I'm not sure if it's just a theory or actually true but how people say all the lion king movies were based on Shakespeare stuff. There are some definite similarities which I think is kinda cool.

Crass 03-11-2013 02:37 AM

I think with enough thought put into it you could relate a lot of stories to something as old as Shakespeare.

There are definitely similarities between Hamlet and the first Lion King what with a death in the royal family that would ultimately change the order of the crown.

toxxic 03-11-2013 03:00 AM

Well I found this a while ago which points out more similarities between each of the Lion King movies and Shakespeare's plays.

My original statement still stands. You can compare anything as old as Shakespeare and find accurate similarities in present day stories.

I just never cared but studies shown that subliminal messages don't work. So why put the effort into something that doesn't work

HOLY CRAP THIS THREAD IS 2 YEARS OLD!!!! O-O

and there are MANY MORE

It's not "SEX", it's "SFX" -- you might notice it's always hidden in some complicated animation; this is the Special Effects team showing off. It's not a subliminal message; it's a little shout-out.

People have dirty minds

I wish Disney wasn't so afraid to move on to Horror movies, Y'know?

Eboneye 06-04-2013 10:16 AM

Yea, Disney isn't just for kids anymore.

Lestrade 06-14-2013 09:27 PM

Will everyone posting in this thread PLEASE go to the Snopes section about Disney? Almost all these "dirty" things aren't actually things at all.

I don't really see "dirty" things in Disney animation movies. To me, its more the humor. Its changed a lot since Snow White. Some of it is geared more for adults but its over the kids heads so the little ones just don't get it.

Thank you so much for clarifying this. I've seen all of these youtube videos and such that everyone is freaking out saying that disney corrupted childs minds with subliminal messages. And i never thought that they were really there, even as I was shown them.

As for things I didn't notice about Disney. There is actually quite a long list. And I'm intrigued to know other people didn't notice these things, and it wasn't just me living under a rock that stopped me from noticing things.
Much of it, is adult humor in the movies that I never would have noticed, or though was funny as a child, but was a mere line being said by the characters.
I'm also paying more attention to the movies' plots themselves instead of just the songs. And finding I actually LIKE all these movies i used to dislike as a child. (beauty and the beast and little mermaid for example.) I always liked the songs, but I never liked the movies. now the movies are amazing.

I don't even remember one of Gaston's songs existing before he and the mob go to Beast's castle. Is this an added scene?

XrosHeartless 08-27-2013 10:47 PM

Yeah, you'd be surprised what got in there. It's great.

Shadami 08-28-2013 10:19 AM

So that song is an added scene? Or are you just agreeing about disney?

I'm sorry, but what? Disney is and has always been family oriented. It was never meant to be just for kids or just for adults. They still make many movies/shows that all age groups can enjoy, including children. The only reason it seems 'not for kids' is because we can't see movies with the innocence of children anymore. Obviously Disney is gonna sneak a joke here and there that might go over a child's head because the movies are made for all age groups. I think Disney is definitely still for kids and always will be. Walt would be enraged if it ever wasn't.

I have a lot of feelings about Disney you guys, I'm sorry. I'm not saying they haven't had their bad points, every company has. But they're not sex crazed or trying to send kids subliminal messages, as has been clarified by Coda, and they're not steering away from children either.
