Part time is still good though.. it's something anyway =) I'm gonna follow up with McDonald's tomorrow on another application I filled out for them last night. I hope to hear good news, and to possibly get an interview anytime tomorrow after the phone call...

Echo-chan713 08-16-2011 12:08 AM

I forgot what I applied for or even what she said cause I said that My top job is a cashier then the secondary was any

Holly 08-16-2011 10:44 AM

I currently earn $8 an hour as an office assistant.
But I do enjoy my job. So, that helps.
I have an interview for a part time RN position on Thursday.
I'm still in school for my bachelors degree in nursing.
So, I actually /want/ part time.
Only bad thing is the fact that the job is night shift...

Ginger 08-16-2011 06:41 PM

Sooooo facking excited right now!!! I might be getting a job at the local movie theater!!!! It's my favorite movie theater ever. There are blacklights that light up the aisles and biiiiiig blacklight posters on both sides of the theater. I can't wait for tomorrow! Wish me luck!!!

Echo-chan713 08-16-2011 07:28 PM

I may get a job at a factory hat makes those custom golf club head covers XD

Lioshika 08-16-2011 09:58 PM

I talked to Autumn. I asked her if they changed my time because I had seen that the schedule told me 11:30-5, but online now shows I am to be 4-9:30. She said it was never posted as such, and to not go by the online one; that it was always 4-9:30 and it was impossible for me to have seen the one that said 11:30-5. I told her I got it from the one in the break room, not the online site. She said it was impossible because the second she posted it she realized and changed it. I told her I had plans I wasn't sure I could break. I then asked how much notice they have to give me when they change my schedule like that and she said "Immediately". I was NEVER told. Then less than an hour later she asked if I would work on my day off, 22nd, a 1-9:30 shift. She said it'd put me at 37.5 hours. I said max 20. The audacity this little crapper has!
All this after she sent me to go tuck my shirt in. She didn't send the new girl or Kelly to tuck theirs in, just me.

So now what do you think I should do? I'm thinking of telling them Thursday I couldn't change my plans and asking them what they're gonna do about it.

Fey 08-16-2011 10:44 PM

Do NOT pull that on Thursday, or if you try pleeeeeeeease show up for your shift, they can use it to terminate you(in certain states) without notice. Don't jepordize having a job for this. Talk to her manager and let that person know that issues are going on.

Lioshika 08-16-2011 11:03 PM

I didn't say I wouldn't show up for shift. I am just saying I may ask them what they're gonna do about it because I can't change plans I made based on the schedule that was posted. I was not notified of any change. Plus they're not respecting anything. My mom said I should bring in the Dept. of Labor because they post times weird. Say it says you work 8-5. It will tell you that is 8.5 hours of working, the break schedule shows the same thing and says that lunch is 30 minutes. However, it really is that you're lunch is 45 minutes, but they tell you you're working the 8.5, but pay you 8.25.

Ginger 08-17-2011 07:48 PM

The interview for the movie theater just ended and I'm feeling pretty good about it =)

I couldn't stop smiling! I was excited.. lol. I don't know if they took me seriously or not because of it, buuut I hope they understand it was my first interview.

Echo-chan713 08-17-2011 07:54 PM

I can't wait till I get my interview at rocket tour

Ginger 08-17-2011 08:05 PM

I wish you luck ~

Echo-chan713 08-17-2011 09:26 PM

you too Gingy

Ginger 08-18-2011 09:08 PM

Well.. I'm not feeling too confident that I got the job. During the interview they asked me if I could count change, and I messed up because I answered too fast. I was a dollar off =/ Who knew that a dollar could wave my chances of getting a life?

Lioshika 08-18-2011 10:52 PM

I was never asked about things like if I could do math. It was assumed.

I also just found out that even though I told them I wouldn't work more than 15 hours once school started, they have me at 30 hours during the first two weeks of school. I told the one I could not do it; simply could not. She told me I have no choice. And then the higher up manager tells me he doesn't want this to be a confrontation between me and the lady who oversees our section. But then said I had to work it. I mentally/physically can't.

Ginger 08-18-2011 11:58 PM

That sounds like a pain in the ass...

