I got Skyrim the other day but sadly my video card is not up to the task (suspected that but thought I'd try. I love Elder Scrolls games. I can always get Oblivion in the meantime until I get a new comp).

Didn't get past the first cutscene before problems hit but I did make my character. After three hours of on and off tweaking I think the process might be a little excessive. For once I didn't make a Khajit first character. I tried, but they didn't have the features I was hoping for. I fiddled around but didn't get a character I was satisfied with. I miss the different ear styles that you can get in Morrowind.

Had the same issue with hair and war paint for my nord. Gave up on the warpaint and just went with scars and passable hair. Maybe it's the snow (here and in game) but I couldn't help but thing that those would be cold hairstyles!

Anyone else want to kill the redguard captain lady?

Has anyone been to the dungeon called Alftland/Blackreach yet? Incredible. Absolutely incredible. Frozen cave leads to derelict Dwemer ruin leads to sprawling, cavernous, majestic subterranean city lit by bioluminesence complete with an underground river and waterfall. Simply breathtaking.

In other news, I fought my first two dragons at once today, they decided to descend on the village of Rorikstead. Was epic. Shadowmere held off the generic Elder Dragon while I took on the named one. Unfortunately, the village mayor lost his life tragically in the attack.

Then, after that, I was attacked by 4 four more dragons over the course of the next hour. Of course, I'm wielding the Dragonbane katana I got from the Blades' temple now, so they go down really quickly.

I off-hand the Blade of Woe which is just brutal on sneak attacks. Also have an Exquisite Ebony Bow, Epic Elven Longsword of the Blaze (+25 fire damage!), and Dawnbreaker forged to Exquisite -- which makes undead explode!

I so love my Ancient Shrouded Armor...

I didn't really get into Oblivion, but I really liked Morrowind and played one of the older Elder Scrolls Games. I modded my Morrowind to death, mostly for nicer graphics, but I loved the plot and game play.

That being said, I have mixed feelings about Skyrim. I'll probably wait to see what kind of reaction it gets before I buy it.

Obbiesan 11-27-2011 07:29 PM

Im not too far in only about lvl 20 ish jus finished theifs guild line Dat nightengale armor its soooo sexy. Im using mehrunes Razor and a Superior Elven dagger im pretty much one shot anything i find when i sneak attack it o3o

Suzerain of Sheol 11-27-2011 09:01 PM

Do you have the gloves from the Dark Brotherhood yet? Those *double* melee sneak attack damage. I have literally never had something survive a sneak attack from even one of my daggers, let alone both of them.

Obbiesan 11-28-2011 03:12 PM

I have them but i love the nightengale armor cause i more sneaky i avoid killing when i can so the lock pick really helps. Plus the armor looks awesome ^^;; also i sometimes use a sword main hand so that 15% helps

I've been using the Ebony Blade that you get from the Whispering Door Quest, I've been mainly focusing on the Daedra quests trying to get all of that cool stuff!

I've ran in to a glitch in the main quest line though. I didn't start the Join The StormCloaks Quest until I got the Peace Treaty Quest, where you have to make Ulfric and the Legion General go to a Peace Conference with the Grey Beards, so now everytime that I talk to Ulfric, he tells me to finish the quest for the Jagged Crown, but I can't get that Quest from his Lackey as he won't talk to me about it. He just babbles about me getting Ulfric to accept the Peace Treaty (when I didn't yet) :(

Any ideas on how to fix that at all? I've started a new character, so I may just focus on her instead...
:D

Suzerain of Sheol 11-29-2011 07:36 PM

I have no idea -- I'm 60 hours in and haven't touched the Stormcloaks quest. :p

I've been kind of disappointed with the Daedric quests so far. Being a light armor/one-handed assassin, a lot of the items aren't of that much use to me. I just got Boethiah's Ebony Mail, which is really cool, but I can't use it.

So far Dawnbreaker is my favorite artifact. Makes undead 'splode!

Not being a mage, even the Black Star isn't of much use to me. :(

TurtleSensei 11-29-2011 08:35 PM

Yeah I understand that! I'm a Light Armor, 1 sword, 1 spell type of person lol. And just be careful then in that quest! Do the StormCloaks' first 2 Quests BEFORE you do the Time Rift Quest (after you get the Elder Scroll)

I've so far only gotten Azura's Star, the Ebony Armor, and the Ebony Blade. I'm looking for a Tutorial at the moment for all of the Daedric Quests. Oh wait, I also have Molag Bal's Mace. That was pretty cool actually!

Quiet Man Cometh 11-29-2011 09:17 PM

Success! I fixed my cutscene problem, or rather, it fixed itself after I finally got around to upgrading to Windows 7. Mouse lag hit but I used the ini file tweak for that and it's mostly better now. It's not the best so far but my comp isn't up to par either so it's adequate as long as I slow my running down a little to not zoom ahead of my mouse.

Playing a little on my brother's computer. Level 5 and partway into the first dungeon. I've done more menial tasks like cooking and smithing and such than much else. I haven't found a whole lot of kill outside of bandits but in a way it's nice not to be attacked every thirty feet by something. I really like that they made things like alchemy so much easier. I like the little stations much better to play around with then toting 80 pounds of alchemical equipment around or getting it when you want to try a potion. I've made several potions already that are actually useful!

And the elf thing, yeah, Nords just don't like elves. It came up back in Morrowind too.

Never played Oblivion either. Just Morrowind and Daggerfall. I haven't finished either. Our Daggerfall copy was glitched so we never could finish the main quest, which didn't stop us from playing the game in the slightest, and in Morrowind I just haven't gotten around to it yet. ;)

Suzerain of Sheol 11-29-2011 09:50 PM

As if the main quest has anything to do with the finishing these games. :p

I hit level 40 today, I have a feeling my leveling is going to slow down soon since most of my main skills are close to hitting 100. I doubt I'll get past 50 sincce I'm really focusing on the assassin archetype with this character, don't want to branch out into magic/heavy armor just to level.

I do wish the Thieve's Guild would give me more respect. I mean I'm the Listener of the Brotherhood, I'm wearing Epic Ancient Shrouded Armor, I have 95 sneak and 80 lockpicking... and Vex feels the need to boast about how she's the sneakiest person in the guild to me. Yeah, right.

Quiet Man Cometh 11-29-2011 09:53 PM

Maybe Skyrim doesn't have a script for her being not that way. Have you beat her rank?

Suzerain of Sheol 11-29-2011 09:59 PM

Nope, I'm still a newbie. Which is what I'm saying, I should start off higher just because I'm the best assassin in Skyrim. >_>

Serra Britt 11-29-2011 10:13 PM

Yea Suzerain...you're too proud of it to be the best :p

Suzerain of Sheol 11-29-2011 10:15 PM

Compared to what, the Dark Brotherhood guys who come after you and try to assassinate you by CONFRONTING YOU ON A ROAD IN BROAD DAYLIGHT, AND ANNOUNCING THAT THEY'RE GOING TO (try to) KILL YOU? :p

Not much competition. :D
