"Yeah... I'm glad we come out here," said Randy.
Little Randy leaned back into Randy VIII's chest, "Can we go again next year daddy?"
"You bet, sugar." He kissed her head and held her in his arms, feeling more content than he had all day.
She snuggled into him, "I love you Daddy,"
Randy VIII grinned. "I love you, too, punkin."
....
As the weather grew warm Lily decided that a beach trip was in order, she had Kelly help her pack some things and they headed to the shore together, "It's nice to do things like this together, she commented," |
Kelly smiled. "Yeah..." It had been a long time since he'd gone to the beach. He'd never enjoyed it much, but as long as he was with Lily, it wasn't so bad.
She took his clawed hand in hers and hummed cheerfully as she lead him to a spot on the sand.
Kelly walked alongside her, cast in shadows with his hair floating behind him. A few families scurried to pack their children and towels and find somewhere far away to sit.
"It's so nice and sunny out!" Lily said as she gave a stretch, "I could use more days like this!"
Kelly curled his lip. "I'm not the biggest fan. It's not as bad now that I got my shadows, though."
Lily kissed his cheek, "Well I think you look sexy in your bathing suit," she said.
Kelly snorted. "Yer full of it," he said, though he smiled and gave her a peck on the lips.
She wiggled against him, "Well you look good to me if nothing else!"
He grinned and ran his claws gently through her hair. "You always look good to me," he replied. "You just keep gettin' pertier."
She gave him a kiss, "Don't I know it!"
He chuckled softly and attempted to get comfortable on the towel, hair floating and curling all about as he avoided lying on it or allowing it to touch the sand.
Lily snuggled up next to him, "You know...I think this is the first time we had so much beach space to ourselves," she commented.
"I like it that way," said Kelly. "Nice an' quiet, no Frisbees in my face."
As he said this a bright pink Frisbee sailed over the sand and landed on his face.
Kelly took a moment to appreciate the irony, rapping his claws against the sand in irritation before picking up the disc. "Very funny," he grumbled, throwing a glance up at the sky.
A tall blond high school girl came bouncing up to them, "Hey! Like, can I have my Frisbee back?" she asked as she chewed on her pinky nail.
Kelly held up the Frisbee to show it to her, then with a flick of his claws it vanished into blackness as he fixed the girl with an emotionless stare.
The girl blinked at him then scowled, "Hey douche! That was my Frisbee! You didn't have to be an asshole!"
"I can do the same thing to you," Kelly stated as a simple matter of fact.
"Uh, that's illegal and you'll, like, go to jail," the girl drawled peevishly.
That statement caused him to crack a smile. "Why would I be afraid of jail?"
Lily put a hand on Kelly's shoulder, "Just let it go and give the girl back her Frisbee," she said.
Kelly sighed softly and the girl vanished, only to reappear in the shadow of someone else's umbrella much farther down the beach, Frisbee in hand.
The girl looked bewildered but upon seeing that she was alive she ran away from the beach as fast as she could. Lily petted Kelly's hair, "Thank you, dear,"
A lock of the hair curled around her waist and pulled her in closer to Kelly.
Lily giggled and kissed him, "You're sweet,"
He smiled, rubbing his long nose against hers. "Couldn't be anything else fer you," he said before returning her kiss.
"Weel, if it isna wee Kelly Johnson come oot inta tha sunshine fer once," chuckled father Erickson as he passed the two.
Kelly grinned at him. "Don't get used to it," he said.
Erickson laughed and tossed the pair a peppermint each.
Kelly eyed the candy fondly for a second before closing his hand over it so that it disappeared into his unseen shadows. There, it reappeared before Lillian as a sort of present for her.
From within the shadows Lillian thanked him and popped the candy into her mouth.
Lily ate her mint, "He's a sweet old man," she said. |
Kelly nodded. "Always was good to me..."
"The world could do with a few more of his kind," said Lily.
