Tasunke had just polished off the pickle when the bottle of bubbly lemon-lime liquid was pushed towards him. Downing the beverage he watched the other boy head back inside. Then stared at the iPad he had left on the table. With a grin that went unseen under his beard, he reached across the table and snatched the little computer up. Quickly bypassing any of the boy’s security locks, he then pulled up the Word program that was installed and left a quick message before moving on to his next objective. Delving deeper into the computer systems he finally located what he was looking for. After a brief scan and a few well placed codes he pinpointed a rift. Setting the iPad back on the table he typed in one last code, and with a flash of light he was gone.

Funkduder 12-05-2011 11:23 PM

"No problem," he said, eying the newcomer. Although it was harder to tell at first sight, he was definitely a she. Now that he thought about it, each of them seemed to be particularly different which seemed to beg the question, 'why were they here' to be answered.

Espy 12-05-2011 11:24 PM

"Thanks, and well, I'm sorry." Sky half-hoped the venom in her voice would wash away the awkwardness of falling on someone, and was about to turn away when she noticed a fox materialize out of seemingly nowhere...

...and land on the same person's head.

Oh dear god.

Sky took a few paces forward to help, then sat down suddenly as a wave of nausea swept over her. When she had recovered sufficiently, the next question was blurted out without much thought.

"The hell'm I here for?"

Broken Muse 12-05-2011 11:26 PM

"The twins are these two, right?" Theresa asked pointing to the two orbs. "And as for them fighting over me, get the other person here so they can choose between us two." Wait, she did a quick head count there were seven creatures, five people and one on the way. "Do you have a creature?" Theresa asked, "Or do you keep a spare around?" Deva had said 'person' as singular yet two creatures remained unpaired, the bird and the twin that did not pick her. She was mostly ignoring the squabble between the people with the fox and the cat because something told her it was not terribly important unless the bird did not like the newcomer.

Obbiesan 12-05-2011 11:29 PM

Trace couldn't see a thing all he knew he was falling and he wasn't sure where he was going. After a few moments he hit the ground and opened his eyes, he was in a weird place and surrounded by people he didn't know that is until looked over and saw Iris.

"Iris what are you doing here ?" he said. Wait did I just talk where the hell am i that i can talk this is getting quite weird. "Iris where are we whats going on ?" He continued as a small Nightingale flew over and landed on his shoulder.

Alpha 12-05-2011 11:33 PM

Looking around, Fallon noticed that all of the portals were now grey. With the fox still on his head he looked at the girl who had fallen on him and stated, "I think this belongs to you," pointing to his head. He picked it up and handed it to her, turning to Deva next. "Okay, we're all here, so what now? We all have questions, and we definitely want some answers."
Surveying the now assembled group, he wondered what could have caused them all to be selected. He hoped that there was some reason for his being here at least, namely putting his combat skills to good use. With this thought the cat stretched, extending its claws. He hoped that it never had reason to use them on him again....they really hurt! A wave of something akin to an apologetic tone hit him then, and he gathered that it hadn't meant to hurt him. Holy crap! He could feel what the cat was thinking...this was starting to get a bit weird.

Funkduder 12-05-2011 11:36 PM

And the familiarity of our final person breaks that chain. We are not here to represent different groups of people, Tony thought, crossing out another possibility.

He called to Deva, disregarding the conflict between the black and white critters. "Why are we here, and where is 'here'?" he asked, simply.

Mizeria 12-05-2011 11:36 PM

Iris spun 'round and spotted Trace. Not who she was expecting.
"Did you just TALK? You've been holding out on me all these years?! You can TALK!?" Her jaw almost hit the floor. That was it. This is a dream. Trace... can't talk. She felt like she was losing her mind. Something was really wrong... with all of this.
She turned to Deva, "So Fallon says we altogether now? Can we get on with this... whatever this is? Some of us have lives to get back to..." Iris wasn't sure what to think... what to believe. If this was just a dream then it would be over soon. Yet if it was real... how could this be real...

Espy 12-05-2011 11:37 PM

Sky gaped stupidly at the fox for a moment before hugging it tight. It's so cute. ....it'ssocutesocutesocutecutecutecuuuuuute.

"Erm. ...Thanks," she muttered, trying to hide her reaction. The fox looked, or rather glared, at her, seeming to accuse Sky for nearly strangling it, and she let it go quickly.

