I'm a bit confused. I get that where you live there is no stance and you just shoot and hope to hit (The team's coach used to call it "Blind Shooting") But I thought besides "Blind Shooting" there was only two stances(Left and right handed)

This stance:http://i1141.photobucket.com/albums/...e/a_step1b.gif

Does Japanese Archery use a different stance?

Demonskid 01-18-2012 09:41 PM

i said style not stance =/

their style holds honor and means something.

They say: if your mind is troubled it shows in your archery

just like it would in ones art or something. in america.. they don't have that.. its just aim to kill.. there is no style.. no meaning

*sits in on the lesson* owo

DarkForbidden-Love 01-18-2012 09:46 PM

oh, whoops. Me being American in all stance=style in my mind. Strange American mindset. So you're saying that most (American)people/archers hold no meaning in their archery? I can kinda see that in some people but at the same time I look at others who take archery very seriously and can become offended when some degrades archery. And I actually had a coach at one point who made us meditate to find the center of our balance and being.

*Clings to Asumi* Sorry, I've been busy. I'm actually kinda surprised I have time to be on now.

ouo I'd like to be trained under your coach..

but yea around here its all.. "kill kill kill" ono my mom is all about 'robin hood' ... robin hoods are good and all but thats not what archery is about ono

Reyoki 01-18-2012 09:57 PM

Darn redneck death archery.

DarkForbidden-Love 01-18-2012 09:57 PM

He was a team coach and unsurprisingly that was the year our team took first at Nationals. But I guess it helps alot when you live in a very urban environment, either you are calm and collected or you aren't. And I know out of a team of 16, three hunt. Most of us are competition archers only or in some cases rare cases, bored enough to join archery. Those who don't have a passion or affinity for archery are weeded out pretty quickly, as it is easy for the coaches to tell who is focausing and being controlled over who is just there to be 'there'

Demonskid 01-18-2012 10:00 PM

I just hope this place isn't about killing ono

I want to hopefully beable to one day be good at it and go to a competition or two

Asami 01-18-2012 10:01 PM

awuh im sorry dark :c i miss you

DarkForbidden-Love 01-18-2012 10:05 PM

Look up the World Archery Tornement to get an idea of where you stand. if you oft shoot in the 290-300 range you'll get in the first 50 of Worlds. You have to shoot from two distances, 15 and 30 meters, I believe. Three rounds (Five arrows)+ one or two practice rounds at each distance.

Asumi, I miss Tris in general, and I can't wait till April becuase the thing keeping me off Tris should be wrapped up by then.

Demonskid 01-18-2012 10:07 PM

ouo I'll do that some time

I just hope i can get into it <3

DarkForbidden-Love 01-18-2012 10:10 PM

If you live in the US or Canada each territory/state has a compition to which the top three teams and individuals (Male & Female) move on to Nationals. People/teams who place in top five of Nations move on to Worlds. I don't know when the Archery compitions for Canada start but I know in the US they start with the school year as we have NASP.

Asami 01-18-2012 10:17 PM

thats so long from now D: i hope youll be able to get the event items!

DarkForbidden-Love 01-18-2012 10:22 PM

Chances are I won't get them all but I'll probably be able to buy them later so I'm not worried. And yes, April is far away.
