Alexander Linden 08-21-2011 05:03 PM

My art teachers used to scold me for it in High School. xD

Poggio 08-21-2011 05:07 PM

I can't draw anime to save my life. I've been realistically trained.

Demonskid 08-21-2011 05:08 PM

my art teacher made no sense D8 she said every ones head was the same shape... but I always seen all sort of shapes and stuff.. =(

like a friend of mine had a round face where my ex's face was skinny and long

Alexander Linden 08-21-2011 05:09 PM

Poggio - Realistically trained?

DK - Seriously? Then why do people at salons learn about different face/head shapes and sizes when deciding what sort of hair cut would look nice with their shape?

Demonskid 08-21-2011 05:12 PM

Its probably the reason I prefer learning anime like styles instead of realistic xD

though if someone stayed still long enough I could draw them pretty well. I can draw stuff I see. But if it's in my mind with out a physical image i have a pretty hard time.

Poggio 08-21-2011 05:12 PM

yeah, I've been taught to draw from life and to render realistically, ( Example ) its hard. And then to try to make something graphic and simplistic takes me a while.

Alexander Linden 08-21-2011 05:26 PM

Charcoal? I still have charcoal and charcoal pencils. Haven't really used them in a while though.

Poggio 08-21-2011 05:29 PM

Si, its fun. XD this thread is making me want to clean my desk and go draw. I might do that later. I haven't made a pattern in a while.

Demonskid 08-21-2011 05:31 PM

aya ueto - Kansho
my first time ever drawing a live person *i used a music video on pause*

-w- i do better with anime/manga style

Milfeulle

Alexander Linden 08-21-2011 05:31 PM

Cleaning is good.

Demonskid 08-21-2011 05:35 PM

I need to clean my room.. so many water bottles are in here D8

Alexander Linden 08-21-2011 05:36 PM

I need to clean too...

Poggio 08-21-2011 05:36 PM

Lol, I need to organize my chaos. It never really gets clean.

sorry for the way back reply but yea the drawings look crap but there are some that are really nice like the monster books made by a studio. Most of the illustrators I seem to find in those how to draw is Christopher Hart.

Alexander Linden 08-21-2011 05:42 PM

The Monster manga books are terrible too.

Demonskid 08-21-2011 05:44 PM

If I wanna draw a monster I'll look up a online tutorial. OxO

Poggio 08-21-2011 05:45 PM

Hmm it really depends on what your level of art is. A how to draw book can only tell you so much before its useless and should start trying to draw from other examples then out of your head.

My friend has the monster book of Erotic drawing, it doesn't really help XD. It just shows you have to draw Cat girls and panty shots.

Echo-chan713 08-21-2011 05:46 PM

I like them, their not like tutorials but it's for me on how to do the guides nicely in my view.

I think why everyone goes for Chris Harts work is because he does a huge variety of cartooning, yea his anime sucks ass but his american cartooning isn't bad.

I got his fairy drawing books cause someone wanted me to draw a fairy and I could really get a solid idea.

DK: the monster manga books is a series by studios that is at least a hundred or so pages and heavy as hell and teaches you from guides to how to do coloring it on the computer and their are chapters to it. I have 2 or 3 of them. at our barnes and noble we can get one of them for $24

Demonskid 08-21-2011 05:52 PM

yea I don't know of any barns and nobles around here.. we HAD boarders but they are gone.

it's cheaper to look things up online anyway xD doesn't cost money. (no one would pay that much for a book for me) =(

Echo-chan713 08-21-2011 05:55 PM

well my dad got them for me for my birthday as well as a drawing tutorial by Ben Dunn

Poggio 08-21-2011 05:56 PM

I like the books by Ben Dunn, they have more then just how to draw figures in them.

Echo-chan713 08-21-2011 05:58 PM

yea so do I and one of my Ben Dunn books gives you tips on how to present yourself to a manga publishing company such as good hygiene, act professional, show with your portfolio, etc. I hope he makes more of them

Poggio 08-21-2011 06:11 PM

XD I like the how to draw Marvel comics/the DC's guide to (Inking/lettering penciling). As well as animation basics.

