Well, the whole point of this game is to get as overpowered as possible, but usually the story is at least somewhat challenging. :p

Without doing a bit of side leveling I usually have at least a little trouble in the main game. But I'm sure the postgame will have a challenge in store, it almost always does :)

I love this game (probably my favorite out of all the Disgaea games released so far).
Story-wise, I put it on par with 2, but character-wise, it's my favorite.

Suzerain of Sheol 01-09-2012 11:32 PM

I'm actually finding the postgame pathetically easy, *but* ... I'm using the dupe glitch, so I have my whole team equipped wiht emblems that boost their stats over a million at the moment. The fights *are* getting harder, but all that means is I go make a stronger emblem to duplicate...

I don't feel like grinding away hundreds of hours doing it legitimately, have a bunch of other games to get to, and... there's still legal duping in the game with the Puppy Paw Stick, the shop glitch just takes out the middle-man of dozens upon dozens of hours and relying on the game's RNG.

Serra Britt 01-09-2012 11:37 PM

They still have that Puppy Paw Stick huh? I can't say it's terrible but it is a bit easy to...abuse :p

Suzerain of Sheol 01-09-2012 11:41 PM

This shop glitch is 1,000 times easier to abuse. But, I don't feel bad as I really just don't have the time to do it correctly right now, and I want to see all of the postgame.

Puppy paw stick? Dare I ask?

Suzerain of Sheol 01-10-2012 04:13 PM

It's an axe that looks like a giant stuffed paw. When you kill an enemy with it, there's a 10% chance that you steal a duplicate of one of their equips.

Then, there's Character World, which lets you go inside your party members' souls to power them up in various ways. While in there, you can run into clones of your characters... exact clones, down to their equipment.

So, if you just equip your guy with that perfected level 300 Testament with 8 300-level Statisticians in it... and you kill the clone with the Puppy Paw Stick... you get the idea.

It's very tedious, very luck based, and the shop glitch is much, much more abusable.

Serra Britt 01-14-2012 11:05 PM

Did they change the way statisticians work? It used to be 300 (a total of 4x exp) was the cap for a character no matter how many they had equipped.

Suzerain of Sheol 01-14-2012 11:39 PM

Yeah, there's no cap now besides how many you can fit on your equips, so it goes all the way up to 9600% (8 on each piece of armor). Makes leveling to the max pretty easy.

Serra Britt 01-14-2012 11:54 PM

I never had a problem getting to level 9999, it was having good enough gear to solo the item world in the land of carnage...

Suzerain of Sheol 01-15-2012 02:43 PM

I've honestly given up on D4 for now. I got to Zetta, who I think is the last postgame boss at level 4000. All his stats are around 1,000,000. My guys have like... 150K attack and 1,000,000 defense, so I could probably beat him with just a little bit of effort, but it just doesn't seem worth it. Opening the the Land of Carnage is such a pain. I have other games I want to play.
