I always wanted to try playing that game but I had a hard time following the anime... I still don't understand it... Are the ones with the artifacts hackers or something or are they programs that think they are players or players who get stuck in the game > .<

the anime.. The character Tsukasa, her conciousness got stuck in the game. her body was in a coma but her counciousness was stuck in the game and she couldnt log out (her character in game is a boy)

in the game people just go into a coma.. no one is stuck 'in game'

the game explains most of what happens in the anime.

But whats with the artifacts? I remember the bracelet ... Not sure about the other 2 .hack shows...

Macha the cat thing from .Hack//Sign is 'reincarnated' into the character Mia in the games

The Braclet from the game shows up in the manga/anime ".Hack//Legend of the Twiligh (Bracelet)" *bracelet was removed from the title* in that anime someone won a contest and got the legendary Kite and BlackRose avatars.. cause they were the ones from the original 4 games that saved "The World" with Kites avatar came the bracelet :3
