i think ill be working on my house design.. for the other server for minecraft today. Though id love to play guildwars but my account is still having a issue and their customer support still blows Dx
|
well.. i just blessed out the support people.. not that they read apparently but still i fell better -3- i got yet another automated reply with nothing to do with what my issue was that i spelled out in the title and 3 times now to them providing whatever information they needed.. im about to hook up this new scanner and be like heres the paper to prove it now fix it D< i missed all of the head start days because you guys can't read English apparently ... even though the usa support for ncsoft is in Texas
|
from what i've heard NCsoft has been proving amazing support. someone even saying 150% support o-o
I'm finally playing it now. a nice little level 15 asuran ranger :3 |
My elementalist is now level 44. It's amazing how fast I can level in this game. I'm enjoying it immensely. *nodsnods*
|
it's not about level in Gw though. I'm playing to explore more than anything, i don't care about my level. only at 20 so far. I'm a very casual player xD
|
So am I. I could probably have put another ten or so levels on, but I'm doing crafting, completing areas, and seeing all the dynamic events multiple times. *nodsnods*
|
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c5...eaves2-1-1.gif i just started a guardian to catch up to Kano's necro.. (like that';ll happen) but omg i ran up to something and was like o.O im sold gimme a shield nows <3 as far as support well I'm not overly impressed =/ I've been waiting for over a week now for a issue I submitted that is still not fixed lol. Because of the issue i missed all of the headstart days and the stress test (seeing as it counted as a headstart). XD not that i woulda gotten to play much anyway but still http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c5...ves2-1-1-1.gif |
I'm working full time and busy with moving and looking my internet. So im doing bad. Only 100% done two areas.
|
im still at 0% for any xD seeing as my toon is still level 1 lol
|
I bet you he's a mighty level one though!
|
xD i dunno its a guardian and i was like omg look at this thing and ended up with like 5-6 mobs in my face and lived. Then stood there like ok any other toon.. id be dead x'D
|
I made a charr guardian and he's indestructible at level 2 o.O compared to my ranger that is.
|
I just got the original Guild Wars about two months ago XD It was cheap as heck and it's all brand new for me.
Made a really hot mesmer with a goatee >.> I was actually vaguely disappointed when I found out GW2 has races. I kinda like everyone being human in the first one. |
I thought that the introduction of having the individual races, and the the story line that dictates your quest line was a great addition to the game.
|
After seeing those creepy little gremlin-looking things I'm not sure I'd want to play a game where a bunch of those were running around
give me the willies |
the asurans are great though.. and they tend to look more cute than creepy, though some are damn ugly xD
|
I don't know, everything I've read suggests that Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 are SO different, that they're only vaguely connected. Like, the connection via lore is really the only thing, and even that sounds a little stretched just based on how long has passed between games. So it sounds like there's no reason for me to feel drawn to GW2 as a GW fan. Maybe drawn to it because I think it sounds fun (I don't know enough about it to make that decision), but not BECAUSE it's Guild Wars, if that makes sense.
