"Gonna have to," said Randy. "The only way out of it'd be if they determined she wat'n special class... an' that don't look too likely so far."
"What if she regrets it?" Kurt asked.
"I'd just hafta make sure she understands why it was done an' why it's important," Randy replied softly.
"What if that's not good enough?" Kurt asked.
Randy frowned. "Then I donno. Sometimes there just ain't nothin' else you can do."
"She'll probably be scared and upset, you think you can deal with that?" Kurt asked.
Randy nodded. "Gonna have to," he repeated.
Kurt gave him a pat, "I know you'll do a good job, little Randy loves you a lot and I think you can get her through anything,".
"She got a lot ahead of 'er," said Randy. "At least I already been through most of it myself."
"I know you'll both be fine," said Kurt giving him a kiss.
Randy nodded. "Was kinda thinkin' I might have at least one more someday, though, you know?"
Kurt nodded and gave him a pat, "Yeah, at least you got to have as many as you did," he said.
Randy smiled again. "Eight ain't bad at all. Nine if you count Bert."
"You really like that Bert, don't you?" Kurt asked.
"'Course I do," said Randy. "I love 'im."
"He's grown a lot in such a short time," said Kurt.
"I know, right? He done got big on me." Randy grinned. "And I'm lovin' the little beard."
"Seems to suit him," said Kurt, he peered into the water and cast in his net, "Hang on, I think I see a big one!" he gave a strong heave and pulled up....Burt.
"Eugh!" Randy recoiled. "Throw it back!"
Burt gurgled and threw up on Randy's shoe.
Randy's eyes widened and he kicked Burt in the head with said shoe.
Kurt grabbed Burt and tossed him back over the side, "Well that's our first catch wasted...."
Randy curled his lip and gave his foot a shake. "Less try the other side for a while..."
Kurt nodded and steered the boat a little further out before he threw in the net again.
This time it came up with fish, and after a time they'd collected a decent amount. But the further they went, the closer they got to something else lurking beneath the water...
Kurt threw the net in once more and this time it was nearly wrenched from his hands.
"Whatchoo got?" Randy peered over the side of the boat, hoping to catch sight of a large fish. He was surprised to see a tentacle nearly the length of the boat rising from the water...
"Holy Hell, I think I caught the damn kraken! " said Kurt as he struggled with the net, "Hold on! I brought a harpoon just in case we ran into some sharks!"
Randy took hold of the net just as more giant tentacles rose and began to encircle the boat.
Kurt grabbed the one harpoon spear and threw another to Randy then he dove into the water, intent on attacking the creature.
With a loud screech, Randy dove in after him as the tentacles writhed and attempted to capture them both.
Kurt dodged and weaved around the thrashing tentacles until he came face to face with the creature's eye. Raising his harpoon he struck.
The water darkened in a cloud of blood and ink, tentacles writhing in all directions and grasping whatever they could find in desperation--including Kurt. Through the blackness it was struck with a second harpoon, and finally began to still...
Kurt disentangled himself from a tentacle and swam to the surface. He let out a triumphant howl and quickly used the net to secure the creature to the boat.
Randy did likewise, though he took the end of one tentacle with him for snacking.
"I think that's going to be enough food for this clam bake," said Kurt, "Some of it's going in my jambalaya for sure!"
"Mm... Gonna need lotsa pepper," Randy remarked as he chewed on a bit of the raw tentacle.
"Should keep the whole beach fed if we add it to everything else," said Kurt.
"Uh huh." Randy reached over the side of the boat to grab another piece.
"Unless of course you eat it all before we get to shore," said Kurt.
