Evan tried to keep his temper in check which was hard enough without insulting words. "No, I'm sure I have worded it correctly." He said snidly. "And if I really wanted to, I could have any woman eating out of my hand. But my first and only love is my ship and the sea."
|
( LOL. Forgive her, she is a cheeky and confrentational woman. She enjoys annoying people)
Scarlett grinned cheekily. She knew she was testing his temper, and she was waiting for him to break down. Men like Evan were fun to toy with, always so serious and so stiff. "Those women are called Whores Dicaprio, and they don't count, since they do that sort of thing for any man with money" she said with mirth. Turning on her heel she allowed her hair to whip violently in his direction, sending water flying straight into his face. |
(Nothing to be forgiven, it is just an RP. And I'm going to opoligize for his offensive saying right now because it is not true. )
Evan wiped the water our of his eyes with the arm not holding the sword. His grin had turned feral, "All woman are whores and that includes you." It was rude and uncalled for but he was beyound caring now, the girl had pushed a few too many of his buttons. "And your petty tatics are changing my mind." |
Without a word, or a sound, she swung around and closed the gap of distance between the two of them.
With eyes truly befitting of someone named the Red Devil, she glared at him coldly. It was a look almost as cold as the blade of her sword, which she had pressed to his throat. "It would do you well to learn to control your tongue. I will not tolerate your sexist rants. Call me a whore one more time and I will make sure it is the last time you speak" she hissed, the air around her dropping to frigid degrees. (No offense taken :D ) |
Evan gave a little chcule as though a sword was not actually pressed against his neck. "I do believe we have had this conversation before?" He tone was arrogence mixed with something else. "And shame to you, not playing out the tradition female role, Little Devil." Evan stared back into the Red Devil's eyes, his own burning yet dead. "Kill me now and I go silent, kill me later I go silent, let me live and I speak not a word. It won't matter to me, every man must face his maker and every child too."
|
Withdrawing her sword, her glare remained cold.
She spat at this feet and resheethed her weapon. "Your blood is worth less than the effort it would take to wipe it off my blade" she said. She stepped away again, but stopped to look over her shoulder. " You should know that this place is filled with terrible things... I wouldn't talk so lightly about meeting your maker, because it just might be so" she stated, before leaving for her camp. |
Evan have s light snort, he was not impressed by the other's speach and stalked off to his own camp. The other's words made his blood boil and only considerable effect stopped him for attempted to kill her.
|
Once she reached her camp, she sat with little grace next to the fire. Picking up the rabbit from earlier, she took a savage bite.
"I really wish he had drowned" she muttered to herself. " Fifteen years old... Who is he kidding?!" she glowered. Staring down at a puddle, she puffed out her chest and tried to admire her figure. Her lack of breasts was a sore spot for her, and she was irritated of the possibility that he might have figured that out. As rough and gritty as she could be, she was still a woman, and she had womanly pride. Tonight that pride was very injured. The rabbit had lost its appeal and she set it aside for later, curling into a small ball on the floor, she closed her eyes and tried to drift off to sleep. "I bet he hasn't seen a pair of breasts since his Mother weened him" she chuckled darkly. (I love character quirks) |
(Ah, yes the beauty of character quirks}
He ended up pacing for a while and beating his knuckles to a bloody pulp agaist the rock face. He was ashamed that he had called all women whores because that was unfair to the female populace. He was sure there were a few, he just had not met them. Evan gave his hands a dirty glare as though it was all their fault. "Bloody temper." He muttered. |
Scarlett woke to a terrifying chill creeping up her spine.
Her eyes slid open, and she realized that her camp fire had gone out... Or had it? Why didn't anything look familiar? Thats when she realized she was not at all where she had gone to sleep. In fact, she was being dragged slowly through a rough patch of something white and brittle by something that did not look at all human. Instinct told her to reach for her saber. Which would have been great if it had been anywhere near her. But ,as it was, her weapon was no where in sight. So she did the next best thing. She screamed her lungs out. |
Evan heard the scream from his campsite and stood up. Sleep had evaded him tonight, but none the less he took of towards the source of the scream. His first thought was the Little Devil, and that caused him to frown. Why would she be screaming?
|
Scarlett had managed to get a hold of a tree trunk and was currently hanging on for her dear life.
"Let me go!" she screamed, attempting to kick away her attacker. Though, it would have been more accurate to just admit that her attacker was a monster... Because it was. Whatever had been attempting to drag her off to who knows where had no defining facial features whatsoever, except for two blackened holes where eyes should have been. It was tall and bone thin, with hands that were nearly all long, hard fingers. It was the color of alabaster, and made a slight clicking noise when it moved. Just thinking about it gave her the chills. As it tugged at her ankle, she attempted to kick it away with her free leg, landing a solid blow to its head. The creature seemed not to notice. |
Evan ran fast to the place of origination for the scream and what he saw shocked him slightly. He pinched himself first to make sure he was not dreaming then went to rescue the Little Devil. Stepping between her and the beast, Evan leveled it a glare before loping off its head. "And of couse I leave you for a couple of hours and you get kidnapped by some nightmare monster," he muttered crossly.
|
As the monster let go of her ankle, her body flopped ungracefully to the ground, belly side down.
