"Those two slept together already?" Mail frowned and took the phone from Near- almost swerving into oncoming traffic.
"This was sent from Mail," Near informed, pulling the phone away. "I would appreciate Mail keeping his eyes on the road!"
"Huh?" Mail tossed the phone back to Near. "Uhh...well, I'm not completely proud of it but, he's pretty nice between the sheets, if you read me."
Mail laughed. |
"I am impressed," Near admitted, putting the phone away.
"In which instance?" Mail asked.
"That Mail was able to leak it to a press in a way that didn't appear false," Near snorted. "Especially since it didn't actually happen. Because according to 'Missy', Nate passed out and she drove him home that night. But Mail insisted they slept together. It was very clever... Mail almost had me convinced until I read Missy's reply."
"These controversial relationships are what make careers." Mail shrugged. "I was helping Nate out."
"He didn't seem to appreciate it," Near informed. "Rather ungrateful of him, really."
"Ah, it's okay." Mail waved it off. "Probably better for him that it wasn't real anyway. Otherwise, he'd never get with Mihael."
"Mihael doesn't seem to be interested," Near hummed. "Nate obsesses over him but Mihael has shown no signs of adoration in reply."
"I don't know about that." Mail replied. "But I don't think he's any good for Nate either."
"Why is that?" Near asked him, turning back to the redhead with a curious look on his face.
"Well...what's Mello like back home?" Mail asked.
"They are two separate people," Near reminded.
"Somehow, I doubt that." Mail snorted. "...Nate's too nice of a guy to let him make a mistake he'll regret for the rest of his life."
"...Mail likes him, doesn't he?" Near hummed.
"I like him like I like you." Mail replied.
"Mail is full of shit," Near informed - something a little bit unusual for him to say.
"I'm full of shit?" Mail blinked.
"Nate," Near said simply, studying Mail's face for a moment. "Mmhmm... Mail's eye lids twitched and his lips tightened. That is a reaction of either disgust when a person's name is mentioned, or disgust when someone else mentions a person you care for deeply as a result of deep seeded jealousy. Since Mail speaks of Nate highly, I doubt he dislikes him."
"Maybe I dislike his choices." Mail offered. "How did this go from your obvious feelings for Matt and Mello to me and Nate?"
The white-haired boy tilted his head. "My feelings for Matt and Mello?"
"Yeah, that's painfully obvious though." Mail laughed. "I'm sure they're missing you too Near."
"It is obvious that Matt and Near are my friends?" Near inquired, looking completely confused.
"Well...how do you feel now that they're not here with you?" Mail asked.
The other boy was quiet for a moment, before he admitted, "I feel lonely."
Mail stopped at another light and turned to look at Near quietly.
"...They both miss you too." Mail assured. |
"I know that they do," Near informed, looking at the other. "It is only natural to miss someone when they are away."
"Especially when it's someone that means a lot to you." Mail nodded in agreement.
Near fell silent as he spotted the air port from out of the window.
...What were Mello and Matt up to, anyways? --Scene Change-- "There's no such thing as Kira," Nate breathed, slowly. "Shinigami do not exist. Notebooks don't kill people." |
"I hacked into L's laptop myself...it's all in there." Matt explained. "The Kira case is what he's working on right now at this very moment. He's in Japan, trying to corner Kira and take him down."
"L's biggest case yet." Mello nodded in confirmation. "Is that what your show's all about?" |
"Yes," Nate whispered, frowning deepy as he took a seat on the bed once more. "Its about Kira... and his struggle with L and later, Near and Mello..."
"Later with Near and Mels?" Matt frowned. "Does L call them in?"
Nate remained quiet, which was really an answer in itself.
Mello blinked and moved closer to Nate.
"Nate?" Mello pressed. Matt scooted his chair over to the bed. "It's just a show." Matt offered. "Right?" "Nate, why did L call us in?" Mello asked. |
"I really wish you'd stop asking me questions," Nate groaned, turning his face away from them. "Its just a show and it's not even accurate, okay? So no one says what happens in it has to be real. Besides, if it was, the time line's off already. You're already 15, right, Mello?"
"Why won't you tell me?" Mello frowned.
"Mello's going to be fifteen." Matt nodded. |
Nate's eyes went wide and he turned to look at the blonde. "I thought you already were!"
"Why is that so important!?" Mello demanded.
"I need to talk to L!" Nate replied, scrambling up and moving over to the computer. "Get a hold of him somehow!"