Broken Muse 12-05-2011 11:41 PM

Theresa coughed to hide the laugh when the falling lady tryed to strangle the fox. But her question still remain unanswered, "Sweety," She said to Diva not bother to use her real name, "Why do I still have two creatures? Because despite my many talents, I am not two people." She was one whole, sane person so why did two creatures fight over her instead of finding someone else to bother?

Tiva 12-05-2011 11:45 PM

Clapping her hands like an excited child Deva looked at the new comer as the last portal closed, she was still missing one but the program had been completed. "It seems like the program I made for you worked, I didn't think that everyone here would know sign language so I recoded it to where your voice here works. I hope you don't mind...."
Looking at the six of them she hoped that the maker knew what they were doing when they made this fail safe. "I am Deva, and this is cyberspace or what you call the internet." She lightened her walls to show them her home as they got a view of the towers near her and the ground far below "You have been chosen to save this land, so you can save your own. What you call viruses in your world are actual things here, they are destroying this world with hopes that it too will destroy your own world." She pulled up several viruses, including Audrey and Veda, on screens showing them what they would face. "I need you to fix what they have broken and ultimately kill them, so this world will be safe."
Pointing to the Guardian Animals she grinned "These are your guardians, they will give you powers once I release them.... Then you can save this world." Pulling up another screen she typed in the final amount of code before looking at them. "Any questions? Oh well.." She clicked the screen and instantly white lights started to appear around the room as they took on their cyber forms.

Alpha 12-05-2011 11:51 PM

"Wait, what...." Fallon started before the white lights appeared. After his eyes adjusted again he realized that he looked different. His clothing had changed. All of a sudden he noticed a weight on his back and reached back to find that a giant curved sword was slung there. He decided against bringing it out so as not to scare the others, but looked around to see that they had changed as well. As he reached to make sure they were real, he noticed two things. One, that there was a tribal claw tattooed on his upper left arm, and two that there seemed to be bits of water forming on his fingertips, moving with him, but not quite touching him. "Okay, what just happened here? Why did we all change?"

(Edit: creatures don't disappear)

Broken Muse 12-05-2011 11:52 PM

Theresa was sure something was going wrong with the program because it felt like she was being ripped in half. She was not quite sure when it started but she was screaming. Another voice similiar to hers joined in. Theresa caught a glimpse of white before her world went black.

Annalisa felt relieved to finally be able to move freely from the body that had originally confined her but felt bad for her sister. Carefully she caught Theresa as she slid to the floor and whispered in her ear, "Your safe now, my little sister." She looked at and locked eyes with Deva. "Hello," She said pleasantly as though dividing into two people was a common occurance. "Pleasure to make your acquantances I'm sure."

And yet more contradictions, Tony thought. Other then the fact that they were all there, all thinking that this was a dream when none of them were waking up, including himself, Tony noted the reaction: A) He could now talk when he couldn't before, meaning that this place does something to the people within, B) Iris never knew Trace, but if Trace responded in like, then... C) Trace could have always talked... either way the reaction shows a contradiction in a normal human response. She couldn't just react so vividly and calmly go back to talking to Deva unless.....

More thoughts flew back and forth to the point where he didn't notice the white lights until the last second.
Transform:

Dragon's fire unleash from within me
And wipe away clean the crimes of the past
I am....The Dragon!

As Tony observed himself, he felt at one with the dragon that had stopped resting on his shoulder and now stood in front of him. It had grown to about knee-length in height and was as long as he was tall. His thoughts also grew clearer as he began to understand the situation, almost synching his own thoughts with those of the dragon's.

"I see..." he said. There was not much else to be said.

He felt a mid-length katana at his good side. Drawing half-way, it glowed a bright red, as though fresh from the forge. Weight wise, it was very comfortable, but it still felt unfamiliar to use. He sheathed it back again.

