My neighborhood area doesn't do trick or treating for some reason. xC
So I haven't dressed up in over 3 years. <:( Not even to give out candy...
Sadly, I can't afford a full costume, so I just find things to throw together. My last costume like this was a demon. All I had to do was buy the horns and paint my face a bit. :D
But sadly, a few people didn't get it since I had no wings or a tail...>-> One kid said I was a goat. I don't think I make a very good demon. <x}

Ava 07-29-2020 12:45 AM

We used to have loads and loads of trick or treaters in my neighborhood when I was a kid. They used to give out huge handfuls of candy at each house! And there would be loads of kids in the streets getting candy. It was so much fun!

I usually go to comic con for Halloween, but this year they changed the date of the comic con so it's not on Halloween weekend anymore. >:T
My sewing machine and I got into a fight, so I want to make a costume thats a bit more simple and requires less sewing.

I'll be glad to give you a hint;

Merskelly Metalien 09-07-2020 02:58 PM

._. I'm bad with hints. My best guess is Mrs. Bipolar Broom performing live in the Cupboard Club after she murdered her husband Charlie Mop, and his lover, her sister, Bridget Broom in quite the scandal!
<x} But I know the picture is of ssssomebody kinda famous, I just don't know who.

Ava 09-08-2020 04:32 PM

You get an A for effort and creativity, Merskelly. <3

It's Sia. c:

I decided to go for something fun and easy because I am still mad at my sewing machine. =_=

Merskelly Metalien 09-08-2020 06:40 PM

Sia, huh? :/ Pronounced "See ya"? B] Ironic. No eyes. Can't see ya. xD
Thank you!

<x] I don't expect Halloween to really happen, at least where I am at, <:/ but I guess I get to watch some of my favorite scary movies again...

The Shining,
The Thing,
The Mummy,
Alien Vs. Predator,
House on Haunted Hill,
Shaun of the Dead,
Doctor Sleep,
Dracula (1931),
Psycho,
Jaws,
Pet Semetary,
Creepshow,
and of course my favorite,
eWe
Creature from the Black Lagoon.

Merskelly Metalien 09-09-2020 09:24 PM

<x] Oh!
I forgot about the fun Halloween movies too! Haha!

Ghostbusters
Young Frankenstein
The Addams Family
Nightmare Before Christmas
Corpse Bride
Coraline
Paranorman
Abbot and Costello meet Frankenstein
Hotel Transylvania
The Haunted Mansion
Mickey's House of Villains
Old Scooby-Doo Episodes

trystan830 09-09-2020 10:08 PM

we watch Nightmare before Xmas on Xmas Eve! :)

Merskelly Metalien 09-09-2020 10:24 PM

I watch it on both! >:D Just to spite my family. xD "You already watched this!"
I don't care I want to sing along! >XD

Also-! *gasp!* 8D You watching the Twilight Zone! Yay!

trystan830 09-09-2020 10:50 PM

i love singing with Nightmare before Xmas!

i'm actually currently watching the original twilight zone, and it's slow going because i'm in s4, and i need to watch them on my computer.....the same computer i play on trisphee and my other forums on, so.... yeah. XD

Merskelly Metalien 09-09-2020 11:03 PM

BD
The Original Twilight Zone is in my honest opinion, The ONLY Twilight Zone.~
Oh yeah, Season 4 is much slower with the episodes being pretty much an hour long.
:/ But it's not to say there aren't some gems in the 4th season I find particularly commending.

What episode are you on? :D

trystan830 09-09-2020 11:08 PM

true true. i'm early, only episode 4, "He's Alive." the last one i watched was the one where the reporter and his dog stumble into the small town, and they have to keep him there because he knows all their secrets.

Merskelly Metalien 09-09-2020 11:20 PM

:D In the Shadow of the Valley is an interesting one in regards to future technology, but it was one of the more weaker episodes I think. :/

He's Alive is one of the stronger episodes. 8( In fact, it still sorta baffles me that it aired when it did! <:) Lemme know how you like it. I feel like it really still holds up today, and is as of current times, possibly quite relevant still. O-O

trystan830 09-09-2020 11:46 PM

i will certainly let you know what i think after i watch He's Alive. :)

Merskelly Metalien 09-14-2020 12:40 AM

How did you like the episode?
:)
It's kind of a sad one, but it's got a pretty strong message. <:c

