small piece of cooked meat and held it out to the dragon “I always come prepared because of my companion” she say gently
Richard ogled the meat with sheer pleasure. "Richard what do you say to the nice woman?" Demo said to Richard as he gave a respectful bow in return. Richard looked to Demo and then to Ariiana and said, "Thank you for the food miss." He did a tiny bow and gently took the meat from her hand. Richard scurried to the floor as not to soil his master's clothing. In turn Demo said, "Ariiana, care to explain that last statement by chance?"
She smiled contently to the dragon “Please think nothing of it” she say with a smile as she allowed the meat to be taken from her hand, it had been delicately spiced only enough to enhance the flavor of the meat that she had, her hand moving to her chest once more as she returned the small dragon's bow, her eyes watching as he scurried off Demo's shoulder to the floor to eat. Though as she was addressed her eyes moved to Demo once again “I have a companion a hound to be exact, called Shade, he is my companion throughout the life I now live” she say smiling happily “If he bites someone his saliva will start turning his victim into stone” she say moving back to the couch she had originally sat on “I always carry food for him, it is as much my duty to look after him as it is his to look after me, just like anything else within this existence there is always push and pull, give and take” she say as if it was just as simple as that

Maikan's attention was taken a moment from the woman he was interroga--err, speaking to by the arrival of a loud clumping noise passing them going towards the refreshment table. He turned and blinked, eyes widening as they took in a male...a male..?? clumping by on rather high heels. Maikan watched him for a moment, partially fascinated, partially confused, but when the male took off his shoes and padded around in his bare stockings, Maikan's nostrils flared as he made a disgusted face. How uncouth!
But it wasn't until he saw the male's catlike ears and tail that he felt personally offended. The male was a Feryxonis! And here he was behaving like a commoner in a barn, how revolting! Maikan may have great pride in his Kingdom and Queen and undying pride in his lineage and family House but he held an almost obsessive pride in his race -- they were brothers with the sophisticated, elegant Athiyk, they were supposed to behave better than the...Valyarins. His lip curled and he turned from the woman he had been speaking with and fairly stomped over to the black-haired, heel-wearing cat, stopping in front of him and standing haughtily. "Excuse me, sir. What," he hissed through teeth, "do you think you are doing??" |
Demo quizzically looked around to find said shadow hound. "Well if he is your companion why is he not following you... or wait, he is hidden and keeps watch from the shadows am I correct?" He said putting his arm down for Richard to climb back up to his shoulder. He also made his way back tot the chair he had been in earlier.
She looked to him with a smile “Shade did not accompany me, I do not think the queen would like his presence, he will attack if I feel threatened” he said in honesty, it was more for the safety of others than anything else “Besides, my kind do not normally take companions... nor does his kind so I guess we are perfectly matched” she say happily as she watched the small dragon climb up his companion to sit on his shoulder, and watched as Demo came to sit on the chair beside her.
"Ah well that makes a lot of sense." He said in complete understanding. "Though would you excuse me a moment, I will be right back." He said rising from his chair. "I promise I won't get lost this time." He said looking at richard.
She smile contently as he spoke “Very much so, it is a pity he must stay where he is I feel so very vulnerable here without having a weapon or my mask on” she say her hand going to her arm, she would look down, she was lonely without her companion but smiled none the less “Please take your time, the ball is not going anywhere and nor am I” she say gently closing her eyes humming to herself
"Well then here hold my mask for me if you need." He smiled laying down the mask next to her. "I will be back lickity split, I mean soon." He laughed at the phrase he had just used and made his way to the lavatories.
She opened her eyes and held out her hands to take the simple and elegant mask “I will take good care of it for you” she say her eyes falling to the mask as she moved her thumb over it delicately “I understand, I haven't became that inhumane yet” she would say her hand clenching a little as she felt a little insulted that her intelligence had been attacked, but still she smiled “As I said I will be awaiting your arrival once more” she say closing her eyes
Demo cringed at the inhumane comment. He though inside his head, "What did you say dummy?" He tried to decipher it as he made his way to the lavatories. He ended up looking in the mirror and thinking to himself, "What are you hiding for?" And with this he removed the enchantment upon his appearance. His hair was now cut short and a golden blonde. His eyes now glowed like gold. Why he even thought that changing his hair and eye would stop him from blending in with the crowd before was beyond him. Along with this, his clothes transformed into a white and gold ensemble. Honestly if it was not for Richard he would look like another person. "Well lets see if I can figure out my way back." He said wondering down the halls, thankfully Richard had payed close attention and they were back to the grand hall. Sunlight now staring to slowly brighten the hall.