Poggio 12-06-2011 12:04 AM

The sounds of the cafe died behind him, and Audrey was able to catch a glimpse of flashing light. He grinned walking over to his pad and reading the message. The instant his finger stroked the screen he shed of his good boy image and he, the pad and the plates were sucked into a world of blinking numbers that mirrored neurological synapse discharges. Bit's of data surrounded him until he was in his virus guise. His feet landed softly on the checkered pattern floor. Around him his shadow flickered dancing with the candle light. Gingerly he weaved his way through the lamp post that guided the way around the base of the Castle. Audrey's eyes took in the sight of the castle. It was a giant spiral tower made of old brick. Above him an intricate gold chandelier, around it in a sporadic manner that remind him of stars, were candles. He could not see it, but it appeared as if the candles were leveled in the giant space to give even light to each of the floor and rows of doors. He noted that there were many doors, thousands upon thousands of tales and above each one hung a lantern as well.

In the warmly glowing room he finally spotted the other, or whom he thought was the other. Audrey skipped to him, reaching inside his billowy jacket to produce the two pieces of cake, and tuck his ipad away. Audrey idly waved his hand, rather then audibly voicing his opinion, where his hand traveled tiny blue lcd lights formed the words he didn't speak. “Where have you taken us?” He summoned a pair of forks from his jacket as well handing one to who he thought was the elderly hacker. Around him he had gathered a few candles to aid them with more light.

Mizeria 12-06-2011 12:10 AM

Without a word Light consumed Iris again, but nothing seemed to happen. Other then the butterfly disappearing and her clothes changing... She was just the way she was before. She was now wearing a nice silk black corset with butterflies embroidered on it with nice black pants to match. She was holding a jacket that also matched the set. Her hair was up off of her shoulders and away from her face. She didn't know if but there was a tattoo on her back.

"Why does everyone look so different?" She looked around confused. She noticed she had her butterfly knives and there were twin blades on her hips. "Why are we armed?"

Funkduder 12-06-2011 12:14 AM

"If we are to defend, then we must be able to defend ourselves," Tony said, answering Iris. He turned back to Deva, bringing up one of the few questions left unanswered: "Why? Why are we called to do this, and what says that we should or would?"

Tiva 12-06-2011 12:20 AM

Deva looked at his with a puzzled look "Because you were chosen, I do not know how but the program picked all of you for your skills that will help strengthen your guardian abilities. Please try to figure out what they are...." She grinned again shaking her head at Iris, she still hadn't looked behind her.... Looking at the light she smiled, there had been a reason after all. "Hello, I am sorry to state I do not quite know your name, would you mind to share it with me Light?"

Espy 12-06-2011 12:21 AM

Isn't that what programs like Norton and AV a--

She hadn't even finished her thought when something exploded in her head. At least, that's what it felt like. A shift in perspective: Her eyes were not at their ordinary four-foot-three height. A breeze blew across her waist and she glanced down...

...to see an all-too-familiar outfit. ...My character? But it wasn't just that: Most MMOs had outfit and weapon restrictions. What she saw sheathed at her waist included not only her in-game blade, but also a bichawa, something she'd only been able to dream of owning. She took it out gingerly and realized that the scorpion's stinger was wet.

With poison. Sky glanced at the sheathe, and, sure enough, the lower region was coated with a transparent and odorless liquid as well as some white powder. She wondered if it was TTX. She replaced the bichawa quietly.

Alpha 12-06-2011 12:22 AM

"Well, that certainly makes sense Tony. And I'd like to know that as well." Looks around room again, and jumps in surprise when he notices an extra person in the room. "Wait a minute, weren't there only six of us here before? So where did our seventh come from?"

Mizeria 12-06-2011 12:25 AM

Iris looked at Tony, "Yes, I guess that would make complete sense. Yet if we are in a computer... Why not just leave the computer and delete the virus from the outside? No fighting needed. Just a little coding and then problem solved."

"Show you with light?" Iris looked at Deva like she was some crazy lady that should be locked up in a mental home. "How would someone do that... exactly?"

Funkduder 12-06-2011 12:28 AM

It was at this point that Tony noticed the appearance of a final newcomer. She looked like nearly identical to the girl whom she had laid on the ground, except inverted in color. As the other critter who was, until recently, fighting walked up to its new partner, the event seemed all but explained. Fortunately, many of the occurrences seemed unexplained, so he was confident that the truth behind the matter would be revealed in time.

"Hello there," he said, neutrally regarding the owner of light.

At the same time, he gave thought to Iris' comment. His intuition told him that it couldn't be that simple or else it would have been solved already, but he stayed silent to let Deva fill in the specific details.

