I could. It's screwed shut, and I have the tools to open it. The main problem is that if I shake the vent too roughly, the chopstick might fall all the way down.

And that wouldn't be good.

I once dropped a thermometer into a similar vent. I /think/ I got it out by using a paper clip fishing hook.

YESSSSSS my roommate finally responded. That...took too long XD And yes, Kent, I'm on the second floor, and I -think- the vent goes all the way down, by the looks of it. I'm not too worried about losing the chopstick, actually; I'm more concerned about the smell that might waft out from the vents if an unwashed chopstick gets stuck in there.