She would have continued to be sat in the same position that she had done before he left, her eyes where closed but her cheeks where wet, it wasn't like one such as her to show emotions let alone shed tears, but here she was a few specks of water on the delicate mask that sat on her lap as she realized one day she would lose all that she was and become like the rest of them. Hearing the quiet footsteps she opened her eyes and once again smiled “I am glad to see you have now dropped your façade and showed your true self” she whisper to him, as she stood her left hand going to her chest as she bowed “Warm returns” her voice was gentle and soothing as a mid-summer breeze
Demo pleasantly returned the bow. "I am sorry for that Ariiana. I was a tad foolish and scared to come here I must say. But you saw right through it. I appreciate it, you have know me for only a short while but you have been more of a friend than any before." His smile was warm and genuine as the sunlight that now leaked through the windows. He gently wiped the tear stains from her face. "What is wrong Ariiana? Was it what I foolishly said before I left?" Demo was not aware of the reason for the tears but he felt her tinge of pain at the touch of her skin.
She would stand and look to him with a faint smile “How where you to know? Not many of my kind still hold onto memories” her hand going to her necklace “One day I too will lose mine and at that point...” she bit her lip a little and shook her head, her ivory strands of hair once again dancing around her lithe form like newly fallen snow “I must not forget, I must remember” she would say quietly to herself before letting go of her pendant “You said you where of light, your hair and eye color where not right for a light Ascent so it wasn't to hard to figure out that you were wearing a mask” she would say as if it was a childish puzzle
Feeling his touch on her face she found herself pinking a little, it had been so long since someone had done such a thing, and for that second she relished in the kind act “You're words stung, it was almost as if you thought I didn't understand what you meant, that might be true in the future but for now I understand perfectly” she say holding his mask out to him “When I become like them fully, I will forget everything, even you... I want to cling to my happiness for as long as I can” she say letting him know why she had cried |
Demo maintained his smile while she spoke of her dark fate. "Ariiana, how can you ever truely forget when you are not forgotten by those who knew you?" He had hoped he could comfort her in some way. "Tell you what, once you have finished what you are to do here, you can come visit my home and think it as a place where you are safe to remember. Where no one can take your memories away. You can..." He pondered to himself. "You can even write about your experiences in a diary of sorts? The mental memories might fade with time but you can always read that instead?" He was making sense to himself but he didn't know how Ariiana would interpret what he just said.
She looked to him with sad eyes “You may remember me, but to me you'll be nothing more than a stranger, and annoyance” she say remembering how others had treated the ones they left behind, the mere thought of such a fate made her feel cold and dead inside “I would like that...” closing her eyes she shook her head “Time will remove them it is part of the curse that comes with what I am” she say sitting once more “I will cherish my memories as long as I have them” she say the continued smile on her face showing that she had accepted her fate “Even if I was to write them down it would be as if it was someone else's life” she would finish “Thank you for the concern though Demo, it means a lot to me” she finish her glowing blue eyes looking out the window as a dove flew by
Demo sighed and made his way to the windows, leaning against the panes. "Well think about it then, But if you do ever write your memories down. It will be safe in my Library." He said smiling as the he also noticed the dove. "It is amazing how something so pure can survive around these walls."
She looked to him and nodded to his word 'memorys are important they make us who we are' she though to herself for a moment "Perhaps I can write them down anyway so I am not forgotten" she whisper, as vain as it was she didn't want to be forgotten, she wanted to leave some evidence that she had actually existed. Hearing his words she nodded "Think of it as balance... nothing is purely evil... there is always that small flicker of purity" she would say keeping her voice low lest her words be heard

Michael had been just beginning to enjoy his evening when it seemed the universe saw fit to draw chaos his direction. The instant he merely scented that aggressive aroma, his ears went back against his head and he let out a low, long suffering sigh. What was it now..? He'd had plenty of hatred from other races- but this one smelled like his own.
The tone alone made him straighten himself up unwittingly and out of habit, shoulders poised as his hands splayed along the table; as though he were getting ready to begin furious work at his sewing machine. A slip one way or another would take the tip of a finger and thread it mercilessly. The question though, had the hair at the back of his neck standing on end, and he turned to look at this stranger who saw fit to use the same tone his mother always had when he was a kit. "Not that I don't appreciate the so nostalgic tone of disapproval; but what have I done Sir to warrant such a sudden and rude tone? I'm sure we're not acquainted enough for you to have that privilege." He fairly bristled, tone sharp, fingertips pressing into the tablecloth if only to keep them from jumping up to slap the intruder's face. He didn't care who he was- Nobody got to speak to him as though they were disapproving parents. He'd had enough of those already. |
Demo looked to Ariiana, "You cannot have the light without the dark." He turned his head to gaze out the windows into the gardens. "Make no mistake of course, Darkness does not always mean evil as well as light is not always pure."
She kept her eyes on the sky and smiled "Yes, there nothing truly pure, be it good or evil there is always push and pull within existence" she say standing once more "Perhaps if we find a shadow I can introduce you to shade" her voice filled with longing "I didn't say that either did, that is misleading Demo..." she began and walked away, her movements as graceful as they always where "I believe that there is only one pure force within this universe..." she stopped and turned to look at him her eyes making contact with his own "twilight" she finished in a gentle tone