Echo-chan713 08-21-2011 06:14 PM

It's been a long time since I bought a drawing book because it's been monopolized by the same artist that does crap work (but still maybe better than mine). at Michael's they have an how to draw anime kit by Chris hart XP

Poggio 08-21-2011 06:18 PM

Bleh, they don't have the how to draw fantasy books any more?
yeah thats why I rely on the library. They pretty much cater to teens at one of the library's we have so they buy any how to draw book they can get their hands on. The one by Stan lee are pretty amazing.

Echo-chan713 08-21-2011 06:20 PM

Our libraries don't have the how to draw books, but in the teens sections all of their mangas are Naruto, bleach, and shojo manga XP

Poggio 08-21-2011 06:40 PM

your library sucks. The head of our teen services department wrote the book on why graphic novels are a great educational source for teens/children. Shes the reason there is such a variety in our library and not just manga, we have superhero books too.

This is the left part of my desk. You can see my purse (full of makeup), a few Pokemon cards I was sorting out to auction on Listia, and the left half of my laptop. Also, a really bright patch of sunlight peeking in through the curtain.

This is the right of my desk. I have a jewelry box on the raised part(the little dresser thing), a black cordless phone, and iPod, a case for my glasses under my iPod, two pairs of headphones and a facial cleanser under the raised part, a non-working computer mouse, and my binder of Pokemon Cards that I was sorting through.

And here I am, concentrating really hard on posting my workspace on Trisphee XD

Please keep in mind, I'm going crazy at the cleanliness of my workspace. It usually resembles a tornado, and my room usually resembles a train wreck xD

Ginger 08-21-2011 07:14 PM

I've added a touch of my art to my workspace. It's a WIP but soon to be finished I hope..

Cyanide Lollipop 08-21-2011 08:01 PM

c: Threads like this are fun. I'm just a computer nerd, so no artistic stuff but here's my desk:

Kinda cut off the far right, but you can see most of it. c: Including my laptop, my papercraft TARDIS (which is coming apart T__T), my mp3 player (to the right of the mouse) annd.. some tiny Transformers toys. Those are about the only neat things I have on it, aside from the Nightmare Before Christmas calendar/pen holder c:

Fey 08-21-2011 08:39 PM

LOL you say desk and workspace, but mine are two separate things, on two different floors of my house. My desk houses just my computer and it's accessories, the dungeon houses my 'work' space. It's a two car tandem garage and it's full to be brim LOL

I should take a shot of the dungeon...I'm particularly fond of my wall of heads....

I see a hall of mirrors!

Fey - Well then show us both! xD

LOL nice double post there...and I have to get all the dishes away from my computer first LOL I'm too lazy to run things downstairs

Alexander Linden 08-21-2011 09:27 PM

Because of the hall of mirrors no doubt. xD

Fey 08-21-2011 09:34 PM

I hate when those get loose and cause chaos

17th 08-21-2011 09:37 PM

No pictures. I need another battery for my camera, lol. But, my desk/workspace is covered in paper, bills and magazines. My file folder is there, as well as my purse and some random things (stuffed animals, a big bag of clay, trophies, CDs, etc). And my mini table is also covered in paper, drawings, sketchbooks and other random crap that I can't really identify atm. >o>;

Chaos happens all the time! xD

Fey 08-21-2011 09:55 PM

I've nothing against chaos, thrive on it really, but I hate when it gets out, I mean, I have a leash and everything for it.

Jurinjo 08-22-2011 12:37 PM

I wish this thread was requested when I had a desk with DRAWERS. >=I
I like to compartmentalize all off my desk things- quite fun in my opinion. Alas I have a cheap, probably mainstays, desk right now. All my crap gets throw askew where there is availible space then it falls on the floor...or finds it's way on another possible surface...actually my room as a whole looks like crap. Should I just take a picture of that instead? xD Too lay at the moment. it's not too far before 1pm and I have to be up at 8:30 to shower =(