Espy 09-14-2020 05:09 AM

-drifts through-

Merskelly Metalien 09-14-2020 12:02 PM

Hey there Espy.
:o *waves*

trystan830 09-14-2020 12:48 PM

merskelly - i haven't gotten to it yet.

here's the thing - as i said above, i need to watch them on my computer.....the same computer i play on trisphee and my other forums on. also, hubby has been off for a few weekdays - he has personal and vacation days he has to use by the end of the year or he loses them - and generally he's got something on the tv in the same room i'm in. sure, i could use my headphones and watch the episode, but then we're doing our own thing in our own little worlds in the same room. i'm trying not to do that, and because of his personality it would be such an easy rabbit hole to fall down into - each of us doing our own thing and never really talking to each other.

so - when we're in the same room, i don't use my headphones, and whether he cares or notices, i share with him whatever he's watching.

so maybe one day this week i'll be able to find some time to get the episode watched. i still have a show on my DVR that i want to watch before wednesday, when the next ep airs.

(and now you now more about my marriage than most people online do!) XD

edit: it's now about 10 hours after I've posted this, and I've watched He's Alive. and... i knew who it was the first time i saw the shadowy guy talking to Dennis Hopper's character (Vollmer) - but yes, it's quite relevant still. *sigh*

Merskelly Metalien 09-15-2020 07:42 PM

Lol it's okay! <x}
It's good you spend time with your husband! :)
I know my family hardly spends any time together with me nowadays, so we are all constantly in our own personal worlds, because we now all have jobs and school. <x{
It's tough to have any free time. Most of it is at night before bed. :/ Even then though, my bro is in his room playing online with his friends until like midnight or longer...

Yeaaa, the shadow guy's identity is nnnnot shocking at all! <x'D Pretty pretty obvious! Though, those are what sort of tactics are being used today to propagate, coerce, scare and rally people. <:/ It's kinda ugly and sad to think about.
Although! <x} I can't really say the next Season 4 episodes might make you feel more faith in humanity, they have their own themes! There's also an episode with Anne Francis, who is most known for her role in the Sci Fi cult classic Forbidden Planet. :]

trystan830 09-15-2020 08:25 PM

well, while i spend time with him, it sorta doesn't count.... because he's not really paying attention to the fact that i'm "spending time" with him. but whatever.

well, i'll be watching ALLLLLL of the Twilight Zone - the 80s episodes, the 2002 episodes, as well as the 2019 new ones too... so, yeah. :D

Merskelly Metalien 09-18-2020 12:08 AM

8) OOOOOOOF! That's a LOT of episodes to cover! I wish you luck! <8/ It took me a couple years to do that...

trystan830 09-18-2020 12:27 AM

yeah, it's a lot! but I'll get there eventually!

Merskelly Metalien 09-18-2020 12:41 AM

I think some of the 80s episodes were more memorable to me. :/
The 2002 reboot, sssssorta? <:/ It wasn't very good over all, since it just kept the sci-fi, horror, twist stuff and left out the heart of the episodes. <x) But oh well!

The new ones by Jordan Peele are definitely more original Twilight Zone themed, buuuuut I don't think it really comes close enough to the original. -~- More like it pays homage to it in it's own, present era way. :/

trystan830 09-18-2020 05:51 PM

some of the classics and like one or two of the 80s were... some may come back to me as i watch them. i think i read somewhere that some of the 2002 and current ones were updates of some of the classic ones as well. we shall see.

Ava 09-21-2020 11:13 PM

The Twilight Zone kinda gives me the willies. O_O

My dad is a big fan, though!
I am easily spooked, so things especially like creepy or psychological thrillers can affect me much more than I think it would effect other people. :(

trystan830 09-22-2020 10:09 AM

psychological thrillers aren't for everyone, Ava. you're fine. :)

my younger daughter has watched Criminal Minds - she likes the show, but it's quite scary as well, and she's also easily spooked.

Merskelly Metalien 09-22-2020 01:36 PM

True true! Though I'm glad you managed to get through Nightmare at 20,000 feet Ava! :D
:) There are some sweeter episodes of the Twilight Zone that aren't as creepy or psychological, like One for the Angels and The Mighty Casey from Season 1.

