I'm super happy that it's October now!
I love Halloween <3

And then there is me. Impatiently waiting for Christmas.
TRA LA LA LA LA! LA LA LA LA!

Eh-hem.

Boo.

Ava 10-03-2019 04:32 PM

Christmas isn't the same anymore for me..
I grew up in Minnesota, where it snowed a lot even in October.

Now, here in LA, there's no snow. So it doesn't feel like Christmas. :(
We don't even put up a tree anymore. There's no point

Burnt Rice 10-03-2019 04:39 PM

I don't know what to say to you Ava. ):< Christmas is always a glorious time no matter the conditions. On a random note, I always felt that celebrating Christmas during the summer was somehow wrong. It confused me that the countries in the southern hemisphere would celebrate new years at the same time the northern would. Even to this day, it hurts my brain.

But I bet it's super nice to have your holidays during the summer. Going swimming with Santa would probably be so much fun!

I have a spectacular loathing for places that start playing Christmas music in OCTOBER. I personally don't start playing it until Black Friday, because of working retail, and having to listen to the same songs every fucking day.

Ava 10-03-2019 04:45 PM

I guess since I grew up and spent nearly my entire life in snow, it feels like blasphemy to celebrate Christmas in the summer lol

It gets annoying sometimes when it drops to 60F here and everyone thinks it's cold!

Back in Minnesota, when it got to 40s people would wear shorts and tank tops and flip flops..
Even thought the snow hadn't even completely melted lol

I'm in the midwest, and my boyfriend lives in California. If the winter didn't make my body HURT so much (or at all), I'd be more fond of snowy Christmases. as it is, I prefer Christmas out in California, partially because of the warmer weather, and partially because his family makes me feel valued as a person.

Burnt Rice 10-03-2019 05:35 PM

The rule for Christmas music is that you need to wait for November 11th to pass. You can't start up jolly music when you've got Remembrance Day around the corner. And to be safe, you got to wait a day after. Super rude to start it any earlier than the 11th.

trystan830 10-03-2019 05:56 PM

xmas starts on Black Friday for me. (neverminding my xmas tree is still up from two years ago... but it has fall leaves garlands on it XD )

uhm, yeah. Xmas starts the day after the US Thanksgiving. my younger daughter says it starts November 1st. and the craft store i work in has had xmas stuff since august. *sigh*

Ava 10-03-2019 07:49 PM

Honestly, I used to celebrate Christmas on Nov. 1st.
Thanksgiving isn't really a thing my family celebrates.

So we kinda skip it and head straight to the Christmas things right after Halloween.

But not lately, as we now live in California and there's no weather changes each season...

Christmas feels like just another day in the life nowadays.

Burnt Rice 10-03-2019 08:39 PM

Yeah... But shops supplying Christmas gear early isn't a bad thing imo. Some people like to get ready early for the festivities since it's easier to go holiday shopping outside of the holidays. Less crowds, prices are usually better, and it's easier to budget into your daily life. Plus having some decorations when the nights grow longer makes it nicer to be outside.
I'd rather have shops selling me Christmas stuff a bit earlier than have to fight crowds for that last wrapping paper come December.

trystan830 10-03-2019 10:37 PM

good point okok..... but we keep selling xmas stuff earlier and earlier. same with halloween. we were actually sold out of a halloween item in late august! o_O

Burnt Rice 10-03-2019 10:48 PM

That's probably the reason it gets sold earlier and earlier. The demand is there, why not sell it? I guess I don't have a problem with shops trying to earn money regardless of season. It's mostly the songs that play on a loop that get annoying if they start too early.

trystan830 10-03-2019 10:51 PM

i completely agree about the music, yes.

Kitalpha Hart 10-04-2019 02:00 AM

Treemas music can wait for december for me
