Donnie got up off the bed momentarily. "I'm going to get you some water," He said not sure what to do for her. He would also get the rag so when she was done she could wipe her tears away, if she wanted.
Donnie didn't want Amelia feeling so down. He knew he could break her concentration but decided against that road to go down right now. He sat back down on the bed after getting both things. He put the water next to the bed on the floor on her side so she could get it whenever. He also showed her the rag and set it there to. Donnie then got the jacket on her right again and let his arm fall around her small, sad body. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia watched as he left once more to get water. It was starting to get harder to breath. No matter how many times she would inhale or exhale it just felt like it wasn't enough. Donnie fixed the Jacket right to go over her chest and rested one of his arms across her. Her breathing slowed and became normal again. The tears stopped as well. From what happened that day she was tired and about ready to pass out. She turned on her one side to get more comfortable and cuddled up next to Donnie. She felt safe and she felt like she was were she needed to be. She nuzzled her head into his chest, relaxing, forgetting everything that had crossed her mind earlier and started to fall asleep. |
Donnie noticed a dramatic difference in her rhythmic breathing as she fell asleep. She seemed like she would be fine and the concussion wasn't anything big to worry about or he wouldn't have allowed her to sleep. He moved her hair slightly out from in her face before moving himself away from her. Donnie wasn't quite ready to sleep just yet. The conversations he heard earlier still stung his mind.
Donnie made sure he didn't wake her. He then... kissed her forehead before heading out. He wasn't sure what had compelled him to do so, but it's not like she would ever know or remember. Donnie recalled his mother doing it for him when he was sick as a child. Once downstairs the bartender raised his eyes to Donnie's. Surprisingly a lot of people had filed out of the place and it was getting more and more empty. Apparently they didn't want to be in the drama that went down, or needed to get back to their families or wives. Sitting at the bar, Donnie acknowledged the issue. "Sorry about... that," "Eh, not much a problem, Chap. I've seen much worse in my time around here. I just don't like women beaters is all. It's a bloody shame men actually lower themselves to that level," the bartender said. "You need something?" Donnie shrugged and sighed before answering. "A place to stay, and information if you can give it," He watched the man's reaction as he told the semi-truth and the guy cleaned a few glasses. He really hoped this worked out for him and Amelia. Donnie needed to keep her safe and this place wasn't bad. "Fin," The man said. Donnie questioned the man on what he meant as a few more people left and one came in. "That's my name. You need my name if either of you plan to do work around this place to earn your stay. As for information, what do you need?" Donnie smiled and thanked the ma- Fin, and began getting the information he needed. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia started to wake up when Donnie was moving away from her, but she kept everything under control. She wanted to grab on to him and not let him go but she was not about ready to make him stay because of her. She didn't ever want him to worry in the first place. She acted like she was still asleep and moved a bit making herself comfortable, when it happened. He kissed her forehead. Her cheeks get a bit redder, and she was able to hid the grin that wanted to show so badly. Once Donnie left the room she was able to fall back in the sleep she once was in. Slowly drifting into the dream world. |
Donnie stayed down in the pub area for a good hour or so longer, discussing things with Fin. Apparently Fin had been married once before, but his wife had died and they never had any children because she couldn't have them. The distant look on his face as he explained it was saddening, but he didn't want any pity. After her death, he needed something to keep him going, so he bought this building and created it into a pub and inn. It was something his wife would have liked to do, given more time with the living.