|
hey :D not sure if anyone from here is playing GW2 (since the last post was over a month ago)... but I'd just like to toss it out here that I have a guild on Henge of Denravi server and if anyone would like to take a (free) transfer out there I'd gladly have you in the guild :D
It's called "Earth Girls are Easy" [SYSC], and it's based on my love of cowboy bebop ^^;; Our guild emblem is a phoenix because, well, if you've seen Bebop you know why that's kind of neat. Also, phoenixes are cool. Sorry if I'm necro-ing, I've been torn since I joined whether or not to necro this or start my own, and I finally decided that since I'm contributing something it might be kosher. If anyone has any questions about the game feel free to post here or send me a message (like what it's like having your own loot drops and gathering nodes, spoiler: it's AWESOME). Anyways, I'm usually on my ranger, Ocelette! |
This site is slow as molasses anyway, don't worry about necroing XD
I haven't played GW in a while >.> (original, don't have 2) |
Ah! Thanks for the support Lestrade, haha! It was really eating me up ><
Well I heard they bridged the lore somewhat, but I barely played Guild Wars (original) before I picked GW2 up. I liked it, from what I played. I loved that you had an instance world all to yourself xD... GW2 you are playing with a ton of other people but there's little-to-no griefing that you'd expect, which is so amazing to me. Their whole stance is that we play together, not against eachother (except in wvwvw and pvp of course!). There's a story quest that you can partake in, and there's also a story connected to the group dungeons featuring characters I guess they put in a book that was meant to be between GW1 and GW2. The two are separate, and you can get to max level and do whatever you want without having to complete either, which is really nice. Arena Net pushes exploration so there are a lot of achievements for that. Jumping puzzles >.>;; ugh... get so frustrated with them sometimes... but at the end you really feel like you've accomplished something, which I haven't felt that way since FFXI (pre-abyssea). Sorry if that was a long-winded reply ><! |
GW2 is a work of art in every way.
Music, visuals, gameplay, system, community, writing/backstory/lore, everything. The fairness alone is enough to make an entire gaming community become actual people instead of exploiting jerkwads. Every time I go to grab a jumping puzzle, for example, the people around actually help you. Every event, it's like.. instead of people screeching about how you're a bad player or whatever, if someone dies, people rush to help. If someone is having trouble, they help. People actually take the time to extend a helpful hand to those who don't even ask for it, and even PUGs are nice. Who the hell ever sees that in games anymore? GW2 is a first for me. I mean, this is my experience on the Fort Aspenwood server at least. I've never seen an idiot noob speaking "leetspeak" over map chat anywhere. That should be an achievement in itself. The graphics too, holy shit. They worked their artists to the bone in order to accommodate those who can't afford top of the line PCs to play, which is something NOBODY ELSE DOES. Who would've thought a game company would actually consider those who couldn't spend loads of money? To me, it makes me think maybe, just maybe, Arenanet actually has both confidence, and understanding. Plus not just the in-game graphics, but the cutscene paintings are beautiful. Jeremy Soule. That's all I have to say about the music. Hnnng. Also, for me coming from Tera, I was used to action-based gameplay. The fact that Arenanet allows the true action combat mod someone made makes the gameplay even more fluid and easier and more fun to play than originally as well, for me. I like the skill system and the weapons system and how they have all of this set up as well. The combinations are fun also, which makes things all the more detailed and interesting to me ( like when I'm in a mess of a crowd, some elementalist drops a ring of fire and my ranger is suddenly shooting flaming arrows because of it, inflicting even more burn damage; that's always fun xD ) The way the looting system is set makes everything so fair, that it has exploiters crying about how the game isn't fun.. because they can't exploit. Which is funny. Event participation is also handy ( my computer lags so it's nice when I can't get a hit on the champion, yet I still get the chest because I participated the best I could. ) Plus your level adjusts to the area; nothing is TOO easy. You can't be a lv80 killing everything in a lv3 area since your level is pulled down to match. ( your gear and traits are the only things that can make a big difference, but you can't one hit everything like that either. ) Lovelovelovelove the fairness. PvPing kill stealing exploiters can be butthurt alllll they want. Hell, even when it comes to PvP... usually I'm one who stays as far away from PvPing as possible, but the WvWvW is actually pretty fun. Because it is fair and the majority of people aren't crybabies about it. The lore makes me excited. For example, just seeing the ruins of the original Lions Arch under water in GW2 gives me a very nice eerie feeling. And the way that there are REASONS in the story as to why some areas of the map aren't open yet ( like Elona and Cantha, if I remember correctly. I didn't play the original, but I read a good bit ) is clever. Most developers are like "meh, it's not done yet" but GW2 is like "WELL because Orr rose