Mirror Gardens 12-06-2011 12:38 AM

The man turned to the boy with a grin. “I was in the mood for a fairytale, welcome to the Castle of Stories.” Standing before Audrey was a tall slender man with short platinum blonde hair and lavender eyes. He was wearing a highly stylized pale pink outfit with intricate silver designs that was reminiscent of a prince’s formal attire. His outfit was complete with medals of various sorts and a sword. Tasunke wasn’t really fond of swords, but it completed his outfit. Accepting the treat and fork he led the way into a corridor of doors. As he walked the pink of his outfit shimmered like an opal, changing colors in the flickering of the lights before settling back to the pale pink.
After a few minutes of walking, he finally stopped before a large oak door. The edges of the door were elegantly carved to resemble pumpkin vines that wound up the sides of the door, and along the top where the vines dipped slightly in middle. Beneath where the vines meet at the top a small gold and opal pumpkin is embedded in the wood. Turning to Audrey he smirked again while tossing the empty plate and fork aside. “Shall we pay Cindy a visit?”

Broken Muse 12-06-2011 08:15 AM

Annalisa answered Deva first, "I was originally called Annalisa before taking Theresa's name. To keep things simple you may call me Annalisa." She had noted with some distaste that she was wearing armor that was more ornate then useful in fighting. "And, Fallon, I am of and from Theresa." Annalisa's eyes twinkled with mischief, "It's a bit confusing altogether, I can assure you I have never taken a corpral form before now." The ord of Light bobbed happily beside Annalisa while the orb of nothingness rested on Theresa's stomach.

Theresa took that time to wake up, her eyes snapped open and she reguarded Annalisa hostily. "Who are you?" She asked wanting to know not only their name but how they got so close to her without Theresa knowing. Theresa then looked around and noticed that she was not the only one staring at the girl in white and gold. Then Theresa groaned, the girl was Light that must mean Theresa was Dark. She looked down at herself and almost balked. She was weaing black combat robes and she could feel the prensence of more knives then strickly nessisary.

Mizeria 12-06-2011 01:43 PM

Iris flushed deeply when she realized that a new girl had appeared. She had misunderstood again. So much was happening she was having trouble following everything at once. Her head was pounding and all she wanted was to go home. She had to get better control of herself. She was so unfocused. She quietly backed up to the nearest wall and just decided to wait for all of this to be over.

Broken Muse 12-06-2011 03:59 PM

"I am Annalisa." Annalisa whispered to Theresa. "I am your Light and sister, at least, that was the role originally assigned to me." Theresa then yanked herself from Annalisa's grasp and turned to face the one who claimed to be her sister..

"I've never seen you before." Theresa hissed though the story sounded familiar. She was well aware that she was an only child and could not have a sibling. "So stop lying."

Annalisa shrugged, uneffected by the acusation because she was sure her sister would remember in time. That was not the important thing as Annalisa saw Iris on the floor. She felt the need to assure herself that Iris was okay so she walked over. "Hey, you okay?" The other looked a little sick and weary.

Tiva 12-06-2011 09:09 PM

Deva looked at Iris shaking her head, "You can't reset this world, they would eventually come back.... much like if you were to reset your computer a virus would eventually come back in due time no how careful you were. This is a permanent solution, not a fire wall or a barrier like what you make, this is breaking it and destroying it." She lowered her eyes down for second, Veda would all ways come back but now with her pulling in those things...."In your world you call them hackers I think, they come here too.... they also corrupt this world inside and out of it. The only way to keep this world uncorrupted would be to take it from you, and then why would it exist?" Another file appeared flashing in front of her face with a bright red, opening it up she saw yet another error report. "Like cutting off Rapunzel's hair before she meets her prince... Great way to end that story huh?"

Broken Muse 12-06-2011 09:15 PM

"I never cared much for fairy tales." Theresa muttered crossly. "The "And they lived happily ever after" of modern fairy tales never quite suited me." Plus, if someone wanted ot be a 100% honest Theresa was a hacker herself. Sure, she rarely did it and only to electronic documents from the college, but she was familiar with the whole process. "Is this the original tale or the modern version?" Theresa asked knowing it would make a large difference in how one would go about fixing the supposed problem.