Donnie learned a lot about Fin, but also about the mysterious red headed beauty. Nobody knew her name or where she came from. All anyone knew was that she popped up about a month before they did and also had on some really funny clothing and spoke with an off accent, much like theirs. She got in with a group of alchemists, which in the case now were somewhat like outlaws. They believed differently and done... magical type things in the night, or so people thought and said. They were finally apprehended and thrown in the brig, to be tried later that week. After learning all he needed to and agreeing for them to work to stay, Donnie headed back up to the room and layed in bed after taking off his shirt and shoes. He wasn't going to take off his pants, even if they did get a little wrinkled. He wouldn't want Amelia waking up and thinking thoughts about what might have happened, assuming she couldn't remember. He dozed off fairly quickly. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia woke only a little when Donnie came back up, to fall asleep. She got to see him take off his shirt. She blushed then dozed off again. A loud bang on the door woke up Amelia. Her head still hurt, but some of it dulled down and the little bit of light that shown through the windows, burned her eyes. She sat rolled over to see if Donnie was there, and he was. She started to shake him to make sure he was awake when she realized she didn't have a shirt on. She immidently stopped shaking him. It was the first time she wanted to wear that cursed corset. Other bang on the door followed by Fin's voice. "I am coming in in a minute, if some one does not answer the door!" Amelia's attention went to the door at this moment. "Just a minute, then!" Fussed around trying to find her bag, it had her normal clothes in it. It took some time but she finally found it and put on her dress. She opened the Door only to find the bartender there. "Yes?" She put on a big smile, welcoming him in the morning. "Did he not say a word to you? You have work to do!" He handed her, her new outfit. "You will be my new maid. You will clean all of the rooms and anything else that may need it, like these halls.." He smiled. "Well the cleaning supplies are in the closet down the hall. Once he wakes up tell him he needs to wear this and get that job done." Amelia nodded. Fin closed the door after those words, so she could get dressed in her new outfit. She put Donnie's clothes on the bed next to him. She grabbed her normal underwear and went behind the screen. She started to undress so she could wear her new outfit. AS she started to get undressed and redressed her mind wondered through what had happened last night. She remembered up to the part she was about getting rape. She shuddered. She was happy Donnie was there to save her, though she was a bit sad to not remember how her clothes got off. She did remember Donnie coming back and taking off her shirt, so she knew that at least it wasn't that they had sex, not like she won't mind having sex with Donnie she would at least like to remember it. The outfit when finally got it on was a simple outfit that was much easier to get on then the other one. The only thing that tighten was the small corset that went on the outside of everything. She was happy it wasn't complicated like her other outfit. She walked out from behind the screen to show Donnie. "So? How do i look?". She smiled hoping that he didn't remember last night either. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_1X4TwXLNtZ...e8f3123a_b.jpg |
Donnie groaned a little bit as he stretched and got up. Luckily his head didn't hurt but alcohol didn't effect him like he knew it did Amelia. He wasn't going to tell her that he remembered everything that had happened. He thought she probably wouldn't want to talk about it for a while.
As Amelia spoke up his attention turned to her. "Lovely as always," He said and smiled. Was he flirting, at a time like this, in a PLACE like this. Oh yeah, now this was something every female wanted. Donne actually chuckled at himself as he tossed his feet over the bed. Donnie then went about getting his own clothes on, and his other pants off. The outfit was a bit big for him which led on to that it might have been Fin's a while back. After dressing, not really being shy that Amelia was in the same room, he turned to her. "I have information on a particular red head," He said happily. "I'll tell you more about it after we get our jobs done. We have to make this work so we have a place to live and all that," Donnie then layed his other clothes on the bed and headed downstairs to work at the bar. This, but more drab xD Aaand suspenders, no jacket. |
Amelia Marie Diederich When Amelia heard his words it caught her off guard, he never said anything like that before. She was speechless until he started to laugh at himself. Her face started to redden as she realized that it was stupid of her to think that he would actually like her. She saw that he started to take off his pants and she quickly turned around. She didn't want see anything she wasn't ready for. She perked to his information on a red head. "Did you find her where abouts, yet?" he answered her question with pretty much with a later. "Okay, but you better tell me, alright?" She gave him a smile. Living with him didn't seem like such a bad idea in her mind. Just no more drinking. "Let's get this done with for today. I'm not looking forward to cleaning those sheets." She gave him smile, and followed him out the door. She locked the room and kept the key. "Let me know when you are finished ok. I'll be in one of these rooms up here." She went to the closet and grabbed a bucket, broom, and a scrub brush. "Let's get this over with." She said in a small soft voice. She went to the first room, which was number one. She knocked. "Room service!" No one answered. She tried to open the door and it worked. It was unlocked. She took a look around the room, which was empty, to see what had to be done. It was a one bed room, just like the one they were staying in, but much dirty. "I guess i should get started." She sighed, going into the bathroom, which was even worst then the room with the bed in it. She filled the bucket up with water adding a touch of soap from the soap bar in the room. She started with the bathroom and worked her way to out to the bed room. The bathroom sparkled and with that she emptied the dirty water down the drain. At least they had some sort of plumbing. She left the bucket empty so she could put the trash into it. Once all the bottles and other things were picked up, she swept up the room. Next was the sheets. Pulling everything off carefully so she didn't get anything on her. The room was finished. She went out to the hall, seeing how many more rooms she had to clean. To her luck there was only six and number four was their room, which she knew didn't need to be cleaned. She started on the next few rooms which were all empty, gathering all the sheets together. She soon knew she would have to clean them manually. She sighed once more but kept doing her job, until she got to the last two rooms, which is when her stomach started to bother her. She had no dinner last night and now no breakfast. She put on new sheets in the three rooms and went down stairs to maybe get some type of food. She brushed off the sweat on her forehead. "Do we have anything to eat I am starving!" She sat down in front of the bar and stared up at Donnie. He looked nice in his work outfit. |
By the time he was half way done with his shift at the bar, Donnie already had his sleeves rolled up and was quite tired. It was much harder work than someone would think and people could be picky. Luckily no fights really broke out during the first part of the day and that is why Fin gave Donnie that job and not later.