out of the ocean, it caused a tidal wave and because of the hordes of dead risen, we can't get in contact with these areas, but we know they still are there because sailors keep washing up on shore" <<<< for those of us who like lore, and the eerie kind of feeling you get when playing, that is love, lol. And the NPCs you meet especially during the story quests are developed so deeply, you get attached like reading a book. I mean Tybalt. For those who've played past lv 40-60, you know what I mean. ; A ;'' Wedidn'tgettohavethatapplecider. Baw. ( Hopefully that's not a spoiler ) Anyway, yeah. >__> Iloveit. lol Amoena: And you say YOU were long-winded. >___>;; EDIT: For those who haven't had the chance to experience it firsthand... Here are some beautiful vistas ( cutscenes from the jumping puzzles that pan around to show you the amazing scenery ) with some equally beautiful music from the original GW: 55 Vistas from GW2 |
Meizicht, that's exactly how the game is for me too ^^! I haven't tried the active mod yet, and I'm not sure I will, but I have played TERA and if there was one thing I was impressed with (aside from my weird feelings staring at my childish bunny be-hind) was the active combat. As far as GW2 goes, I --love-- doing flips and backflips all over Cursed Shore >:D
As far as pick up groups go, I find that there are more nice people than there are nasty, but there are a few losers on there (of course that's to be expected). The other night I was in a dungeon run and we had trouble getting past this one part where like.. 50 mobs decide to come attack and never go back to their starting spots, and this girl is like "oh well i'm going out to a party, see ya" and leaves. We were at the last boss, too. However, I was running this with people I knew: a friend from school, and two guys I met in another PUG the day before. We spent our free time after the failed dungeon run chasing eachother and the Charr making racist jokes at the humans v.v;; xD we had a blast at least :P! The halloween event was -to die for- (heh heh). We three-manned the halloween dungeon, jumped up the clock tower jumping puzzle, and I spent way too much money on black lion keys >.>;; It was awesome, and I've never had such a fun time and have never been so immersed in gameplay/lore :O Oh, I hate PVP too, but I -do- like wvwvw. The first time I did it (in september for the monthly), I absolutely hated it! I was cussing like a sailor (on leave). I skipped it in october and in november I tried it again with my friends and it was WAY more fun!! It's nice how they do wvwvw, like you can't hear people making fun of you when they kill you v.v (too many dodgeball horrors when I was a little loser in elementary school). |
I lagged way too much to do the clock tower, unfortunately ( as well as ascent to madness instance, but I managed to do that and my PUG was very patient and understanding about it, so that really impressed me. One of them even stayed behind to lead me down to the chest since I couldn't get there without direction lol )
I did buy both costumes - I mean who can turn down a flaming plant demon riding on a broom - and a package of halloween minis. @ u @ I figured it would be kind of a waste to buy the keys because the drop rate for the skins were crazy low. xD But I loved the halloween event too. I made so much money from the candy corn.. >__> Lol I love Tera for the character style mostly ( I tend to play prettyboys, and I made the best Castanics - Hurr hurr - and favored the High elves - prettyyy ) and I just got so used to the true action gameplay that now anything else is too easy. xD I kept saying before when I tried the Beta for GW2 ( though back then I couldn't play very well since it wasn't as optimized as it is now ) that if it played like Tera in basics, then it would be the perfect game. @__@ And it isssss. Lol I'm on a pretty kickass server, so there was one day where a bunch of people came into Lions Arch, telling everyone that we had all the WvWvW maps so that was the time to go grab all the vistas and complete the mists. It was hilarious because Maguuma figured that since we had all the maps under our control that we'd get bored and leave. But no, when they got there, they were all rushed with hordes of Fort Aspenwood people trying to complete the mists. xDD I remember following an army of like 30-50 people all running for about 10 Maguumas, rofl Kept imagining all their "oh shit"s as they tried to invade. xDD Which sort of brings me to another point about the community; instead of it seeming like childish "neener neener"s and taunting, it was more like actual competitive spirit. Yes, there were calling-outs and taunts, but nobody was taking it personally, and it felt all in good spirit. I mainly am used to communities from free to play games like Jade Dynsasty... and if you've ever played Jade Dynasty... ugh. The things I could say. It's a drastic difference; a very pleasant one. @__@ xD Sorry for the screenshots; I use visuals better than words a lot. Plus I like them. >__> ( Though my screens from GW2 aren't the best because my graphics card likes to invent dark boxes around things, since I can't boost it all the way. Mypoorprocessorwilldie. ) |
ahh I just bought a new graphics card (nvidia 550 *drool*) and my baby i3 processor (3.06 ghz) handles it like a dream on high settings. the graphics card is about 120-150$ and the processor was I think around 115$ when I bought it... not too bad. Ugh I'll stop now gushing about my PC, I built it myself and am over-proud xD!
