For the record, Potassium feels someone threading a steel rod up through your arm and into your heart. :|

Lawtan 11-22-2013 11:19 PM

Hmm...
Thank you for the information...I don't know how I could explain that in a combat situation...but I'll try to keep that in mind.
I think I had one when I was a kid - had to stay overnight with what felt like a giant tube in my arm. I was afraid to move my arm.

Gallagher 11-22-2013 11:23 PM

Do remember that if you can't say it all nicely in a post, you can get it all set up and tell us what you're going for in here. It's no biggie to carry you through with difficult parts.

I had one have its needle break off in my hand when I was a little brat, which is why the initial just-in-case spoilers. Hella bad fearz.

Lawtan 11-22-2013 11:30 PM

Eeeek!
That's why I hate those things IRL. Second only to the blood sugar pricking. (I'm sorry, I don't like the spring-trigger mechanism.)

Quiet Man Cometh 11-22-2013 11:56 PM

One thing to keep in mind is that a lot of these actions are happening simultaneously, so things are probably happening faster than it might appear given the posting speed (I used to play DnD by message board and it could take a month to role play a few minutes of "game time"). It probably only takes a few seconds to cross the room we are in at a walk, (if I have the sizing right) so it certainly would only take a few moments for the snakes to attack and the fight to break out. Unless the venom is going to kill her immediately, Kadia probably has some time for the fight to resolve before she gets the kit out, especially if she's already resistant to the venom.

And as Galla said, if there's something you would like to do, but aren't sure how, or you are at a loss for something to do, then ask here. :)

One thing I might mention, which I've seen a fair bit in role play and group writing (getting a little critiquey here ;)) is don't be afraid to let things go on for a post or two, or more. There's no need to resolve every problem that comes up in the very next post. It's alright to take your time, especially if the "boss" or problem is a tough one.

Espy 11-23-2013 12:02 AM

Speaking of which, Dante is unconscious. What you all feel like doing to him is up to you guys; just don't do any /permanent damage/.

Lawtan 11-23-2013 12:06 AM

Yay! Dante piggyback!
(Had asked earlier if Rurik could carry Dante over to where Kadia/Thomas were.)
Also, how would Thomas react to Kadia knocking a few snakes out of his way?

...I guess I'm lucky I had mine through my chest line then, or they through pills and liquids at me.

For the record, potassium pills are about the size of your thumb, the orange drink that fizzes (and is apparently used as a hangover cure in Ireland, so said one nurse) tastes like chemically orange pop, and the elixir tastes like bad vodka and burns your lips.

Espy 11-23-2013 12:22 AM

Potassium pills apparently are the most bitter things ever, according to my mom.

Had it all. Vomitous.

And Lawtan, I don't see any problem with Rurik doing that, but I figured most of the snakes were dead by this point. 100 isn't actually all that many to split among all of us, especially with the soldiers, that's, what 13 of us splitting 7.692 snakes each. :P

(I probably should have done more, but I didn't want it to be totally overwhelming to the point Thomas would just torch the entire room.)

Anyway, on one hand, she stayed to "clean up her mess" with the snakes so to speak, so he might cut her a bit of slack for causing it in the first place. She might not want to push his patience, though.

If you want to post though, I don't have anything in mind, so go ahead. Could use something to work with. Someone should probably suggest we move on, though. (Diogenes will at some point have a private barb for him about his stunning leadership abilities.)

Also, I would kind of love it if we *just* didn't get to Dante in time and Thomas had to pull his soul screaming back from the ether into his body. :P

Not my decision, though.

Not true. Flagyl. Yeshua Christo Domini Omnipotentis Elohim Sabaoth, those things touch my tongue >> instead vomit.

Lawtan 11-23-2013 12:31 AM

...I think I can do that...if Espy's okay with it. (Kadia & Rurik try to save him, but the vemon is running too strongly...Thomas saving him would earn some of Kadia's respect as well)

Suzerain of Sheol 11-23-2013 12:33 AM

And it's so much fun to make Dante squirm. :D

Lawtan 11-23-2013 12:37 AM

Kadia:But...I get along with Dante...

Suzerain of Sheol 11-23-2013 12:39 AM

So did Shealtiel, and NO ONE enjoyed watching him squirm more. :P

Espy 11-23-2013 12:46 AM

I...wouldn't mind either way?

...Fuck you all. Fuck you all to the depths of hell.

Quiet Man Cometh 11-23-2013 12:59 AM

I take Slow K now. Gel caps. No taste :). (And a good pill trick, if you can manage it, is to put water in your mouth first and float the pill so it doesn't actually hit your tongue. That's how I manage prednisone.)

There is a reason we aren't seeing Dara in this role play. She probably would have entered a twitchy fugue state by now.

Umm...Dante...we're already in hell...

Lawtan 11-23-2013 01:16 PM

Some of Rurik's Processes - I am adding a 101st snake, because it makes more sense for taking out Dante (to me). Also would explain why Dante get so few snakes - the "pack leader" went after him.

[Snake.colors == {33000, fffaa; 04400, ffaac}

The few symptoms of having been bitten are: The facial muscles get tight in one to two hours, the patient may be unable to talk or see, and, if left untreated, the patient may die from respiratory paralysis within four to five hours. A clinical toxicology study gives an untreated mortality rate of 70-80%.
That actually sounds less dangerous than the rest. Certainly not enough to kill him before Thomas gets over, I would think.