"Yeah, if you head right back there..," Donnie commented as he pointed to a door that led to a small back room that had supplies and food. "Before he left to go to the store or wherever he went, Fin said we can eat 3 normal meals a day and that's it. We have to continue our work," Donnie cleaned a glass and put it back on the shelve then took somebodies money as they paid then left. "Hey, Fin should be back soon and then we can go find out more about the professor," He commented to Amelia. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia nodded her head. She didn't much want to get up, but it looked as if he was busy. He just didn't have time for her. She rummaged through the pantry and found some corn bread. It was the quickest and easiest thing to make. She stepped behind the counter and grabbed a knife, cutting a piece for herself and a piece for Donnie. "You want one?" She looked over to him and smiled. Even if he said no she would insist. She wasn't going to have him no eat just because he needed to work. She would feed him personally if need be. She sat down and enjoyed her meal, knowing that she wouldn't get much rest after this. She did have two more rooms to do with sheets to wash. And some of those sheets looked really nasty. The corn bread was one of the best she has ever had. She even ate every last crumb. She smiled at Donnie, watching him work made her happy. She had to stop though or they were never going to finish up their jobs. She wiped the crumbs into her hand and threw them away, heading back up stairs to clean up the rooms. Room number 5 had a customer in it and they didn't want her to disturbed them, so she skipped and went to the next room. The next room was some one's as well, but they were not in at the moment. She took the master key and unlocked the room. It was surprisingly neat compared to the other rooms, that looked like they were just used for sex. It was very quick for her to finish. She just really need to grab the sheets and scrub the floors/ sweep. Once done with that room she tried room number five once more, but they still didn't want her to come. She didn't know what to do so she just left them alone and ask about it later. Now came the washing of the sheets, though she had no clue as to how to wash them. |
Donnie liked that Amelia cared about him eating and he gratefully took the bread. He didn't start to eat it until he was done washing the other glasses and everyone at the pub was seated and happy. He was very happy that he didn't have the night job, but he assumed it would get easier after he got use to the work. That thought had him thinking about how long they would have to be there.