But yes, the community is really good despite it being "buy to play" which is essentially free to play. Also, I love that you don't have to buy to win. I end up dumping 10$ a month anyways into gems just because I can. Oh but that's one of the best things -- you can just convert gold to gems. Awesome right? After the 60$ or so to buy the game you never have to spend money on it until they release full on expansion packs. Are you going to do the Lost Shores event? I'm super excited for it, but like a lot of other people am worried about underwater fighting. At least I have a giant shark to help me o_o |
I've been playing on a single core processor ( and not the best one. I can't even have SAI open while listening to music, so it's annoying since music helps me focus and I can't even do that. -__- ), so I can't do much. The best I'll have in a couple weeks or so is a used computer ( with a dual core, finally OTL ) I got recently, but I have to wait a while to get a new graphics card ( Galaxy GeForce with 2GB of memory. It's good for it's price; I can't go and get any $100+ cards. ) due to bills. Idk when I'll be able to use it. x__x;
This one wont upgrade because the motherboard is old, and the graphics card in it is an AGP. So I can't use it for the new computer because it's a PCIe slot. I was really stuck lol. Plus I need more ram for it - it only has 2GB in it right now. So I dunno if I'll be super active with lost shores. There might be too much lag for me to do anything. I can't even do any of the bigger events ( like Claw of Jormag, Shatterer, etc ) because I get less than one frame per second. My ranger isn't the best underwater, also. x__x And I just recently got to 80, I can't do dungeons because of lag and so I don't make much money so I don't have all my gear upgraded yet. It's hard to control underwater when you have 1-5 fps and even less when there's tons of people around lol. |
o_o what galaxy geforce is it?
i'm glad you're getting a new-ish computer though x.x dual core might help quite a bit but it depends on a lot of other things. try it on the lowest settings possible (even lower than reccommended perhaps) and see if that helps some. My build was like 390$ when I originally built it, and the graphics card was an nvidia geforce 240gt 512 mb. Ran everything like a dream AND runs guild wars super smooth-like. If you can find one, they're probably selling now for between 40 and 80$. THe only game it won't play nice with is FFXIV, but just a quick snip into your registry and it manages. |
xD; Oh believe me, I know basics enough to where I have been playing it on the lowest settings possible. It doesn't help at all, since it's not a problem with my graphics. It's the processor; no matter what I do, the more people around, the laggier it is. It runs very smooth on highest settings when there's nobody around. There's actually not much difference between highest and lowest settings on this computer; the lag is the same either way. Like I said, my graphics card can handle it just fine. My processor just can't handle all the people.
