He froze instantly for a few moments and just stared into the darkness, before he suddenly dropped to the ground.

Linda shot forward instantly and checked him over, before letting out a sigh of relief. "He just fainted."

"It could have been worse," Naveen admitted as he poked his head out of the closet.

"...Oh, Jesus Christ!" Mello snapped angrily.

--Scene Break--

"We're going right to K." Far assured Zero and the twins in the backseat of the car.

His driving was fast and a bit reckless as they made for the hospital.

"Who is K?" Trick asked him. "Is that the pretty lady?"

"That's a matter of opinion." Far murmured before relenting, "Yeah, that's her."

Treat was still holding Zero's hand tightly as they bounced around in the back.

"One of the doctor people said she knew L," Trick told his brother in a quiet voice.

"Does she know Far and Zero?" Treat asked worriedly.

Trick looked up at Zero, who only frowned at him. He then looked toward Far. "Do you know K, Papa?"

"Of course I know K." Far nodded. "She's our resident doctor...even trained up Oliver a little. She's seen almost all of us at some point."

"How come we've never heard of her?" Trick asked, leaning against Zero gently.

"You must've met her at the hospital." Far offered before he blinked. "...Trick...what did you call me?"

"Well we met her, yeah, but we hadn't heard of her before today," Trick pointed out, looking at Zero.

"Well, she's the one that's been treating Mello, Near and Zero." Far said reassuringly.

"Yeah, but we didn't meet her before!" Trick whined. "Where was she a few months ago before we knew you and daddy?"

Zero looked at Trick in surprise, before glancing at Treat.

"There it is again, I know I heard it this time." Far smiled a little. "I'm a dad now? Wow...that's...that's..."

Far looked back at Zero.

"So what if we didn't 'meet' her...you don't even like doctors, Trick!" Treat told his brother.

"But she knew L~!" Trick whined. "We never got to meet him, either!"

"He... was dead... when you entered wammies..." Zero barely managed, his voice cracking painfully.

"You only just missed him Trick." Far told the little boy. "I'm sorry...you were one of the handpicked ones."

"By L?" Treat blinked.

"...We were?" Trick whispered in surprise, looking toward his brother.

"Watari," Zero breathed. "Watari picked... you..."

"Before he and L died." Far nodded. "They wanted you boys here."

"Why?" Treat asked.

Zero shook his head to show that he didn't know, though Trick didn't really expect him to. His memories were coming back, but slowly.

"Well, Zero and I are training you guys now." Far offered. "Well...I'm just helping take care of you and Zero's teaching you two."

"So we can pretend to be other people." Treat nodded.

Zero frowned, looking at Far as if he'd been slapped. "I want them to... to be them..."

"But... you're supposed to teach us, daddy," Trick said, frowning. "Its why you're staying at Wammy's!"

"Because, you wanted to give up the life and stay with me after the last case." Far sighed. "The only choice they gave you was working as a teacher."

Zero frowned a bit... none of this sounded familiar, but if all these people were saying it then it had to be true, right?

Why would they all be lying... and how could they all do it so consistently?

"...Zero...do you not want to teach them?" Far asked- turning to look at the Asian boy. "You don't have to...I'd understand if you didn't want to."

"I don't... remember," Zero informed, shaking his head.

"That scary man with the red eyes made his memories all weird," Trick told Far, frowning.

"I know." Far said and there was an edge to his voice. "I won't let him hurt anyone ever again."

"He tied up me and Trick." Treat added. "Touched us and tied us up...and made us watching him and Near!"

Zero turned to look at Treat. "Watch... him and Near...?"

Treat nodded and shuddered.

"He was all over us and then he was in the bed with Near." Treat told the Asian boy.

"Oh god!" Zero croaked, before he winced in pain. "Mello is going to kill someone!"

"Mello was in the hospital with Near." Far offered.

"Mello showed up after Matt and Next saved us." Treat offered.

"Mello didn't completely blow up?" Zero wheezed.

"You are talking a lot, considering K said you'd never talk again," Trick hummed.

"I'm glad, I hope that doesn't stop." Treat told his brother.

"Mello got back after and didn't know where B was...none of us do, K won't tell us." Far frowned. "They don't trust us not to kill him now that he's in a coma."

Zero squeezed Treat's hand a little tighter and looked out the window.

"There's the hospital." Far announced. "Zero, are you gonna be alright? I know this thing is upsetting you. The boys- our boys are fine and BB's not gonna hurt anyone."

"I'll be... okay," Zero sighed. "I will..."

'I have to be...' he thought to himself.

--Scene change!--

"I think he's coming to!" Next cried as Near started to regain consciousness. "Near, can you hear me?"

"Of course he can, you're shouting." Mello mumbled. "Near, come on back."

"I... must have been more tired then I thought..." Near mumbled as he started to sit up. "I could have sworn that I saw..."

"Don't scream or pass out again." Matt pleaded as he stepped aside to reveal Naveen.

"He didn't scream last time," Next reminded his boyfriend, only to wince as Near let out a rather loud scream.

"I see his lungs still work," Naveen offered while his twin stared at him in shock.

"Let's hope his heart keeps working." Mello frowned at Naveen.
