Right now its looking like it might turn out okay. I'm letting it air dry because I'm not sure that applying heat would be a good idea at all.

So far its looking like its stained darkly... but evenly. So maybe when it dries, if it doesn't return to its original color, it'll just be an even, darker blue than it was before. One can only hope.

Well, if the stain can't be removed, then making the WHOLE thing darker and the same shade would be the best thing.