Donnie didn't know. It was a few hours later when he was finally done and switched the job back off to Fin. Fin was satisfied with their work since it was their first day and they didn't seem to be use to that kind of work. Donnie then headed upstairs, hoping that Amelia was up there and to change out of his clothes. They would have to find a way to wash their clothes every few days or so. Once in there he began to change. ~~~ Jennie sat tiredly in the wrought iron cell, a few other people in there with her and others in other cells. She wasn't sure where they were, but it was probably the prison in the same town that they had been busted in. Shit she needed a ciggerette. It was about a month ago when Jennie had landed in this place. It was very Victorian and not high on technology which didn't help her one bit. What was she thinking when she jumped in? Yeah it was an awesome idea, and what better way to learn about it then BE in it, but how was she suppose to get back? The thing was, she had been hoping to send up in a very technological place that could help her hone her abilities and sciences. Instead, she ended up here. So, like a smart scientist she was, Jennie went to her best bet in finding a way out-- the Alchemists. She had read about similar people in their own history, and they seemed like her best bet. Truth was, she had learned a lot so far. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia found Donnie walking up the stairs, just has she was about to just grab a bucket and fill it with soapy water to clean the sheets. "Are you done for the day?" She got the bucket and then saw one of those old washing boards. She figured this is what she needed to use to wash the five sheets she had. Once she gathered everything out back, she put all of the the sheets in at once, so they could soak a bit. She figured they would need it to get the stains out. She took a deep breath for her work was mostly done for the day. She walked in and told Fin that the sheets were soaking out back and she would get them once they were back. She went up to their room and found Donnie already to go. It was her turn to get dressed. She went behind the screen and started to take everything off. She quickly put on the layers of clothing until she got to the corset. She was able to get it up and over her chest before asking Donnie to just tighten as tight as he could. Once the rest of her clothes were on she hung her work clothes over the screen and was ready for the day, to start looking for the professor. |
Donnie helped her put her corset back on, and tried to ignore the flashes of memory that came into his mind about the night before like taking it off and her... breasts. Geesh he was trying not to be a perv, but apparently couldn't help it. He couldn't believe she could deal with how tight it was.
Donnie's hands lingered on Amelia longer than was probably necessary before he let them drop and he scratched his head. "I ah... I think she's probably going to be in one of the prisons, or jails around here. I'm not sure if she is still in this town but it would be in our interest to ask at the near by cell holdings. With working and all that, we don't have near as much time to search so it might take a day or two to find her. On the not bright side, I have no idea how we plan to get her out, even if we do find her," Donne commented. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia didn't much notice Donnie's lingering hands, she was much more nervous about him seeing her naked. She was already once the constricting corset was on and her dress pulled up. "Well maybe there will be some type of bail? Who knows, until we go right?" She gave him a weary smile and then grabbed her bag. She knew it looked weird, but she never knew when she was going to need any of the stuff inside. That and she didn't want anyone to go through it and find her technology that doesn't seem to exist here. She headed down the stairs, to the pub, and asked Fin where the nearest jail/prison was. He gave her directions and she was off. She couldn't wait to find the professor. Maybe she came up with something already, since the real world and the portal don't seem to keep track of time very well and she had a month to do something about it. She also wanted to find the professor for some normalcy. Maybe having the three of them together they could act normal. It took awhile to walk to the jail, but they had finally made it. Amelia looked to Donnie to do all of the talking to the guards, for Amelia was shy and not good with on the minute lies. |
Donnie made a crack lie about having to go in and see if his derelict of an uncle was in there. He was always going out to pubs at night and not coming home for days but this time he was gone much longer and he was scared for his safety and thought his uncle might be inside since that is where he was a few times before. At first the guards were hesitant but finally let them through after being bribed with a bit of their money. Luckily they were working, but they weren't working for money. He would have to steal some more, more than likely.
Once they were in, Donnie kept his eyes peeled for a red head. The place was surprising much larger then it looked on the outside. |
Amelia Marie Diederich The place smelt of rot and decay as most where put in there for a while with no care from the guards of how they looked or if it was clean. Amelia tried not to take deep breathes and made sure to breathe through her mouth, for it was really that horrible. She looked from cell to cell waiting for some clue, but she wasn't seeing anything at all, no professor or no one that looked like an alchemist, at least not to her. She decided to bring it up with guard, it felt risky to her, but she was unsure of how else to go about it. "Soo I was curious about these so called alchemists that I heard about in a pub. Would you happen to know anything about their where abouts?" The guard looked at her weird for her way of using words, but ignored them and answered her question. "They are being held here, in the more tougher cells. They seem to be crafty. It wouldn't be the first time they would be able to escape a prison like this. Hence why we gave them harder cells to escape." Amelia let out a breathe she didn't know she was holding in when the guard told them more information. She was relived that guard didn't think anything weird about her question. But she couldn't help but to ask more about them they seemed so close but so far away all at the same time. "Why were they put away exactly?" The guard stared at her for a moment before speaking once more to her. "Murder." He said it with such an emotionless face it scared her to think that her teacher would kill some one. "Oh that is just terrible to think about." Amelia bit her lip and looked away, not wanting to revile anything to the guard. Keeping her eyes on the floor, she just had to ask. "Could we possible see these horrible people before we find our uncle? I would like to know who could commit such an act." The guard thought long and hard about it, but decided that he had nothing to lose, they were going to die soon anyways. "What would be the harm in it? I would like to rough them up, as well." The guard grew an eerie smile, but did as he said. Amelia and Donnie were brought to see their professor, along with the others. She just hoped her professor wasn't the one who killed the man. |
Donnie was surprised about how well Amelia was taking things and going in stride with what was going on. She never seemed like the person before that would lie and make up stories. But really, she wasn't that bad at it and since she was a pretty girl she was even more apt to not get assumed to be lieing. It was actually a good plan.