"Oof!" she groaned, laying there for a few seconds before getting to her knees. Her face and clothes were covered in dirt and her hair was full of leaves from being dragged in her sleep. With a white face and wide eyes she pointed straight at Dicaprio. "I-I told you so! There are strange things here!" she hissed, reaching up to pull a twig from her hair. When she pulled it out and glanced at it, she gave a yelp of horror and tossed it past Evans head. "B-bones!" she stammered, taking in the land around them. Indeed, the ground was littered with skeletal remains, gleaming pale white in the moonlight. |
Evan raised an eyebrow as he dodged the projectile. "Yes, I'm aware of that. Any where are carnivorious beast resides there will be bones." He bent down and examined the bones then grinned, "And this creature will eat anything."
|
She couldn't help but pout childishly at him. Feeling that she at least owed him some gratitude for slaying the monster, she held her tongue.
Walking to the monsters corpse, she searched around, looking for her saber. When she did not find it, she cursed. "Where did that bloody thing go..." she grumbled. Looking at Evan she shot him a curious look. "Why did you help me?" she asked. |
Evan shrugged. "Your screams would not allow me to sleep." And the fact that even Evan would not allow someone to be killed on his watch while it was avoidable. "Here." He said shoving a small knife's handle into her hand. "Till you find you toy."
|
She took the knife, biting her tongue once more about his quip about her sword.
"Thanks..." she answered, raising a brow at him. Pacing a few seconds, she stopped and looked at him. " We have to get off of this Island as quickly as possible or we'll both die" she stated. Rubbing her chin thoughtfully she looked at him. " We need to begin building a boat as soon as morning sets in" she replied. |
"Are you qualified to build a boat?" Evan asked more then sure the island doesn't even hold the poper material to build one. "And we'll only die by monster if we don't kill each other first." He flashed the other a grin, all teath.
|
She finally had her fill of being polite. Snorting she eyed him. "Its easy for you to say, its not like any of those beasts want to eat something as terribly unappealing as you..." she muttered.
"Besides... I don't want to be stuck here... I have places to go and people to see... Living in a damp, beast filled forest may be your idea of fun and games... But I would much prefer a nice hot bathtub and some warm ale..." she answered crossly. |
Evan shrugged, "All the better for me and all the worse for you. Plsu, warm ale? Ale is always best served cold. And baths are over rated." He grins at the last part acting like an 11 year old who doesn't want to take a bath.
|
" I can tell that you loath baths... That's probably what kept those beasts from dragging you away" she quipped.
Leaning forward, she reached forward and pretended to collect dirt from behind his ear. " See, its just as I imagined, filthy" she mused. |
Evan grinned at the other, "Sure all you find back there will be dirt?" He is not offended by the fact he does not take a bath and so is not angered by the other's statement. "And if it protects me from the beasts, why should I complain?"
|
"I dont know, maybe you'll find potatos back there in a few days" she said mockingly.
Stepping on a bone, she looked around with a slightly disgusted face, until she realized they were all human bones. " Feeding grounds..." she muttered to herself. Her people had many superstitious stories about creatures of the night. As a child she hadn't really believed them, now she sorely regretted not taking her Grandmothers words seriously. |
Evan smiled, "My own garden, how convient." He was not too disturded by the human bones, he had seen worse then this. Sure, Evan did not believe in giant man eating creature even after seeing one but the sight of hundreds of human bones was a common one. "Yep, just be happy you aren't amoung the dead right now, Little Devil."
|
Scarlett looked at him disbelievingly. She chalked his reaction up to shock and extended her hand to him.
" I think in light of the situation it would be okay to just call each other by our names. My name is Scarlett" she introduced. |
Evan took the offered hand but said, "I can call you Scarlett and you can call me Evan." He was not sure if the other knew his first name but offered it anyways.
|
She shook his hand. "Alright Evan, if you don't think we can build a boat, then what do you think we should do?" she asked.
She was very aware of every creak and bump in the night as of this moment, and did not feel like becoming food again. |
"Raft might work better." He said simply. "Plus much easier to make." Evan noticed the other's unease and said, "Leaving the imediate area might be the best idea though."
|
She snorted lightly, considering how a raft WOULD be easier to make, but its obvious disadvantage to the torrid seas.
Though, anything would be better then being torn limb from limb. "Fine, a raft should be sufficient" she admitted, not eager to let him know that he had a good idea. She nodded as he announced it would be better to leave the area. |
Evan gave an exaggerated bow, "You first, m'lady." M'lady was said sarcastically. "And you moght not want to head back to your camp, it might be crawling with these critters, just saying."
