It is my dream to own a sailboat big enough to live on...and live on it. :) Stay near the coast, though, so I can still use the internet without $8000 a month satellite uplinks.

I mostly went sailing at a summer camp growing up, and working there for a few years at the end of high school & after. Also sailed in high school, since my school had boats. Lasers and 420s, specifically. Summer camp had Sunfish, lasers, lightnings, and some bigger boats (I got to be the "captain" of a nice 33' sailboat during the last summer I worked there. :3 )

That's worlds more than me. I went on a canoe trip down the Pine river as a kid, and my dad had a friend with a boat that used to take us along the coast to see the sea lions congregate each year, and my "uncle" (miscellaneous male not-quite-relative) always has a boat of some kind that we used to go and see the fireworks festival on each year. Summer camp in Ontario I puttered around Lake Joseph on a catamaran, and that was great fun. Now I mostly get to drive a riverboat a little bit when I visit my dad and we actually go out on the river. I did decide to do something water oriented when I was in Denmark, and rented a kayak to mosey about the canals in Copenhagen.

Fun fact: Semi's family sailed around the coast from Texas to New York and back when he was a kid (early teenage years).
Lucid sailed a tiny two-person lakeboat this summer.

Oh, that'd be fun. :D

Toho, where did you go to school at? (Is asking cause she may be doing graduate at either USF OR UWF)

Tohopekaliga 10-16-2012 11:16 PM

I went to UF for a bit, but actually graduated from a place called "Full Sail" in Orlando (that has nothing to do with Sailing), and I live practically next to UCF now.

Tiva 10-16-2012 11:20 PM

My parents where near you last week... they were at disney world.... or land which ever is in FL......

And I think I have heard of Full Sail... checking

And I do.... one of my film friends was going to go there but too expensive.

Tohopekaliga 10-17-2012 12:03 AM

Disney World is here, yeah. :) My mom works for Disney.

I went to Full Sail for programming stuff...and yeah, it was expensive. ;.; I still owe $40,000 for that.

Meanwhile I live near Disneyland. :P

My wife has a friend who works at Disney World, too. She's Pluto.

.______________. Fun fast about Nexy, She had so many art scholarships they paid for all of her university classes, she still even has enough money to go back to school for free for two more years.

Tohopekaliga 10-17-2012 12:32 AM

I had scholarships when I went to UF, but I was a lazy, lazy slacker, so I got booted out and lost all my lovely scholarships.

I'd also gone to school for aerospace engineering: Wanted to work for NASA and stuff. Dodged that bullet.

Nexess 10-17-2012 12:33 AM

-flails- That would have been a sweet job Toho!

Tohopekaliga 10-17-2012 12:34 AM

It would have been...except that NASA fired almost everybody who works for them here.

Tiva 10-17-2012 12:34 AM

Eh... but then we would have no Toho....

Nex I want your scholarships!

Nexess 10-17-2012 12:37 AM

owo Really? >Lives in Canada< I don't really pay attention to your country enough >w>;;

Tiva - .__. If I could actually give them away I would.

Tohopekaliga 10-17-2012 12:38 AM

Yeah, after the Space Shuttle program ended, they laid off almost their entire staff at Cape Canaveral.

Granted, if I'd gone the route I was going when I was at UF, I'd probably still be in the Navy right now.
