...Is that just physical sickness, or could it wreck the mental state as well?
|
Just physical, I'd say. Probably a combination of skin rash and muscle problems (for contact, obviously).
Though, maybe it could cause hallucinations about even purified water being contaminated...? That might be kind of interesting. |
Indeed. I sped things up a bit because I wouldn't like to stay in corinth long.
|
I was gonna say, because in the non-biblical world, wormwood actually has healing properties as tea and such... it's only the essential oil that'll eventually kill you. Maybe being an ingredient in absinthe gave it the deadly stigma.
|
I honestly find the whole passage kind of stupid, but... hey it's in the source material, and poisonous water fits the setting.
And, you know, far be it from me to question the metaphors of the Word of God.... :p |
*headdesks with laughter* Very nice reference, Suzerain!
|
Damn mouse...It's so hard to click.
Anyways, what's Wormwood again? I forgot. |
Short post, because, I, unlike Dante, don't actually know my drinks >.> Shh.
|
Wormwood, in the Book of Revelation, is a "star" that falls into the ocean and makes 1/3 of the earth's water undrinkable. It's actually a metaphor for "times of strife" layered over itself about three times.
In the RP, just assume it's some kind of element in the water, not radioactive, just highly poisonous. How did it get there? The same way the sun no looks like a pie-piece. Edit: Suzerain knows less about drinks than Espy. :p |
-points out the fact that Suze is older than her and wouldn't seem strange reading up on drinks-
|
Well, it actually would seem strange, since I'm pretty vocal about not drinking, but... then again, I don't use a shared computer. On the other hand, I wouldn't even know what to look for. "Post-apocalyptic Drinks" was a rather disappointing Google search. :p
Regardless, though, Dante asked Fee and Jeanne to order. If neither of them know what to do, either, we can probably just fast-forward past the issue. :p |
Oh, huh, I need to pick something specific? >>
|
In my (two) visits to a drinking establishment, I've found that Long Island Iced Teas are pretty good. Not they're strong without any warning, so watch out. There's a potent mix of stuff without the flavor to indicate it. You can be on your third one by the time the alcohol hits you. And third is where I stayed, and I will probably never drink that again.
|
Aw, nobody wants Rue and Lev back... xD
Also, if there's still potatoes or any kind of starchy vegetable in the apocalypse, I'm sure vodka will still be a choice. |
Jeanne's knowledge of alcohol is limited to wine, but I guess she's up for trying new things. xD
Sorry for being really absent lately, you guys. |
Don't worry about. You came in time, actually. I just set up a post for you. =D
|
Why, thank you. :D
|
all right. Player interaction mode. >:O
|
Aaaaaaaand I got distracted by Yu Yu Hakusho. Darn the KoC for bringing it up. -rage-
And I've managed to wasted maybe three hours on it. EDIT: And there goes another reason I dislike drinking: It. Burns. Like. Hell. |
Not unless you drink it right. >D
|
But I gag on alcohol in the first place.
|
Try a Long Island Iced Tea. It's a strong concoction, but not a strong taste. It's easy to drink. In fact, you're supposed to drink them very slowly, but the lack of a 'strong' taste makes you think that you're some punk that can knock back drinks, so you put back three in less than an hour. You then proceed to do terribly at shuffleboard, and begin to panic because you suspect that your eyes are bleeding. I am not speaking from personal experience at all.
|
I don't drink at all...and I'm not even sure if mead is what I remember it to be anyways :p
|
Somewhere, I've heard a dwarven character saying that someone can't hold their mead. So I don't see why not. And we're roleplaying in a world where both God and the Devil are dead, and the minions of both roam the earth while telekenetics and blind motorcycle riding bounty hunters team up for shenanigans. I doubt we'll grind your bones over mead not being a realistic drink.
Now, I do find that White Zinfandel goes great as a symbol of the apocalypse, if you were looking to drink in theme. Cheap stuff gets more bitter the longer it goes on. And honestly, you're good not to drink. I've done it twice, and honestly the drinks were an excuse for socialization...and to use the bar's shuffleboard table. |
If I were to ever drink, it would be at HOME...or someone else's home...with people I love and trust so if I did something strange I wouldn't have to feel bad XP
|
That was my first experience. I discovered that you can't drink $2 gin straight. Or most of the other things I bought. And I can barely make buttered popcorn, so me mixing drinks was out of the question. Which led to the bar experience. Again, among friends I trust. Didn't even bring my keys. But I sure as hell brought my shuffleboard game. Me old dad used to (sadly) take me to a bar a lot when I was a kid, so I developed a real knack for some shuffleboarding. Turns out though that alcohol can really destroy your shuffleboard skills.
|
Salone, that description of this setting was indescribably awesome.
Oh, and, everyone, I won't be around much tomorrow. Puppet Shealtiel along if need be. |
I hear that alcohol can destroy some skills while building others.
And yeaaaaa, don't drink gin straight D: I think the only alcohol that you can consume straight is wine, which is probably why it costs so much more. |
I'd say you were wrong, but a $4 bottle of wine is not a good example. Maybe I should give the thing 30 years or so. That's how wine works, right? Doesn't seem like you could really profit off of wine, if you have to let it sit for freaking ever before it's worth anything or tastes nice.
|
The rule is, generally, not to drink hard liquor without a chaser. Cranberry juice does it the best for me. One of the most simple and yummy drinks to make is a screwdriver, which is one shot of vodka mixed with a glass of orange juice (and by the way, anything taken below the brim of a shot glass automatically makes you a pussy drinker =P). Drinks are generally made by mixing soda or juice with one or two shots of liquor - with exceptions like, say, the long island iced tea, which has vodka, rum, tequila, and at least two more that I can't quite remember. Those are famous for being delicious while simultaneously knocking you on your ass.
...Sorry, the Irish part of me had to show off my knowledge of drinking. |
Well, I did forget about beer. But beer smells nasty. Never tasted any so I can't comment on that. And I guess there's ale, and lagers... Why do I know so much about alcohol when I don't drink it is beyond me XD
And I don't know...maybe it's because they've been around a while and had good starting capital? Wine is serious business in France. |
-raises an eyebrow-
Riiiiiiight. I'm out of this convo XD (Being the person that started it...it's a bit hypocritical.) |
I just noticed Suze's last post. (how'd I miss that...) Dante's personality, sadly enough, is just mine made a tiny bit more extreme, haaaah....
|
As long as you're not blind while riding a motorcycle with handguns, I think we'll still love you.

-totally didn't disregard the entire talk of drinks. not. at. all. XDD- |
On my mother's side, Funk,
And the story kind of feels like it's at a standstill... =/ |
Yeah. Things have slowed down. I vote the two that no one likes meets up with everyone else that doesn't like them. So shenanigans can ensue.
|
Hmph... I suppose... Even though no one likes them. ;-;
|
Well, Fee kind of likes Lev, or at least wants to find out why she senses so much pain from him >.>;
|
He gets hurt a lot. With bullets, or sharp implements. Could also be whatever is eating away at his mental health. Still not sure what I want to do with that.