Donnie smiled slightly. "Yeah I bet a lot of people would want to rough up some murderers like that," he said trying to stay on the side of the guard. It was better to act in cahoots. He wrinkled his nose slightly as the guard took them even further into the prison. The smell was getting worse and worse. Donnie glanced over at Amelia to see how she was doing. This was it. Hopefully the Professor was here. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia's nerves were on end as they seemed to get deeper into the prison. The worst people went to this end and the guard didn't even have to tell her that, she could feel it. She kept her head down, staring at the floor, watching her every step, just like the prisoners were doing. In the main parts there was wooting and cheering, but as they ascended into the depths it got eerily quiet. She started to wondered just how far down she was. The guard started to bang his baton against the cells, making the sound echo off the walls, only making Amelia more scared. He stopped once they reached them. The cell was dark and very hard to see in. They only saw silhouettes of what should be people. The guard lit up a lantern, which burned Amelia's eyes. It took a moment for her eyes to adjust, but soon the silhouettes started to turn into weary faces. They all seemed drained and they all had this look of defeat stitched into their faces. I changed Amelia's mood, just by the sad looks on their faces. She could no longer look at them as killers, but helpless people that were only trying to do what they thought was right. Amelia looked at Donnie to see if he had changed as well, but she was unsure of how he felt. His emotions were not written on his face as well as these humans' were. She strained her eyes more to see if she spotted her professor, but she just couldn't do it. How many were here that she couldn't easily see her. "Kellen?" Amelia spoke under her breathe, barely even hearing herself, but she had to speak louder, she had to get her teacher's attention. They needed to know if she was there. "Professfor Kellen!" Her words echoed through out the moist walls, ringing through out her head. What did she just do? |
The energy further down the prison was almost stifling. It just felt... bad. It was something that could put a stone feeling in your gut for weeks. It was such a bad place to be and he had a huge feeling half of the people there didn't deserve the harsh, nasty treatment.
Donnie looked into the darkness of the cell in front of them, but couldn't see much. Then he heard Amelia speak. Then he heard her yell. It was like a flash bang of surprise. By the look on her face, she surprised herself. She surprised him. And not only that, but then the guard knew that they knew someone there and that was a big problem. It was a quick reaction of Donnie's, to elbow the guard in the face. He was slightly taller and bigger than him, but he would be slow and he was far from athletic. If anything, he needed to work out and run some. Everything was happening so fast and so unexpectedly. He then grabbed the baton and knocked out the guard. "We need to hurry. Now," |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia watched Donnie save her yet again in this place. "But... but what about the professor?" Amelia looked down at the guard that was passed out and then looked back into the cell, only hoping that her professor would appear from the darkness. She had to grab the keys, at least. They had to have some way of getting back in. She knelt down and grabbed the guard's keys and looked up at Donnie. |
Donnie heard some shuffling far away. He was sure it had to be the other guards or police coming to check the ruckus that they had probably heard. It's not like they had been quiet.
