It's picking up a lil bit now.

trystan830 07-18-2017 01:25 PM

woo hoo! yaay! =)

Panda 07-18-2017 01:45 PM

Congrats mirror for winning page 50 contest.

hyjin 07-18-2017 02:55 PM

Yes I'm glad things are picking back up again

tsukiko 07-18-2017 04:00 PM

i suppose it just goes with the time of the year too. some times are busier than others.

hyjin 07-18-2017 05:19 PM

possibly... usually summer time more people are free

Panda 07-18-2017 06:41 PM

I'm over here working 6 days a week.

XoGizmooX 07-18-2017 07:16 PM

Gizzie made homemade salsa - mango pineapple salsa

Death by Mirrors 07-18-2017 07:17 PM

Sweet, thank you very much, Panda ^^

Your salsa sounds delicious, Gizzie.

tsukiko 07-18-2017 07:50 PM

LOL! i feel ya, panda. no rest for the wicked...or the working class @_____@

trystan830 07-18-2017 08:25 PM

unless i request off, or there's a federal holiday in the week, i usually work 7 days a week.... but it's only 9-3 Mon-Thurs, 9-1 most fridays and saturdays, and then 3ish to 7:30 p.m. on sundays. so i'm home at night for the most part.

tsukiko 07-18-2017 09:34 PM

nice ^___^ i mostly work mornings too..5pm at the very latest.

trystan830 07-18-2017 09:36 PM

i'd really rather not have to work 7 days a week though....

tsukiko 07-18-2017 09:40 PM

nods. it sucks having to work work work work work....LOL! i know, speaking for me, my body doesn't like it and it takes a couple days of doing nothing to recover from long weeks :(

trystan830 07-18-2017 09:46 PM

oh i hear you there, too! friday, saturday and sunday i work in retail at a register. even though it's only 4 hours, my legs are sore until the next day. *sigh*

tsukiko 07-18-2017 09:52 PM

ugh! no bueno! i think i actually prefer cashier at my job *i do it one or two times a week* except the whole donation thing. i have to ask everyone if they want to donate a $1 to whatever thing we're raising money for that week. i'd rather just whip through the line and get it done. xD

trystan830 07-18-2017 10:53 PM

i cashier at michael's... which i blame for me learning to crochet. XD

tsukiko 07-18-2017 11:03 PM

ROFL! i used to be a stocker/recovery person at a place in cali called beverly's. very similar to michaels but with a fabric dept. towards the end, i was helping cut and fix up that dept, so i blame that on my skills of sewing xD

that was many many years ago. now i'm a stocker/part time cashier at one of the local dollar trees.

trystan830 07-18-2017 11:08 PM

my mom taught me to sew when i was in middle school. and then shortly after i finished college and got married, i worked at a local fabric store called Cloth World. but about a month or so after i started working there, they were bought by JoAnn's! (we bristled at all the craft stuff... we were a fabric store, not crafts!!

tsukiko 07-18-2017 11:16 PM

bwahahahhaaa! i liked working the fabric counter. the other ladies were super nice and helpful ^__^

i knew how to basic sew, but never worked off a pattern before or did alterations @___@ a few years back, i managed to make a lolita-style dress i saw online *front and back photos* from like 4 different patterns i had. came out nearly perfect too. i changed the tight sleeves to kimono-style sleeves, that was pretty much the only major differences between the one online and mine. that and it was MY size not some 00 size for the pretty asian girls that get to wear the pretty lolita fashions xD *jealous much of them? why yes, yes i am T_T *

trystan830 07-18-2017 11:21 PM

i got a little more pay at Cloth World than some of the other employees because i did have sewing experience.

i don't even know when i started tweaking sewing patterns, but i've mixed and matched sleeves; tops and bottoms of shirts and skirts/pants; tweaked dresses to make five different looking ones from the same pattern.... and that carried over to my crocheting too!

tsukiko 07-18-2017 11:23 PM

NICE! i can't crochet to save my life, but i can knit a little. they say it's very similar, but it's too complex for my brain to handle D:

trystan830 07-19-2017 12:04 AM

thanks!

i can 'knit' - that is to say there's a crochet technique called Tunisian crochet, which has a knit stitch. i made a cardigan that looks like it was knitted..... but it was made with this crochet technique. XD

tsukiko 07-19-2017 01:12 AM

XD i'd love to see a photo of the cardigan. sounds interesting...

Panda 07-19-2017 01:14 AM

Last page winner is Tsukiko with number 15. Congrats again.

And page 54 is Gizmo! Woohoo with lucky post number 1.

trystan830 07-19-2017 01:26 AM

congrats!!

tsukiko, this is the best pic of all of them that you can see the stitches on; this is the project page with all the pics

tsukiko 07-19-2017 02:05 AM

LOL! panda, i'll take #17

and trystan, wow! that is really awesome and amazing looking. :D the time it took too @___@ *mind blown*

trystan830 07-19-2017 10:38 AM

thanks!!

there were a few reasons it took as long as it did: thin yarn, despite the large hook; sometimes it was kinda unwieldy and didn't make for a good traveling project; it was the project that when something else came up, it got put aside every time; and since it's made to the gauge/size of me, i had to stop many times and try it on. but i was determined to finish it in less than a year. XD

XoGizmooX 07-19-2017 01:34 PM

#6 please

Panda 07-19-2017 03:11 PM