:) One's about an old salesman who encounters death, but death is like a businessman, and he tells him his time has come. But the old salesman wants to make a sales pitch to save his life. The other is about a poor baseball team that gets a new pitcher but he's a robot! :D

Ava 09-22-2020 11:08 PM

Those sound really interesting :O
I wonder who came up with all of those ideas fr each show!!!
O_O

Merskelly Metalien 09-23-2020 02:04 AM

Mostly, it was this dude who did.

:) Mr. Rod Serling. The Narrator in the show, who in season 1 you only hear him speak, and in the other seasons, he appears in a suit and tie, often with a cigarette, to introduce the episode. <X) He wrote MANY of the episodes. :]

Ava 09-23-2020 05:10 PM

Woah! :O
He must have a crazy imagination!

Also, he kinda looks like that guy that everyone has been seeing in their dreams.

Merskelly Metalien 09-23-2020 07:54 PM

:D I think he really just enjoyed science fiction and literature as a person, since he read a lot of it, and admired old sci fi writers. And he was a believer in keeping imagination and fantasy alive, so he likely DID have an active imagination!
:o Also he was a veteran of WWII, so some of his written episodes and screenplays were military in nature, touching on PTSD, how war is romanticized and how it actually is, and the importance of mercy over commanding orders.

Huh. Kinda. :/ Not so much the hair maybe, I think it's the eyebrows. <xD They're infamously thick. haha.

I've written a bunch of short stories, LOTS of fan fic, and i still manage to have plots for NaNo since 2011, so i can see where Rod Serling was coming from!

i have an idea of the world my NaNo for this year will take place in.... i just need some characters. and some plots. XD

Ava 09-24-2020 02:49 PM

Writing is so much fun!

Before I had a computer that connected to the internet, I used to come home from school and spend the whole day just writing. <3
I used to love writing Pokemon fan fiction with Team Rocket. I remember there was one fan fiction I was working on and it got into like 200 pages... but the funny thing is, the plot barely moved. It was mostly just lemons and some random ideas I had here and there for the characters and their journeys.

trystan830 09-24-2020 05:57 PM

when i write fanfic, i write what the voices tell me. no voices, no fic. as a result, i haven't written any fanfic for many (10) years. it's all still at my fic livejournal - remember LJ? XD

when i write for NaNo, i'm pretty much a pantser - i write by the seat of my pants. sometimes there's a little bit of planning - random notes on stickies here and there. last year and the year before i had a map, too.

Merskelly Metalien 09-25-2020 05:47 PM

<x) Since I finished with my Prologue project, I just shifted over to writing out my OTP which WOULD be for fanfiction purposes, but it's only for personal purposes. <n< It would be like embarrassing fanfiction since it's sort of self-insert, but it's not from anything anyone would know, just my own brain. <X)

:D I wrote a hilarious fanfic just for funnies! xD It's a crossover between Naruto, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Spyro, Thomas the Tank Engine, and Jurassic Park... <x'D Why??? I have no idea! Just to see if I could I guess.

trystan830 09-25-2020 06:44 PM

i've written some interesting crossovers, but i doubt that anyone's heard of First Wave or some of the shows i crossed it with, so there's that. XD

Merskelly Metalien 09-26-2020 12:51 AM

I used to write romantic short fan fics for my friends in high school, since we were all into the Organization XIII craze when Kingdom Hearts 368 1/2 days first came out. <u<; I had to stop writing them because they took away from my classwork, and I really didn't want to be asked to write more, AND I didn't always have a private computer to type them on so I literally just handwrote some of them. >.>; Some of them were kinda steamy...

I got into Roleplays then too, on online forums...but I only ever had 1 or 2 friends to actually RP with...

Ava 09-26-2020 02:47 PM

Haha!

Most of my fanfiction was only for my own enjoyment too. I never once posted my Team Rocket fanfics anywhere. I would have been to embarrassed. >u< I also loved writing Inuyasha fan fiction, now, those I did share on Fanfiction.net. That was many years ago, like back in 2006, I think? I also wrote fan fiction for 21 Jumpstreet (The show) and I would never, ever share those stories with anyone!

Roleplaying is so much fun! It's been a while since I've been in any really juicy role-plays, but I hope I can get back into it some day. It's really relaxing for me for the most part.

Merskelly Metalien 10-08-2020 08:15 PM

I'm currently sort of participating in a pirate game on Flight Rising, which is like RP based and it's been fun so far. ^U^ I really miss the back and forth nonsense and fluffy birbs and the sneaky thief boy role. xD
