Just dont be foolish like this one guy who came from a really good family. Guy gave away all his money and dropped off the map. It turned out that he had decided that he would be like Earnest Hemingway and trecked all the way into Alaska to be a survivalist... without any training.
@Asami; Ahh, k. I'm mildly excited because my mentore has a TV show now. |
What show and who?
Who? Lol that's epic c:
Want know what show your teach has!
"Full Metal Jousting" on the History Channel, it starts on the 2nd.
By the way; did you mean Who was the foolish boy who died trying to be a survivalist? |
Who is it on the show?
Shane Adams of the Knights of Valour, the North American Jousting Champion.
Sweet! I'm jealous of you... But not of him. No way am I getting on a horse period...
Its not that bad. It's getting hit in the head with a longsword by the guy on the horse that sucks. :P
(Only learned that 3 times xD) |
I don't like horses... they kinda scare me.
Ahhh. They are basically giant dogs, when you think about it. I've even seen one throw itself on it's back and just start rolling around to scratch its back like a dog would. Granted, one of the horses I worked with, Athose didn't like me. They are smart animals, and this guy just looked at me, planted his hoof right down on my boot, and leaned his full weight into it, watching me the entire time. Like he was thinking; "You think I listen to you?"
I wear steel toed boots, however, so it was all fine. But this same horse head butted me last time I worked with him xD. Something about; "Fuck you and the horse rides for the kids! I'm thirsty, damnit!" |
Nice sounds coll Cronis.
Aye, Shane is a badass.
I'll complain about the participants in the show, but Shane doesn't mess around. It's going to be a very real look at Jousting. I remember a few years back we thought he broke his neck when someone hadn't sinched his saddle properly, causing it to turn over while he was on it just after being hit. But he got right back up and said "One more time!" |
Isn't he like the number one jouster in the world or something like that...?
Probably not the world, but in the USA and Canada yes.
that's kinda cool... What is jousting like?
That's pretty awesome.
I would have to agree Ren.
In a word; Amazing. Especially when your in the list with them.
two 900+ pound horses, with two 200+ pound men, each wearing roughly 70-100 pounds of armor, travelling at 25 MPH, and hitting each other with the combined force of a 30MPH car crash- 3 to 5 times a round. Keeping in mind, these are not normal horses, these are Percheron War Horses. Even with full armor, roughly 3-5 jousters die a year. And when they actualy hit each other, the lances can shatter into pieces, some traveling up to thirty feet from the impact. If a Knight falls off, he looses. Otherwise, whoever has the most shattered lances is the winner. I saw one knight, Mark, get dismounted and slam into the center post that supports the List line before falling off of it. We thought we was really hurt when he began yelling, and when we got his helmet off blood was in his mouth, but it was from him biting his tongue from the impact. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HabgFb0Z5XU Thats a video of them. |
That's really scary!
But quite exciting. Until the Cannon, fired off by some reinactors, spooks the horse and said horse bolts through the crowd.
Why would people do that?
Part of their show which preceeded ours. Normally it's not a problem, but on this particular day they packed it with too much powder.
Oh wow that sucks but jousting has always been intriguing to me.
Aye. Alot of troupes fake it, but the Knights of Valour dont.
Ahhhh that's awesome.
So whats up tonight?
Not too much.
Same on my end.
Ahhhh woot grand chase and blaring music.
