Complex carbohydrates (long-chain starches like pasta and most rising breads) provide long-term energy support as well but they also take considerably longer to kick in than proteins.
Fats are somewhere between sugars and proteins. They're INCREDIBLY high in energy (over twice as much energy density -- that's why the body stores excess calories as fat) and it's not as quickly released as sugars. The body also prefers metabolizing fats over proteins, preferring to use proteins (in amino acid form) as cellular building blocks. It works best when balanced correctly with proteins, but fortunately most protein-rich snacks are also pretty high in fats. |
Coda, you're going to have to explain to me why you're not a teacher.
Ari - I actually don't know what I'm going to put them under as of yet. None of them are even completed yet... EDIT: Yes, just go with what Lucid said about the black mail :P |
Because my passion is writing code. ^^() I've actually considered teaching from time to time, but overall it doesn't sound like something I'd find to be a satisfying career choice.
I DO, on the other hand, tutor from time to time. |
Woah, Coda knows so much. owo
@Nexy: Ah, I see, I see. Well when they are out, could I get an autographed copy? >w>;; B-b-but, that's just Lucid! What about your dirt on everyone else!? >w< |
Coda actually had to look up some of that -- common wisdom says protein is longer-lasting energy than sugar, which is what I said, but when I looked it up I found that it's mostly the fats in the protein-rich snacks that does the trick; the protein mostly helps your body recover afterward.

*pokes Coda* Good information to know. Danke Coda!

I think you'd make a pretty good teacher, you teach us new things all the time, you also do it in a way people will understand. Ari - >w> Yep. Alpha - If they ever get out than yes. |
I've had people tell me that, but as a writer you surely understand having a drive to create something with your own skill. The same is true for me with software.
|
I can understand that Coda....
*curls up in thread* So....any random/interesting facts anyone wants to share? |
I do understand that, very well as a matter a fact. I've started six books now.
Alpha - What would you like to know? |

Nexy: Anything you care to share really....
Ashy: Now why do you need Coda's tutoring? |
