If the nail isn't too dug in, it's not too hard to dig it out with some tweezers and nail clippers. In fact, my dad did that for me a few times before we finally had to get it professionally removed.
|
Tweezers and nail clippers is exactly how I do it. I just try to keep them under control (which means digging them out every month or so) so I don't have to get surgery (because heck no I can't afford that).
|
I tend to keep the one I still have under control like that....except I use a pair of mini-scissors on my multi-tool plus the plies to make sure I can pull it out. It sucks, but feels much better afterwards.
|
Oh, that doesn't sound too bad if they're not that deep.
I wonder if the surgery would be covered by OHIP here in Ontario... :ninja: |
I've used a pair of needle-nose pliers before for when the nail is too tough for tweezers to get a good grip on. Yeah, it hurts, but it does feel better afterward.
|
Ari: It really isn't too bad as long as it isn't deep....even if it is deep, it can at least give a bit of relief so long as you can most of it out.
So how are the staffers today? Busy? |
Hm... Interesting. Very interesting stuff to know...

and ive had one nail get the sliver cut out, now i just cut out the ingrown toenail myself though same as coda |
i think that i should also add that just ripping the section off actually will make it grow back again, if you cut a little triangle around it you wont have any problems for a while. its one of the things my mum taught me from her nursing years :P
|
I cut it out and then pull it out. Works for a while....
|
Oh, do local anesthetics count as surgery too? Oh dear...
Had the toenail thing too. Freezing in toe, snip down toe with nasty scissors, yank offending piece out. In my case part of the nail had torn and was curled inward and proceeding to shred my toe as it grew. Now I just don't cut my nails so short anymore. Haven't had an issue since. My favourite colour is usually blue, to be simple about it. Usually a royal or dark blue. I tend to towards blues, greens, purples, and cool reds. Not terribly busy. Was up to staffy things yesterday, now it's school things. |
Quiet's so busy. owo
What sort of school stuff do you have to do? :0 |
Right now I'm reading on front, back, and body matter for printing books and manuals, along with binding. Later it's actual printing and colour systems, then I need to take text and images provided to me and make a manual out of them. It's a course on design for technical writing. I like this one so far. The next one is on indexing. Not really looking forward to that one. It starts in early November. Fortunately, my laptop has returned from being sent out for diagnostics and such so I hopefully have my good software back. The computer I'm using right now only has open office and paint, which aren't the best for my work right now.
|
Yay for Quiet then! She gets her good programs again.
So, I am a bit curious.....question for the staffers. Do you have a favorite video game (or series)? If so, what is it (are they)? |
