i'm trying to knock out as much of it as possible so i can dedicate a few days to nothing but writing and baby care

Do it Glitch! Every word that you write is more than you would have. :)
Writing could be a nice break from pixeling too.

And if you haven't tried children's writing before it'll be something new to try! Or if you have, something like a fairy tale or fable, a form you haven't written before!

If you want a class on how to write children's books - Coursera offers one. You can audit it for free. I did and it was a helpful class - Writing for Young Readers.

But since that starts at the end of November - try your hand at it first and then use the class to help you edit it. ;)
