I read that before it became overly popular
I didn't even know about it until the fourth book came out so I didn't have the chance to XD
Oh wow. I read them before the movies came out
I was able to do that at least. The movies were...kind of good but didn't really compare to the books.
The Harry Potter books are good. <3
If a young adult book is popular, I may want to read it for curiosity's sake just to see what it is like. |
Amber Spyglass was pretty good too, though the end kind of made me sad...
Never heard of it.
I thought it was a pretty good set of books. The movie they made for it kind of failed though...
Hmmm that's cool. sucks about the movie though
Yea, it is too bad. It could have been good but it didn't follow the book enough.
Ahhhh that sucks. I hate it when movies do that
Yea, it kind of just went off on it's own strange tangent.
That's really weird!
I didn't like the His Dark Materials books that much -- especially the last third of the Amber Spyglass.
The problem with the movie -- the Golden Compass -- was that it only covered the first book. That was not all that good a place to stop the trilogy's continuous story. |
That sounds odd. I've meant to read the golden compass... but i never have.
I still liked them. The ending was REALLY sad in my eyes though.
I suppose the ending was sad, but it could have been sadder.
I still like Harry Potter and Narnia better. |
I really like the Tamora Pierce books. Those are still by far some of my favorite books. And I love Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson books.
I'm a huge Tamora Pierce fan. I must have read all the Tortall books a million times over.
Me too!!! Oh my gosh! I love them so much! I really need to get new copies of a few of the books because they're falling apart from how loved they are.
Lol no kidding! My first Alanna book fell into three pieces the other day x3 I have read it too many times.
Someone gave them to me for Christmas when I was ten and I devoured them. I still read them at 21 x3 |
I started them when I was 11 and still read them and im almost 22. They were the first books I really liked.
I haven't read Beka's yet, although I'm dying to. Have you?
@Angel, Yes, that's true, and Narnia books rate very high for me since I've read them about a dozen times...
@Mal and Airi, I've never heard of those books, what are they about? |
I like Tamora Pierce's books, too. <3
I feel like reading some more of them soon. The Redwall ones by Brian Jacques are great as well. |
Ohhh, Redwall...I love those. I have several of them :3 I wonder if I should read them again...hmm...
I need to read some more of them since I have not kept up with them.
Robin Hobb is a solid favorite, for sure. Excellent books.
Mal: I've read the first Beka book and own the second but I haven't really gotten into them as much as the others.
Serra: The Tortal series by Tamora Pierce is a now 5 series long series. If that makes any sense. It's set in a land that's kind of like Europe. It is set in Medieval times. The first series is about a girl who masquerades as her brother so she can become a knight. The second is about a girl who has magic associated with animals. The third is about a girl who wants to become a knight and is the first to try since the girl in the first series. Then the fourth is about the girl in the first series daughter. And then the fifth series is about the ancestor of the first series' girl's husband. There's magic, immortal animals, and lots of awesome things! I love them so much! |
I'm currently reading Eldest. The book after Eragon. It's pretty good.
I've never gotten into those books I've tried so many times....
The books you're describing sounds so familiar Airi...makes me wonder if I read them before.
I liked Eragon okay when it came out but by the time the third one came out I had lost interest. I don't even know how many are out now. That and the movie kind of bombed.
I think there are four in the Eragon series now.
The movie of it was pretty good. It should not be compared to the book much, though, just like the Earthsea movies and books. |
I personally liked the movie as someone who has never read the books.
And who knows maybe you have Serra? |
Tamora Pierce sounds familiar. Not sure why but then again I did used to work in a bookstore.
Its one of my favorite book series. I really need to go to bed soon.
Yes I bet you do. I don't feel like it yet. Mostly because I have nothing to look forward to and I'm not really tired :p
I have work to look forward to in the morning --- putting cherries on cherry top cookies as they head off to bake.
As much as I'd enjoy working around cookies, I don't have NEAR enough self control to do so.
