Hehe, just eff! <3

On the way home, just before we got home we saw like at least 30 deers. I got a few pictures and stuff but this was the best one. I took a video too and i'll get it uploaded soon. This was about ten driving seconds from where we live. So COOL!

I really gotta work on these papers so I don't think i'll be on much if at all tonight.

Miss you and huggles forever!!

Pisces 03-07-2011 08:22 PM

Aww! Look at how cute they all are! That's a whole lot of them too! <333 I can't wait for the video!

Got a ride home. Yay! And I'll hang out until you log off. And then, I've got some fancy new books to read! If you spoil your kid as much as you spoil me, that kid is going to made of pure sugar. XD And I haven't opened my present. But it got ripped in the corner in the packaging, so I know it's a book. I just don't know what book. XP

You left a bookmark in the book! It's all cloth and rainbow-y on the back with a pretty bluish design on the front. Lemme know if you'd like me to mail it back!

In Defense of Rational Belief: A Lonely Struggle
The word rational is indicative of rationality itself. According to the Oxford English Dictionary, it is: the power or faculty of reason. Often times it is the case that to assert rationality one need prove the opposite; irrationality. Milton stands alone, as I feel he often does, as a man who defends what he believes to be true and good. A man on a mission from God who has been chosen to enlighten his fellow man on all things rational especially in regard to religion and human rights. Or at least that is what he would like you to believe. When you think of a man so strongly grounded in his belief of a religion that he believes himself to be chosen by God, according to Milton, you need look no further.
Time and time again, throughout much of his discourse, Milton outright exclaims this idea of being a chosen one. In “Reason of Church-Government” he says things like “God have given me ability…” and “God at the present had lent me…” (838) [fix cite]. He speaks these notions in defense of his belief in his religion. And he speaks these things as if he is alone in the world banging on a door, like another man in defense of his religion did many years before him. He is saying “Hang on a minute!” You can almost see his exasperation and you can definitely feel his ostracization from the world around him.
“I shall deserve of the age by bringing into the light as true a birth as the Muses…” [cite stationer to the reader] This passage from Moseley would easily lead one to believe that he is a true admirer of Milton. He is even going so far as to say that the man himself needs no title. His work speaks for itself. While his minutes or biography are put together with little to no emotion they are genuine. A quick perusal of them does not offer the reader any feelings of ill will. Instead you read very straight forward accounts, clearly stating that Milton was “of a very cheerful humor” (xxvii) and often time “pleasant in his conversation…but satirical” (xxviii). The man was not without his share of problems. He had one wife leave him under curious circumstances. He also lost two wives as well as two children. With such a seemingly high turnover of loved ones in his life it is only understandable for him to feel anger, admonishment. To feel as if God has forsaken him. It is understandable for him to question why all of these things happen, why the punishment? Let us not forget that the man lost his eye sight long before he even began to figuratively pen his most well known piece of work. Paradise Lost.
Yet, Milton carries on. And with a vengeance it would seem. The harder his life becomes only seems to plunge him forward. It only seems to make him work that much harder to get to where he surely is intended and meant to be. Upon publishing his “Poems”, Milton commissioned a William Marshall to do an engraving for the cover. The outcome was very much to Milton’s displeasure and he made this very clearly and cleverly known to his public. Having the artist, who was unknowing of the language; engrave directly underneath the image a statement of utmost embarrassment on many accounts, to the artist himself.
It is such things as this that I believe may not have won Milton many supporters. While it is quite clever for him to have done this to the artist, who may or may not have been attempting his own cruelty upon a man he himself did not appreciate, what room would this leave onlookers to find trust? There is no question that Milton had enemies as well as trusted comrades and even admirers so it is almost a meaningless assumption on my part. But it lingers as a curious point for me and makes me wonder if it was a sort of passive-aggressive smack in the face to his enemies. Being no fan of loneliness myself, I can understand the anger and almost apathetic world view. The view that goes from underground to the high heavens in the blink of an eye. I wonder if Milton needed some happy pills or if it really was just the belief in God that got him through troubled times.

I need about 500 more words. I was on a roll but it totally just stopped. urgh!

Pisces 03-08-2011 09:07 PM

I'm liking it a lot. 500 more words? Eeep! I like it the way it is. Go drink some tea, heehee. Tea is always good for creativity! For me at least. X_X

.rousium 03-08-2011 09:09 PM

Yes! Tea does sound good. *goes to make hot water*

Pisces 03-08-2011 09:15 PM

Hey! One of those plant thingies grew! 'Bout time. X__X

Hmm...I think I might want some too. That Pau D'arco was yuuumy. <33 I'm in love with Early Grey now. XD

.rousium 03-08-2011 09:18 PM

<3

I saw your little plant thinger! Hehe :) I went and checked mine. Maybe i'll just make a post here in the thread for clickies.