Lawtan 11-23-2013 01:49 PM

Hmm...maybe another one, then.
Found a venom forum. That should help.

Suzerain of Sheol 11-23-2013 01:52 PM

You could always just make it some kind of... hell-snake-thing. :P

Malbogian adders!

Lawtan 11-23-2013 01:58 PM

...
*goes against the idea of research it*
Also, I apparently don't know as much about venom/snakes as I thought.
Apparently, there are two different venoms for the "false horned viper" you posted (two subcategories of snake - one is neurotoxic and hemorrhagic, the other just hemorrhagic.)

Suzerain of Sheol 11-23-2013 02:00 PM

Don't bother, I made it up. :P

Malbolge is one of the circles of Hell. ;)

(can't remember if it's actually the one with the snakes or not.)

Lawtan 11-23-2013 02:03 PM

(Was referring to a post a while back)
Naja haje would kill Dante in 10 minutes, but he may not feel it, so...
(I may wind up mixing the two - no telltale cobra hood features)

Espy 11-23-2013 02:20 PM

I don't really like where this --

I LOVE WHERE THIS CONVERSATION IS GOING.

To be honest, I didn't do any research on the toxins. I usually do, because reading about that stuff is fun. (Did this a couple years back to figure out which toxins Dante carried around as an augment for his knife, and then because I played as a poison-manipulating gang leader and I didn't want him to poison himself.)

TTX is best poison.

Lawtan 11-23-2013 03:02 PM

Well, these are venoms...a mixture of enzymes that cause certain reactions in the body to accelerate in ways that kill people.
*May need help understanding from the person who recently took chemistry...*
And...most likely everyone already knows that...
What makes TTX the best?
By the way, the fastest "death by venom" ranges 15 minutes to 3 hours...
Hell-snakishness may be needed.

Suzerain of Sheol 11-23-2013 03:23 PM

I failed chemistry... 9 years ago (Jesus how has it been that long?). Don't look at me. :P

Gallagher 11-23-2013 03:31 PM

Hell snakes def needed. Just take the symptoms, and amp them up, that usually covers it.

Lawtan 11-23-2013 04:40 PM

I may not need to up the venom effects, unless we want Dante to be permanently damaged, but the time has been upped.
Devil's Mamba.
Also, Espy, feel free to write a "Dante Hallucinates when he wakes up" scene - it's an effect of the venom.

Gallagher 11-23-2013 05:35 PM

If we let Dante be killed for a bit, then the damage to his body can be fully repaired before he enters it. Spiritual magic healing can do things that proper medicine can't. Like how Thomas completely obliterated Bugeye's organs, and then fixed him up again.

"permanently damaged" is not going to happen from snake venom.

Suzerain of Sheol 11-23-2013 05:45 PM

Unless it's HELL VENOM (tm), in which case there might be some issues, cause Thomas isn't all that good a healer, and soul healing takes a delicate touch. (That's where you'll get permanent damage)

Gallagher 11-23-2013 05:51 PM

Nah, for it to be hell venom, the snakes would have had to either have 1. the ability to talk, aka use their silver forked tongues to lure you into sin, 2. wings, because duh hell snakes, 3. be at least 4.72x larger than these ones, again because duh, 4. literally have been on fire this entire time and we just never noticed, i will admit most possible but, or 5. be purple.

Lawtan 11-23-2013 05:52 PM

Nope. Just super-dead-fuck-abnormally quick-venom

Critique?

Espy 11-23-2013 05:53 PM

So. Going ti attempt to phone-type with half frozen fingers.

Hallucinations of the visual kind will not affect him. Auditory, yes.

I meant permanent dmg as in from healing, not the venom. Unless it has a way of eroding bone and tissue in irreparable ways, which shouldn't be a thing. But I can always have him slightly incapped until Gall's healer boy comes into play.

EDIT: Dante is slightly peeved that Kadia called him a drunkard. Also, she would have no way of knowing that anyhow.

Lawtan 11-23-2013 05:55 PM

He'll have scars, but they shouldn't be inhibiting.

Gallagher 11-23-2013 05:55 PM

Healerbro will be able to heal Dante's vision, too, so dealing with venom cripple wouldn't be too long lasting, if you want to go that route.

Will pick through your thing in a sec Law.

Also, Healerbro can remove scars.

Espy 11-23-2013 05:57 PM

At this point, I'm not sure if I want him to regain his vision. It should 't be hard to fix -- it's just a matter of repairing burn damage.

Actually, there's also the point of dead optical cells and the decayt hat comes woth that.

Gallagher 11-23-2013 06:00 PM

Just... just trust me on this. I have given it a lot of thought to figure out if he could, and he can. And he will likely offer. This is your warning so you can come up with some bullshit excuse to keep putting it off.

So, speaking as someone who's be defibrillated, that's not how it works. It's used to shock the heart back into a normal rhythm, not to restart one that has ceased beating entirely.

However, you CAN leave this in if she really wouldn't know that, and Thomas will explain to her why she's not doing Dante any good. :P