Alpha 12-06-2011 10:26 PM

"Well, that makes sense Deva, though honestly I've just got an itch to get out there and start fixing this." Fallon then started to pace the room, getting slightly impatient, but remembering that everyone had to be on the same page before anything could be done. The cat seemed to be getting anxious as well, but outwardly was calm and comfortable on his shoulders. It was content to observe the proceedings as they went on and to be patient enough until being able to fight.

Espy 12-06-2011 10:54 PM

Suppressing a grin, Sky crept a bit closer to the rest of the group. Oh, cheer up, she thought at the girl who apparently was Theresa. The pranks Sky loved pulling weren't exactly funny at times, but...Aaaaagh. It's be funny to have a blanket fall on her, right now. Like last time when I chucked a pillow at Len. That...was a great pillow fight.

Sky felt something immaterial drain out of her, and all of a sudden, a teddy-bear-print blanket materialized some three feet over Theresa's head.

And gravity soon took over.

"A...Apologies!" Sky muttered, a bit embarrassed. Was this some sort of new superpower or something? Seemed like a warped form of alchemy, energy transmuted into something material...or maybe it was her dream of being able to create whatever she drew, come true. ...Who knows.

"So how do you suggest we fix this?" she asked in her usual low murmur.

Broken Muse 12-07-2011 04:16 PM

Theresa heard the apology but was angry enough not to care. The blanket hampered her ability to see and muffled her hearing enough for it to more then an annoyance. With a growl she wished it gone and was surprised when it actually did disappear. Or at least it seemed to. To Theresa's amusement and annoyance the blanket had only become invisable, the object itself was still there. "Interesting," she murmered before relizing that this was a perfect way to get back at the girl, who she relized had never given her name. Quickly removing the now invisible blanket from herself Theresa gave the fox girl a grin, "With a little more control, you might actually be useful." With those words she focaused on the right arm of the fox girl and wished for it to become invisible.

Obbiesan 12-07-2011 10:02 PM

Trace looked around as a group of white bird surround him and a large gust of wind spiraled around him. As the wind died down and the birds dispersed he looked down to see his appearance chanced he has a mask over his mouth and a black leather trench coat with a fur collar with matching black pants.

I wonder why i look different Iris seemed to stay about the same. Maybe it differs from person to person based on personality.

After that thought Trace ran over to Iris to try and comfort her but also to see what the others had changed into. He noticed the others seemed to have powers and Trace was interested in what his was but he wasn't sure how to find out what his power was.

Funkduder 12-07-2011 11:12 PM

Tony, who hadn't moved so much since he transformed, heard the small girl's low murmur. "Well that's easy enough," he said. "We destroy the viruses and prevent the creators from recreating the viruses."
Almost as he said this, her right arm disappeared, exposing an open wound that didn't bleed. The bright red flesh stood open. Muscles, wet with plasma and blood could be seen, but the surrounding clothes remained untouched, light even shown on some of her side. Seeing Theresa react with amusement rather than surprise allowed the assumption that light could be reflected (or not reflected) on whatever she choose.
"With all of us working together, Ms. Theresa," Tony directed at the darker of the twins. His annoyance was clearly evident in the fire that ran up his clothes without affecting him. His clothes seemed to burned, but didn't char nor disintegrate, letting off a heat to those around him instead. Tony widened his eyes quickly as he felt some energy leave and quickly willed the flames to die down.

Espy 12-08-2011 12:21 AM

Sky gave a startled yelp, but the pain expected never came. Taking a peek at Theresa, she realized that it was a trick.

....and a damn good one, too, she thought, heart still racing a bit. With sudden realization, she figured if there wasn't any major drawback, this girl could turn anyone invisible. Perfect plan of attack.

Except...it couldn't possibly be that easy, right? And had that dragon person just accidentally set himself on fire? This was turning out to be a very interesting...group, if you could even call it that.

She ran a hand through her hair, an unconscious motion, and hit something. Something with nerve endings. Sky blinked a few times, then quickly unsheathed her blade and glanced at the reflection. Pitch black hair. No, pitch black bangs. And sidebangs. The back of her hair, down to a long sleek ponytail, was completely silver. And the ears. No wonder sounds were so much clearer now.

Red pointed ears sat snugly in her messy shag, and half covered by the long bangs were red eyes. Ruby red. What had seemed a good idea on paper had now turned a bit scary in real life, albeit also a bit fantastic.