Yeah, Earl Grey is goodness. :)

I need about 500 more words for this paper.

I.

Can..
Do............

This?...

Pisces 03-08-2011 09:41 PM

Of course you can do this!

Sorry for the late reply, wild doggie dinner time. X___X

Quote:

In “Lycidas”, a poem written for an acquaintance’s death, Milton reaches deep inside himself to feel the anguish of death. One could view this as some sort of sadistic plot twist in the course of Milton’s life. I feel Milton was surrounded by death and in a way found a sort of calm divinity in being able to deal more concisely with this part of life. Death is a part of life and if one is to consider them self a sort of right hand of God then one surely has to be understanding and willing to face such facts.
With this same work, it is understood that Milton used the notoriety and ability to take part in such a collection as a means of gaining recognition. Isn’t this just God’s will at work? Isn’t it just divine fate? Is there really any room for anyone else? And if there is, who is a man to judge or decide the better outcome when it’s God the almighty telling you, subtly or not so, that you are chosen; that you are doing his will.
I believe that Milton was in the right place at the wrong time. He seemed almost always to be preaching to a choir that belonged to a completely different set of beliefs. To many other’s it would have been a daunting task. A task maybe not worth their time but a task Milton took to heart. I feel if you look at his perseverance and just his sheer strength of willpower you have to recognize him for what he was or better yet, what he was doing. Milton was on his own epic journey and it was wrought with vast settings, quests, Godly interventions and an incredible amount of unsavory characters for him to struggle and battle against. Who rose above as the victor is a matter of opinion but one that even a blind man could clearly see.
200 or so more words............

.rousium 03-08-2011 09:57 PM

171 more words to go actually. I feel like I don't know where I can add more. Maybe at the end, I could talk about outsiders views along side my own?

Also, dang...maybe I do write okay?

Pisces 03-08-2011 10:03 PM

Pssht, of course you write okay! You write fabulous! And 171 words will go by so fast once you get the right direction. If you have ever the slightest idea of what to add, go for it. Also, a tip! You looked pretty good on it, but don't use contractions. "isn't" and "don't" can easily be double if broken. I think you already did that though, I don't see any.

.rousium 03-08-2011 10:06 PM

HAha...cheater peter! Yeah, I tend to not use them because my writer voice is very boom boom boom! And did not sounds better then didn't.

<33

Man I already feel so much better having this damn thing almost done!!! AAHAH!!

.rousium 03-08-2011 10:08 PM

Gonna jump in the shower real fast before it gets much later. My hair takes forever to dry.

Pisces 03-08-2011 10:13 PM

Heehee. Alright, then I'm gonna go spend some time reading. Talk to you tomorrow then? You can totally tackle this paper. <33 You're almost done!

Feel tree to text me!

.rousium 03-08-2011 10:22 PM

Okay! Yeah, I got this shit! Shoooooooooooooooooot...

Nite you!

Pisces 03-09-2011 10:46 AM

Really. Really now? I spent TIME putting together my part of the information for our group presentation, give it to someone who has access to our group "leader", the one putting the movie together, and they don't fucking email him my share. So I did all that work - for what? Nothing! All the information we present isn't going to include mine.

Ugh.

Pisces 03-09-2011 10:50 AM

STOP POSTING THE SAME THING TWICE. D:<

.rousium 03-09-2011 11:40 AM

Wait, what? You'll get credit won't you?

Pisces 03-09-2011 11:46 AM

Yeah, since my name got thrown in on the slide, but my information was in there. I'm just super miffed. I'm going to sound like a bitch here for a moment, but if they'd just let ME handle gathering the info and putting it together, I would have been anal about getting everyone's contact info and their presentation info. Ugh, I should have expect this. I HATE working in groups because I always get the groups of people who dick around and do a shitty job.

Sorry. I think I'm more than just miffed. -___-;;

.rousium 03-09-2011 11:49 AM

Nah, i'm the same. I'm very organized and most people aren't and when you're names on the line it's hard to let someone else have all that control. Especially when you know they suck. :P

Pisces 03-09-2011 11:54 AM

YEAH. Exactly. X___X But then, lol, when I AM the one who is in charge of the group, I get all resentful-like and would rather just NOT do it at all. XP I KNOW I can be in control of myself, and I KNOW I will get what I need done, done.

*grumblegrumble*

.rousium 03-09-2011 11:59 AM

Hehe. *hugs*

It's snowing so much here! Like...a freaking lot! It was almost a white out but still had to come to class, yay! Couldn't have done this last week when I stayed home, of course.