Donnie looked around. He was sure they didn't have much time but he also doubted that the people in this cell were bad. The professor might be back in there some where. Tossing the keys in the cell, he spoke. "The hotel in the downtown, not too far from here is where we are staying. It's one of the only rooming pubs around here. Meet us there if you are in there," Donnie demanded. His main priority was keeping them safe, though, and that required them to get out then and hope Kellen was there and would find them soon enough. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia heard them coming too, and grabbed Donnie's hand. Her checks became rosey, but she knew not to worry about that now, they had to leave. She tugged on his hand in the direction of the guards. They just had to distract them long enough to get out. Donnie naturally pulled ahead of her, leading the way through the rotting prisoners. Her mind was racing around with ideas and plans. She saw the guards darting towards them, when it hit her. She starts to scream, and slow down just a bit. "One of the prisoners knocked out the guard! We just ran as fast as we could!" She knew it would only get them off their backs long enough to get back safely to the pub. She only hoped that they wouldn't come looking for them later. Or if the alchemists would rat them out. It only took them a few moments to get back to the pub, but when they got there, Amelia could barely breathe. She felt she wasn't getting enough oxygen, taking bigger and bigger breathes until she felt safe to move again. She looked up and found that they were still in the middle of the pub and people were staring, it was almost becoming a familiar feeling to her. Once she was ready, she went to the up stairs to their room and lied down. "Do you think she will show tonight?" |
Getting out wasn't too hard for them. The guards were easy to fool right off the bat to where they would have enough time to get away.
Donnie shrugged. "Honestly I don't know. My hopes are high, but they also have to break out of the prison and we don't know if she was in there.," He said running his hand through his bangs. It sucked that they didn't have any clue. All it was, was guesses and hoping. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia's body ached from almost every where and the corset wasn't helping. She thought about asking Donnie to untie her, but decided not to. She knew it would only be embarrassing. She also needed to get use to it. It seemed their only lead was a big empty hole, and she didn't know what came next. Taking a deep breath from her chest and not her stomach she thought about what to do next. There wasn't much to do here except work or drink. |
Donnie led Amelia upstairs, away from the people that were drinking their lives away or escaping to their own worlds. It would be bad for business for them to interupt them or startle some into leaving. They would not want to run customers away from the place they were working at and sleeping as well. They for sure didn't need anymore problems.
Sighing as he closed the door, Donnie looked over at Amelia. "I'm sure we can use some baths and some food and things before we go to bed or anything like that. The evening is still young for the most part. I'm sure we don't have to work until the morning again.," He sat on the bed and groaned. He wasn't use to getting into fights anymore so him fighting actually ached parts of his body. "All we can do is hope Kellen comes and keep on with our business until we know for sure," He said. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia sighed. "Yea, I guess, but can we at least do something in the meantime. I just don't feel so good. home sick, maybe?" She gave a weak smile up to Donnie. "And this dress is killing me. Maybe we could eat dinner up here so i can wear my old clothes? you too. Don't you think that would be nice?" She sat up on the bed. Her stomach started to hurt for food and she was bored making it hard to keep her mind off of it. She stood up. "Let's go get some food okay? And find something to do up here." She grabbed Donnie's warm hand and pulled him to his feet, forcing him to follow her down to the bar. When they got down there she asked Fin if Donnie and her could have some dinner. He pointed to the cabinet. She made her way to the cabinet to grab whatever seemed good enough to eat for dinner. "Hey Fin, what do you do around here for entertainment?" Fin put a deck of cards on the bar counter. "Poker." He smiled. Amelia smiled and grabbed the cards as well. "Could we maybe have some alcohol to go along with this game?" She gave a big smile hoping it would work. Fin couldn't say no, but he wasn't stupid about it. He gave them a bottle that was only one fourth of the way full. "Have fun you too." He winked, letting them know it was their time to go up to their room so Fin could go back to work. Once up stairs, Amelia asked Donnie to help her undress. She was a bit embarrassed, but starting to get use to the fact that he was going to see her undress a lot. She quickly got into her old clothes and felt relief. She plopped down on the bed and grabbed a piece of bread, stuffing her face with it. "So what do you want to play first?" |
Donnie could understand where Amelia was coming from. With all of this going on, it was hard not to miss home. Here they had no real home, and were getting into plenty of messes. She was right, they needed a little bit to lighten up their time there since they couldn't do much else.