Echo-chan713 08-19-2011 04:51 PM

I got the job XD

Ginger 08-19-2011 07:45 PM

Very cool!! Congratulations!

Lioshika 08-19-2011 08:48 PM

Congrats Echo!

Ginger; What sounds like a pain?

Ginger 08-19-2011 09:19 PM

Your situation sounds like a pain.. lol

Lioshika 08-19-2011 09:40 PM

Very much so.
It is most anger causing.

Fey 08-19-2011 09:56 PM

O.o I don't think they can FORCE you to work more than you're available. If your store manager isn't going to do something about it go to his manager, I promise something will happen.

Serra Britt 08-19-2011 10:14 PM

I read about your situation, Liosh...and it just makes me upset. You're unavailable for SCHOOL! Why can't they understand this? >.>

Lioshika 08-19-2011 10:14 PM

I'll have to see if Mike is there tomorrow. Generally you have to go to the manager of your department. I dunno that I can handle that many hours during the first week of school. Let alone any time of school.

Serra; It's why I'm sorry I didn't fudge how many hours of class I had. But they feel that because they're short staff and I have openings in my schedule that I can be pushed up to 30. I said absolute max of 15. Autumn says "That's what you want, not what we need."
-__- Damn bloody vacuous idiot she is.

Wow...hell in the US I'd LOVE to earn that dollar amount for what I actually do (so I'm earning like $10 more than I should haha...well 8. I'm getting paid $2 less than the county only a mile down the road.)

Hahah lol no. XD
I just took that as an example.

Ginger 08-28-2011 09:36 PM

Lol well.. this whole job searching thing is wayyyy harder than I thought it would be when I was just a wee child.

Then again, the economy wasn't crap back then and the world wasn't as populated.

Echo-chan713 08-29-2011 12:17 AM

as well as even though a lot of jobs went overseas, but now it's more jobs being sent over seas and being outsourced

NOW I DON'T HAVE A JOB >BI

Lioshika 08-30-2011 10:06 PM

Take my job? I am absolutely disgusted by it.

Kylie 08-30-2011 10:42 PM

My current job is "Certified Nursing Assistant".

My dream job? I don't really have one.....but I do hope to finish Nursing school soon and become a "Registered Nurse".

CNA's make around $8.50-$14.00/hr. I make somewhere around the middle of that since I've only been a CNA for roughly 3 years and worked at my place for only 2.

After I become a Nurse I'll be banking $18.00-$25.00/hr. YES! I can't wait! I'll finally be able to provide more for my family and not worry about my finances and debts. :(

Gallowsraven 08-31-2011 10:04 AM

I'm the only one who can help me get my dream job of a published writer of fiction and poetry, but for now i have to make do with being told to apply for jobs that, without fail, don't get back to me at all.

Too few vacancies and too many applying for it. They stop paying attention after a few days of the vacancy being open.

littl3chocobo 08-31-2011 10:57 AM

i make a dollar over min wage *shrugs* but it's ok as long as i'm not poverty level even if some days i am close

Ginger 08-31-2011 02:02 PM

I'd have to say that as of right now, I am of the poverty-stricken level. I make $0 an hour at the moment and since I haven't had an official job yet, I can't even collect unemployment. I just have to keep applying and hoping for a damn miracle.

DarkForbidden-Love 08-31-2011 07:05 PM

Jobs

Current Job: School
Dream Job: Computer virus examiner
I have always loved talking apart anything I could find including compiter programs. Plus, taking apart viruses will also help create better anti-virus programs. My science teacher was actually the one to point out that if I could fix her smart board and laptop without help I obviously have some proficiancy in computer arts. I have to say if I went into this though, I would get a part time jod in acting. Acting isn't my dream jod just a passion I have had forever.

Lioshika 09-01-2011 01:06 AM

Guys; I looked up my paycheck to see what I'll be picking up Friday, and it shows I worked EXACTLY 29 hours. But if you add up all the time I was scheduled, minus lunch times, it is 29.75 hours. And one of the nights I was there 5 hours and 59 minutes. The shift was only 5 and half hours. Plus most shifts we are to sign in 5 minutes early and I've been paid the time before.

how do I solve this one? I am going to the manager tomorrow but I KNOW he will say it's accurate.