This is the GeForce I'm going to order in a couple weeks or so. Right now I don't have the money, so I have to wait. Also, since I live in a fairly remote town, I don't really have the option to look around ( shipping fees, etc, so over the internet like Newegg, etc, aren't good for me. This is a order and free pickup so it's the best deal I've got. ) The card I have in this computer that I've been playing it on is an ATI Radeon HD 3600 ( 1GB of memory ). Which, honestly, I've been met with people going "egh" about it, but it is not bad at all. ( I hate it when people bag on my specs when they have all the money in the world they can throw around, so they think I can just get a new one -___- Plus 90% of those people haven't even used it. ) If this were a faster computer, I'd be able to use it to its full potential. |
I PM'd you because I think we're getting offtopic :D
My cat has even taken to watching me play GW2. I think she's jelly of my pets in game >.>;; Last night I just got my dailies and not much else because I had school then work right away -.-; Today is a good GW2 day, plus I have a friend coming over so I'll probably make him watch for a bit o_o I frequent mmorpg.com and the community on there in response to GW2 is just hilarious. "the game is dying!" "it's a cute 2-month game" <-- in a year, they'll be saying "it's a cute 12 month game, but i want more" too xD It gets to the point where they're not even valid discussions anymore. |
I'm a shut-in so I have all the time in the world.
Well, I would. But oddly enough, shut-ins have their own problems too. @__@ But lol you should see mmosite. It's full of know-it-alls and PvP exploiters, newbie griefers, ego maniacs, narcissists, wannabe techies, a surprisingly massive homophobic group, and trolls galore. My explanation for all these butthurt dipwits have a large collection of reasons: The PvP exploiters more than likely are the same ones who make it their goal in life to grief other players. This is like the biggest group of idiots who can make a game really suck for people like me who like to go at their own pace and enjoy it without having to think about who's going to camp your ass and make you miserable. Sooo 1. They can't steal loot, since it's distributed to every player separately. Can't piss off anyone there. 2. Can't kill-steal. You just land one hit on it and you get equal credit no matter what. You can't rush in front of a player and kill their mobs before they can, so you can't push them out of an area to keep it for yourself. So greifing there is useless. 3. No open PvP. Can't go camp a newbie or lower level player anywhere to make their playing experience shitty and boost your ego. Even if it were open PvP, with the level-adjusting system they have, you're liable to get your own ass kicked no matter how many levels you are above a level 10, if they're not pushovers. 4. WvWvW automatically has you at lv80, and you're swarming with groups of people from your own server. Since it's a group effort, you can't single out people there unless they're wandering around by themselves, in which case they're just asking to be ganked. Can't boost your ego with that since griefers tend to work solo - I take it as a predator-eat-predator thing; two douchebags can't be in the same place at once or the most immature world/map chat spectacle will happen within moments. 5. Can't hoard the goods. PvP gear, cultural sets, costumes, etc are all soulbound or accountbound. Can't go farming or finding exploits to sell tons of them on the trading post. No get-rich-off-the-less-informed scheme since there's also a smart and quick "highest buyer" vs "lowest seller" arrangement that makes it really easy to spot the moneygrubbers from those trying to actually sell shit. No extensive scrolling or quantity tricks to switch your mind into thinking "Oh 1g is the lowest price for one of these +totally overlooks the 1g for 5 of 'these'+" since it automatically calculates that crap for you. So to hell with the Donald Trumps of the gaming world. You get rich in GW2, it's honest and hurts no one. 6. These guys only think ego ego ego, rush rush rush, so they don't appreciate the vistas and graphics as much as the rest of us. They want to hit cap and own face ( mostly through exploits and glitches instead of honestly ) so they think the jumping puzzles are stupid. ( In which I say go back to League of Legends or WoW. ) 7. Just like in 6, like hell they'd take the time to appreciate the story too. They'd treat it like "oh that's too nerdy for me, I'm just here to be the best at everything" and they'd just rush through it without taking the time to read everything. And then they whine about how it wasn't deep enough for them and didn't have a good story. Lawl. 