Donnie followed suit as she led the way and changed easily once they were back upstairs. He could tell there was less tension about changing then there was previous time. It was something of a relief that the awekwardness of changing wouldn't be adding on to the rest of their odd time and place. Grabbing a bite to eat as well, he shrugged. "You might not believe it, but I've only played cards a few times." Donnie said taking a bite and the chuckling. He didn't know many card games. She would probably end up having to teach him. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia smiled. "How can you not know any card games? What did you do for fun when you were little?" She paused to let him respond and for her to get a nice size piece of cheese on the rest of her bread. "Do you at least know how to play go fish?" She gave him a smirk and started to deal out the cards. Once the each had seven cards, she spread the rest of the deck across the bed. She looked down at her hand, two of hearts, seven of spades, queen of hearts, seven of diamonds, eight of clubs, four of hearts, and a Jack of spades. She started off with setting down the two sevens. "So do you have any twos?" She looked back down to her hand, almost all hearts. It made her mind linger on the thought of who she liked, and of course Donnie was the first to pop in her head. She blushed, not hearing what Donnie's answer was. She looked up to him and saw his beautiful blue grey eyes. They almost made her drool until she remember he was right in front of her. Her face reddened more as she bowed her head, asking what he said. |
Luckily, Donnie did know how to play Go Fish. It was silly, but at least he knew that one and wouldn't have to look even more wierd in front of Amelia. "I have 1," he said, but then she didn't say anything back at first.
Donnie wasn't sure what was going on, but she seemed interested in him. Did he have something on his face? Then he noticed a light blush come on to her face. It was one of the moments that he wished that he could hear what she was thinking, or know what she was thinking about. Sometimes girls could be hard to read. Then again, that was how life always was and always would be. "I have 1?" He repeated when she asked. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia heard the question in his voice and knew he was wondering what was going on. She took the two and laid her two of hearts with it on the bed. She looked at the cards almost jealous. Her two of hearts lying in bed with his two of spades. It was weird of her thinking about cards as beings, but she couldn't help but to think about it. "Do you have any queens?" She was willing to get rid of her heart cards from her hand as soon as possible. She brought her head up to face Donnie, though she could still feel the warmth in her face from blushing. |
Donnie smiled. "No, go fish." He said triumphantly, chuckling at himself. He then looked through his own hand. "Do you have any 7's?" He asked.
Quickly he asked something else though. "Are you okay?" He asked. Donnie was just the type of person to worry about her. They had come so far together in what little time they had actually be around each other or even knew each other and under odd circumstances like failing a class. He knew they were at least friends at this moment. Somehow he knew that it wasn't that she was sick or hurting in any way. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia reached for her cards and thought of his questions. She spoke softly; "Go fish..." Her new card was an ace of hearts, one of the loner cards. She tucked it behind her Jack of spades and thought of his other question. She didn't know if she was okay. She didn't feel unhappy or happy, nor did she feel mad or anything else. "I just wish everything would go back to the way it was. That's all." Her heart sank, feeling heavier then ever was. Even though she had been depressed before and she had been ignored before this was completely different something she never felt before. She took a deep breathe and spoke once more; "Do you have any fours?" |
"Yes," Donnie said as he handed over a four. Before dwelling on her words, he silently realized why he didn't play many card games. He ultimatly just seemed to suck at them all. He then looked up at her as he handed her the card.
"I know how you feel. This is all.... too much. It's like a movie. Not even a very good one, at that. It's one of those things that should have happened to someone else and we should have read on the news. But it's.... not." Donnie commented. It was the best way he could think to describe what was going on with them. It all just seemed so impossible. No matter where they were or what time, though, he didn't want to see Amelia unhappy or down. So he said the first that that came to his mind after. "But even if we are in some crappy movie-like existence, I honestly don't think I would have chose someone else to venture it with," He said cheesily. Sure Donnie didn't have many friends to begin with because he stayed a lot to himself, but if it made her feel better, it was worth stating. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia put the fours together putting them next to her twos and sevens. She only had four cards left, two of them hearts. Amelia listened to his words, He got most of her troubles, but she still felt something more. She wanted how she felt about him back to the way it was. All these weird feelings, she just wanted them to go away. He didn't help them when he said the second part. She could feel the color rushing back to her checks. She didn't know what to think of it and what to say. So she said what came to mind in a small low voice; "I wouldn't of chosen differently either." A smile cross her face. "I didn't think some one could be bad at go fish, but you managed to do it. Do you have any Aces?" |
Donnie scatched his head. Yeah who would have thought that someone could be so bad at cards? He suppose everyone had their weak points though. "I know right. Ugh. Yeah I do. You probably have my other card too," He said laughing. Playing cards was a nice change of pace, but the pressure they were under was still their, hanging in the air.