PS. I updated the rp, in case you haven't checked. :P

Pisces 03-09-2011 12:08 PM

We snowed on Monday, but it all just melted yesterday. Still effing cold.

Derp! I keep meaning to go add my own bit. Lunch, I promise, I'll add something. =)

.rousium 03-09-2011 09:34 PM

No rush lady! None at all. I just didn't know if you saw I updated.

Yeah, we got a buttload of snow today. It's not snowing anymore buuuut..I guess we are looking at the possibility of more.

Ah! Oh well, rather snow then murders all day err day.

Pisces 03-09-2011 11:19 PM

Plus, the snow should be all nice and watery for spring which means more flowers!

Also, the guy selling both his Xinnians skipped over me and sold them to someone else. *sigh* So i won't need any au. But thank you.

.rousium 03-10-2011 12:45 AM

What the crap, who was it?

lollie 03-10-2011 02:17 AM

hello there

Pisces 03-10-2011 10:17 AM

Illusion or some such. XP I just wish I would have gotten ONE, but whoever bought them got both. ;____; Gyah! Oh well. I guess that was enough good fortune for the marketplace, after finding a seller for the aScellus Jacket that DIDn't want just runes. XP

Hello there Lollie. Welcome to our little home. =) How are you?

.rousium 03-10-2011 02:37 PM

Hey there lollie.

Ugh, Pie..grr. Just grr!

Alright, I got this paper to spit out today. It should be much easier then the Milton one thankfully.

Pisces 03-10-2011 03:53 PM

Whoot! I'm at the library, might be off and on a lot today. ilu. <333

.rousium 03-10-2011 04:00 PM

ilu too!

Writing this paper, yyyyayyayayayaya so fun so funsososososofufnfnfn..

not.

Think it's done. Or at least I just don't care to do it anymore. Tell me if you see anything strange?

Pisces 03-10-2011 09:50 PM

It's wonderful Rousi! I love anything about strong women. <3

In the first paragraph, you should combine those first two sentences. It'll be a long sentence, but the second part, although still technically a sentence, is an awkward one. "Hippolita can only blame herself and struggle with her delicacy in ways unknown and or more correctly not willingly understood by a modern woman." You should put a comma after "and" and "correctly" so that it reads, "Hippolita can only blame herself and struggle with her delicacy in ways unknown and, or more correctly, not willingly understood by a modern woman."

"He, just as many of the female characters throughout these novels are, is blind." This is a good sentence, but the way that it's broken up leads to some mental tripping over a step. "Are" and "is" are two subject-agreement words that get mixed up all the time, and although they are used correctly, having them right next to each other makes you sort of go, "wait, what?" My recommendation would to not break up the phrases, so it would read along the lines of, "Just as many of the female characters throughout these novels are, he is blind."

Everything else looks beautimous! You're gonna knock his socks off!

Brb, dinner

.rousium 03-10-2011 10:37 PM

Girl! Shoooot! Don't you know I went and forgot you were online.

I SOWWY!

And! Thank you for looking! I trust your advice. :)

.rousium 03-10-2011 10:42 PM

This ones actually for my other english class. YAY!

Pisces 03-10-2011 10:46 PM

Lol, it's fine! I had just enough time to pop on, read the essay, write a response, and then dinner was done. XD

You're gonna kick butt with that. <33

How was your day, other than writing the above?

.rousium 03-10-2011 10:57 PM

I vacuumed, cleaned the litter box, did the dishes, showered, spent a little time on the treadmill and...that's about it..other then this paper.

I switched a few things..the first and last paragraphs really. One last look over and i'll leave you alone for the night on the topic of this paper.

The gothic novel is a genre ripe with archetypes, be it the overflow of the sublime landscape, the affluence and domination of the male figures or, the lack of backbone the females of the time appeared to have. Time and time again, when reading any book in this genre, you will be inundated with a flood of feminine helplessness as well as male invulnerability. That is until you meet Maria De Vellorno and Ferdinand, son of the marquis, both key figures in Radcliffe’s “A Sicilian Romance.”

Marie De Vellorno is playing with her stature in her era while Ferdinand is almost like a shrinking violet, which is to say that he plays more the usual objectified role of the female. De Vellorno is not a good person or a good example of femininity to say the least. And Ferdinand, while without a doubt far more moral a person then De Vellorno he is not the norm. However, both of these characters are without a doubt characters who stand out amongst the crowd. They just don’t fit the standard mold.

I feel like my paper didn't just focus on HER so I made the thesis and wrap up include Ferdinand as well.

Pisces 03-10-2011 11:09 PM

I think it could work either way, but I personally like the second edit you did better. <33

.rousium 03-10-2011 11:15 PM