8. Group effort. Usually I'm a soloer too ( so the no need for a party thing is really really a lifesaver game-wise and I loooovvve it. /end sidenote ) but so are the greifers. They would hate group events being shared credit. Then they scream about all the unskilled "nubs" getting credit for their kills. Even though they get credit too.. ( I find it pretty sad that they think gaming should require skill. It's a game. Not synchronized swimming. ) 9. Though there is a cash shop, it does not carry items that will put players ahead of others. It's mostly cosmetic with a few boosts - which you get as prizes for completing maps and other random drops, so it's really not unfair; plus you can buy gems with gold - so you can't buy to win. Of course these guys will turn it around and say the boosts ( which are just karma boosts, magic find, exp, etc. And really who needs the exp boost? THERE IS SO MUCH EXP TO EARN IN-GAME, IT'S ALMOST TOO EASYYYY, rofl. ) are unfair to players who can't pay, when really they're mad that it ISN'T that way. ( Whenever you see a troll shouting "GW2 IS B2W" you'll know they're one of those. ) Anyway, can't flash your cash and blast to the top within moments, which causes richkid slanderflubs. Pretty sure there's more, but those are the big reasons in my opinion. But I like this because this chases away the people who cause major problems. Makes the community nice and helpful, like it is already. I just laugh whenever I see these reasons being used in someone's argument about why "GW2 is soooo bad". Because it makes it easy to pick out what kind of person they are. Most cases, the idiot whining about the game being "boring" are the same people camping weaker players in games like Loong and former Prius. ... Crafty player filtering system, right? xDD Make a good game and the griefers go running. WHO WOULD'A THOUGHT? |
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c5...__by_Smidy.gif http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c5...eaves2-1-1.gif Kano and I play this >w< ~don't ask what server because I really forget heh....~ Though the highest we've gotten is 39 (well me anyway) I'm waiting for his guardian to catch up to my cleric (guardian..) so than we can play together XD http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c5...ves2-1-1-1.gif |
xD I had no idea what server I started on, it was Sorrow's Furnace I think. Then I switched to Henge of Denravi and have been on there ever since.
I found that even the DE's don't get too boring, so I dragged my friend Alis around Kryta getting him his hearts :P It's fun mowing things down at level 80 scaled down to like.. level 5 xD |
http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c5...__by_Smidy.gif http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c5...eaves2-1-1.gif i like the scaling but they need to work on it :P hehe .. not crazy over the events. Seem a bit scattered or focus towards higher levels and a poor sense of direction if your not a daily player. Maybe its just me xD http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c5...ves2-1-1-1.gif |
Well, yeah I mean a lot of times during the week if I have no motivation i'm like "meh may as well get my dailies". But I'll log on a lot and be like "augh!!! gotta get this vista if it kills me (again)!!" ... and then I do, and I feel accomplishment.
If you don't explore the areas, I find it hard to know what things are what. For instance, if you don't hang around queensdale and all of a sudden people are like "trolls up" you're like "whaaa?" They just made champions drop more/betterer stuff. Did you participate in the event at all this weekend Rose? My goodness it was sexy! xD The rewards -- people were getting pieces for their legendary weapons o_o |
I'm playing! *raises hand* I have an asura theif and a human elementalist. I'm playing on um Fergusson's Crossing!
|
:D ah Winter have you done any crafting yet?
How do you like Asura? I love how cute they run! |
I have not done any crafting no! lol
I am only level 16! haha. I do love how cute they run. Their heads are too heavy! |
I love how they like swing their arms around >.>;; flailing x.X
ahhh well get to gathering/mining/logging cuz you'll need that all later on :D |
i'm sure v.v *grumbles*
|
I did the lost shores event but I had one frame per MINUTE at the end. DDDDDx
Thankfully I still got gold participation and some really good loot. But damn. One frame per minute. Not even exaggerating; I timed that shit. I think I got 3 frames the entire end fight. And I was stuck in overflow the entire weekend ksjdhflahfj |
yaaa our overflow crashed and when we got back on the event had restarted (after about an hour in!)... crazy event.. but my goodness.. gotta love the exotics/20slot bag o_o