"Well do you need anything? Like water or something?" Donnie asked, still not sure what was wrong with her. Maybe it was because he was a guy and it was almost nature for guys and girls to simply not understand each other. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia took the Ace from him, tempted to just look at his cards, but she decided against it. "No I don't need anything. Do you have a queen? You didn't before." She flashed a small smile at him, it went away when she heard a knock on the door. Her eyes glued to the door, it almost felt like she hearing things. While waiting for the knock again, she wondered what they should do about their clothing, if she wasn't hearing things, but the knock just happened again. It sounded frantic, like an emergency of some sort, but i feel like Fin would have just given us a head ups before rushing in if it was. Amelia's heart started to pound, she started to feel afraid. She took her eyes off of the door and looked at Donnie. She took a deep breathe and started to walk towards the door. She slowly opened the door, preparing herself for what ever was behind it, but before she could fully open the door the man that was behind it rushed in, almost knocking Amelia to the ground. After the man slammed the door shut, Amelia got a better look at him. He was short and skinny, wearing ratty clothing. The man also seemed out of breath and nervous. It took a bit of time before he started to pace about the room trying to tell us what he was suppose to. "Yo..you see I..I am here to tell yo..you that you nee..need to meet up with th..the professor." He paused for a bit, still pacing back and forth in the room. She looked at Donnie to see his reaction, but it was hard to take her eyes off of the stranger in the room. |
Donnie hadn't expected the knock. He was expecting to go ahead and loose the game and move onto another one, happy as long as they were doing something to keep themselves occupied and generally happy. Of course, time never seemed to stop for them.
Amelia opened the door and a frantic man rushed in. Donnie wasn't sure what to expect, but there wasn't much time before the man rushed in to when he explained why he was there, luckily for them. His words made Donnie stop, and slightly gape at the man. "So it worked? The proffessor was in the prison?! Where do we need to meet her?" He asked hurriedly, almost as fast as the man had rattled his own words off. This was it. Maybe, just maybe they could finally figure this out and a way back home! He moved closer to Amelia just in case the frantic man was bad, awaiting an answer. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia took Donnie's hand in hers and kept staring at the man. "Ye..yes. She is waiting under. under the bridge." He blinked his eyes about four times before realizing he would have to take us to the bridge. "Oh.... sorry. But i. I can... can not take you." He look back and forth, before fretting over to the small window in the room and checking outside. This man made Amelia extremely nervous. The way he moved and the way he talked, nothing about him she liked, but she knew she had to find the Professor no matter what. "Here'sss a map." The man handed Donnie a piece a paper. It was crinkled and folded as neatly as the man could manage. The weird man looked back and forth and checked the window once more before he left their room, leaving Donnie and Amelia alone with the map. |
Donnie held the paper tightly, and guided Amelia over to sit down. He could tell she was a little rattled by the man. Then again, who wasn't? Donnie had even been a little wierded out. But assuming that the man had also been imprisoned made sense to why he would have been acting like that. He was hoping like hell it wasn't a trap. This was now their only lead.
He spread out the paper to make sure he could see it all well enough and then sat beside Amelia so she could take a gander at it as well. Donnie noticed that the bridge was a little further out of town, deffinatly not near the prison. "We could make this trip tonight?" Donnie asked Amelia to see what she thought about it. They could wait till the next day or night, but sooner might be the better choice. |
Amelia Marie Diederich Amelia followed Donnie's lead and sat down. She looked at the map. It was weird to see that it was hand drawn. She also looked to see if she could recognize the writing, unfortunately she didn't. Amelia nodded. She knew they shouldn't wait any longer then they had to. Even if it was a trap. " Should we tell anyone? Like maybe Fin?" She worried that Fin would wonder what they were up to or worse follow them. Though Fin was a nice guy, she didn't want to take any chances. Telling him something along the lines of they were going on a date later wouldn't raise any worries, rather then just sneaking out. Also she suggested that they wore their new clothes, as much as she hated putting that dress on. And that is what she did. She got ready by putting her dress on and making sure her back pack was full and ready. She really didn't want to leave anything behind just in case. |
