I never saw the movie. Rated X scares me. >.> but the book was awesome. I hear it's a lot less violent and vulgar because of the nadsat. I also hear the movie has a lot less of it. and the language is one of my favorite parts. the movie is also missing the final chapter. I feel like it's a flawed thing. so I stick to my book.

So I should go and look into the book then?

Lucid: 05-20-2011 09:28 PM

if you're interested in the story, sure.
I got my book today and it's a version that doesn't have the last chapter. ;~~~;

Airina 05-20-2011 09:31 PM

Awwwww sad day! Why doesn't it have the last chapter?

Lucid: 05-20-2011 09:42 PM

because the book is dark up until the last chapter where the kid turns his life around and decides that being a sick, violent punk isn't going to get him anywhere. he settles down and gets married. it's still a little bleak at the end when he realizes that his kids are probably going to turn out like he did as a teenager, but it's overall a happy ending.
American publishers didn't think that'd fly with American readers. (the book was written by an Englishman.) we're sick, messed-up folk who like dark and bleak endings. so they took out the last chapter. it was put back in later editions, but I couldn't tell which edition I was buying because it was used from Amazon. =/
it's still not a bad book without the final chapter, but I like it better with it. it feels more complete.

Ahhh makes sense. I hate it when publishers do things like that. Publishers are evil peoples sometimes... They make peoples change the titles or just tell you the book sucks, then other times they read and am like ummm the ending sucks you have to complete rewrite it. I still think its funny how many time JK Rowling got dissed by publishers because they thought her books would never be able to find an audience because they were too out there. Silly silly publishers. They are now probably kicking themselves in the butt because they didn't take her on as a client now that she is like one of the richest people in the UK. That would be crazy to write a book like that and then become ubberly famous. I can't decide if I'd like that or not..... I mean to have a book others read would be cool but to be famous... that sorta scares me.

Lucid: 05-20-2011 09:48 PM

being famous would be scary, but knowing that you were mostly-responsible for the literacy of an entire generation would be pretty cool. xD

Airina 05-20-2011 09:55 PM

That is very very true.... I hated those books when I first tried to read them

NikkoGallarado 05-21-2011 12:34 AM

I guess I will look for the book with the last ending in it. But then again anything from Eroupe is unhappy like all tg=he grim fairy tails.

Nanka 05-21-2011 12:44 AM