...Wait. On paper? In real life? It slowly dawned on Sky that at some point, she had drawn all of this before. The outfit was modified from the game; she hadn't liked the way it looked originally and had drawn in her own accessories. The red eyes and silver earrings were a trademark in her character designs. The white hair was what she had wanted when she first dyed her hair, before it faded back to a light brown.

It seemed like her abilities had been...augmented.

Poggio 12-08-2011 01:01 AM

He nodded circling his finger in the air the lock to the door twisted. The door creaked giving way to a white light and the world inside. They were greeted by loud orchestral music. Below them was a room full of swirling multicultural, multicolored dancers. On the opposite wall there was another grand stair case, where she entered. Unlike the dancers she was the only one dressed in gold and elaborately done so. Audrey gestured to the Prince at his Cinder girl. He himself seamlessly disappeared into the shadows reemerging near the make believe food.

Mirror Gardens 12-08-2011 07:57 PM

The kit definately stood out. His dark clothing and mask made him stand out among the colorful dancers. Fortunately his accomplice was quite adept at disappearing, quickly vanishing into the shadows. Stepping into the room, Tasunke blended in magnificently. His colorful appearance and charming smile quickly won over the fairy tale characters. Stepping onto the dance floor he stopped a young woman mid twirl by grabbing hold of her small delicate hand. With a smile and a small bow, he kissed the girl’s hand making her flush before giggling and nodded her head. Pulling the girl in close they gracefully spun into the crowds of dancers.
As they danced he spotted Audrey by the food and smiled. The boy’s physique was quite deceiving. Despite being able to pack away food like it was nothing, he still managed to remain in shape. He would have continued to ponder the secret to the other’s miraculous metabolism had a sparkle of gold had not caught drawn his eye. There she was, happily dancing with the prince. Looking back towards the food table, he gave the other a knowing smirk before twirling his dance partner away and vanishing among the vibrant skirts of the other dancers.

Broken Muse 12-09-2011 08:22 PM

Theresa pouted when not many people reacted to her trick. The fox girl seemed to have figured it out though, and Theresa though it fair to let them know she had no idea how to fix it. "And of course, Foxy, I can't fix it." She had tried on the blanket to make it reapear and it had not worked so she assumed she mearly had the power to make things invisble. Pretty wierd it seemed to have control of only what appeared ot be half the ability.

Poggio 12-12-2011 02:21 PM

The grin was contagious. Audrey himself cracked his knuckles and touched the food. It started to fade from its bright colors to something more muted. He wondered briefly if he could control the bits of data that were the fairy tale characters. It took some concentration from the novice hacker but he was able to do it. A pair of idle dancers burst into data bits that went unnoticed by the others. It was then that Audrey floated over to the throne where the Queen and King sat. He touched them as he touched the food. The guise of a good queen and king broke away and the Queen was now clothed in black, red and white dotted with a heart pattern. Her hair fell in dark curls around her shoulders and her scepter pointed at the golden clad girl. “OFF WITH HER HEAD”

Mirror Gardens 12-12-2011 11:11 PM

Tasunke chuckled delightedly as he heard the new queen’s declaration. It seemed Audrey was getting into the spirit of things now. Quickly locating the golden clad princess, he dashed under her skirt, causing her to scream not only from the queen’s command but from his sudden intrusion. Just as the guards arrived to apprehend the girl, he pulled the shoes from her tiny feet and rolled out from under her skirt just as she was being dragged away. Navigating through the colorful ocean he popped up beside the kit grinning as he watched chaos erupt from the boy’s changes to the program. Holding up the delicate glass slippers, he looked at his partner in crime with a large grin. “Care for a pair of breakable shoes?”

Alpha 12-12-2011 11:52 PM

Fallon chuckled a bit, amused at the whole situation. It seemed everyone so far had a power. Theresa, at he least he thought that was the darker one's name, seemed to be able to make things disappear, Sky could make things appear out of seemingly thin air, and Tony could control fire. Hmmmm, he wondered, I've noticed there are bits of water seeming to follow my hands. Does this mean I have a similar control over it? And if so, does that mean I can control it in all its forms? He focused on Theresa, figuring if anyone need to "chill out" it would be her. All of a sudden ice began to form around her feet and surged upwards encasing her. "Damn....I didn't think I could actually do that...." he said out loud, "maybe I should figure out how to thaw her...."
