Nightmare killed her permanently

That would depend on which ending, if any of them, from SC4 is canon. They might make up a new ending to follow off of. I can't remember what they did for the other games.

Something tells me there would be a massive fan uprising if Siefreid were to be cut out. He appears in most or all the editions, doesn't he? Doesn't he have somem connection with Nightmare?

I believe he's been in all of them (though he was just an alt. costume for Nightmare in SC2). He was Nightmare for a while. Nightmare used to just be Soul Edge possessing Siegfried's body, but eventually he was exorcised by the Soul Calibur, leaving Nightmare just an animate suit of armor powered by Soul Edge. In 4, Siegfried became bonded with Soul Calibur in the same way.

It appears that he isn't anymore, though, since he's lost his ice armor in 5.

I can't speak of each game individually. It's been too lobng since I've played them. I will say that Nightmare is my favorite character.
Also, I don't remember which one it was in, I think 2, but there was a mode that was like an rts type thing where your characters ran around and took towers and stuff. I loved that mode.

That was Chronicles of the Sword in SC3. A lot of people have been clamoring for its return in SC5, so let's keep our fingers crossed. That was the best thing to ever happen to the series (well, that, and create-a-soul.)

All that I really want is a create-a-soul where what you look like doesn't influence your fighting ability. Maybe they could make stats and such a separite section.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind being able to level up weapon styles or even characters and having them have stat increases. But tying it into clothing is just dumb.

oooooooo, yes, I love alllllllll the games of this series, and own all but 4 since I do not yet have a system to play it on! Doesn't mean I've not played it, just don't own it LOL

Soul Blade: Taki, ninja chick for the win!
Soul Calibur 2: Ivy, OMG I still want her mock pirate outfit!
Soul Calibur 3: Aaaaaaaaaamy, pretty pretty loli will put the hurt on you!!
Soul Calibur 4: Hmm, toss up...I always love Raphael as a good secondary for any game, but this time I can be yoda AND Darth Vader...
Soul Calibur 5: CANNOT WAIT TO FIND OUT!!

As to sigfrieds connection ot nightmare, nightmare is the 'evil' that sigrieds soul created when he was possessed by the sword, so yeah, super connected.

I'm a fighting game NUT so really, I love this game for the fact that it's old school, great combos, great taunts, and faaaaaaaabulous designs! When they introduced Creat-a-Soul...well...then it just got perfect :)

I wonder if they're going to bring back a random character in 5. They didn't have one in 4 for some reason. Then again, I never really saw the appeal, given that there's a random button anyway.

really? I never noticed that they took that away, but I usually go right for my created character or raphael when I convince friends to play it

Maybe that's why they took it out. Who wants to play as some faceless, random mook like Charade? Not when there are custom characters to use, especially.

And about Raphael, did you get a feel for how much he changed on 4? I used to love playing as him, but he just felt so different, I couldn't get into his new moveset at all. Amy, now... that's where it's at. Used to destroy people online with her.

Okay, funnily enough I found raphael easier to use, but some of his moves reverted to his soul blade ones, which I knew better than the 'new' moves of 2 and 3. Amy, yeah, I can kill eeeeeeeveryone with her.

I loved her outfit in 3, made perfect sense...but then...the fur...and the bad corset..and the combat boots...its like every bad hot topic moment rolled into one.

Here is the most recent trailer, showing all the new characters. I like Zwei (the guy with the one-handed sword about halfway through). There's speculation that he's a werewolf.

And... it is... so... lovely to see that Ivy maintains here time-honored tradition of not wearing pants. :|

Ivy was best when she had that pirate costume you mentioned above. I don't really see how the way she dresses fits her character, given she's like... a celibate hermit or something, isn't she?

er, well...I think they're more matching her weapon, a 'whip' sword and all...and besides, they could only milk Taki's painted on ninja suit for so long before they needed something skimpier.
but yes, this and Ivys pirate outfit are now my favourites...though I did like her SC2 alternate as well. Can't wait to see everyone else's looks!

I also noticed that Mitsurugi's hair is black in that trailer. I wonder why. It's been 17 years... and he'd look badass with gray hair. :p

I really hope they bring Zasalamel back. He's immortal, so there's no reason to write him out of the story due to age. I always love flinging people around with his scythe.

Yeah, those two are the masters of unpredictability. Always tough to go against when someone skilled is using them.

Is there a secret character in SC3? Can't recall if it was SC3 or 4 but I was reading about speculation that Dante was going to appear, causing much debate as whether or not it was true, especially given the Capcom and whomever own SC apparently really don't like each other.
