Probably not...but there probably will be a limit...I'm just not sure if I would be able to keep up with two characters...(I'm not very good at RPs)...

Gallagher 07-20-2012 11:56 PM

Ahh.

Hm. If it were allowed, I certainly have another character that would serve well as a nurse. Def not the type I'd want as my primary character, though.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 12:02 AM

So you have a squib parent, is the other parent a muggle or a witch/wizard?
Or possibly even something more impressive like a veela?

Kali_Namir 07-21-2012 12:04 AM

I may try to do two characters...My teacher would probably be my main though...since you had a point about the Headmistress being very busy and hardly ever seen other than feasts, emergencies and the such...I guess my History Professor could be Deputy Headmistress, and mostly take charge when necessary...

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 12:07 AM

Could the Headmistress also have a lot of important governmental/other responsibilities that keeps her away from the school for long periods of time?
She could get a magic mirror installed in her Office so that she can take calls from students or faculty if needed.

Kali_Namir 07-21-2012 12:17 AM

That might actually work well...(Really has no clue if she could truly keep up with two different personalities)

Gallagher 07-21-2012 12:20 AM

The other parent will be a half-blood witch/wizard, haven't decided which it is yet. Mixing the uncommon squib with anything more impressive is going a touch too far for my tastes. Not trying to make a mary sue.

Thinking reasonably, secondary roles like headmistress, caretakers, nurse, etc. would only be called upon in certain circumstances, and otherwise be very minor. Even the teachers wouldn't be constant, though more so than secondary roles. The focus first and foremost should be on the students, and other characters don't need to be constantly posting, so long as they can be where they need to when called upon.

The headmistress, I'd imagine, would spend the majority of their time in the office. Most responsibilities, while needing time and attention, could have those involved meet there, or be taken through letters and the like.

Headmistress and a teacher should, in an ideal world, have fairly minimal posting requirements. Even combined, it needs more keeping track of others than your own posting.

Kali_Namir 07-21-2012 12:22 AM

True, but with the topic of the RP (Muggle in the school)...one of them would have a more prominent roll...

I guess I could re-surface my long dead student character...haven't gotten to use her in a long time though...

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 12:35 AM

And that's me! In my new Muggle Clothes!

Kali_Namir 07-21-2012 12:38 AM

Nice...

This is pretty much my long-dead Slytherin B***h character...

Gallagher 07-21-2012 12:40 AM

...

I'm a monster.

Rawr.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 12:43 AM

*screams in fear* I'm a muggle and what is this?!

Kali_Namir 07-21-2012 12:45 AM

"EWWWWS...Who let a filthy Muggle into the school!?"

-Runs off to fetch a professor-

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 12:50 AM

*calls after* The real question is how do I even know what a muggle is?

Ultima 07-21-2012 12:52 AM

Whoa. Just the statement of "I am a muggle" is almost a paradox o.0

(If you are the parent/sibling of a muggle-born, then I guess it's not. But usually it would be.)

Kali_Namir 07-21-2012 12:54 AM

Lols...let us save the plot for the RP...for now we can just help everyone with their character creating...

I guess I can just play my Slytherin girl...and then make me a Headmistress character for muffle instances...

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 12:57 AM

Hmm... That might be a good way that I got into Hogwarts. The power of Paradoxes... Which possibly means time travel...

Airina 07-21-2012 10:29 AM

I dont know exactly what to do for my slytherin character.....

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 10:35 AM

*shrug* be a pure-blood?

Airina 07-21-2012 10:36 AM

I kinda want to be a half blood just because I can. And to show that half bloods really do exist in slytherin.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 10:39 AM

You'll catch a lot of flack from your house-mates if you do that...

But she's your character.

Airina 07-21-2012 10:42 AM

I'm aware. But just the idea of doing that seems really fun especially with kali's character. So she's a half blood with a father who is a muggle born and a pureblood mother who comes from a long line of slytherins.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 10:56 AM

So you'll be friends?

Kali_Namir 07-21-2012 01:46 PM

Who knows at this point...

My character is a pure-blood with an extensive family tree, and not much tolerance for muggles...

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 01:48 PM

I can't wait to start this then. It's going to be so much fun.

Kali_Namir 07-21-2012 01:55 PM

The comical thing is that my user name on everything if the name of my character!

Lols...

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 02:03 PM

Kali Namir? Interesting name.

Kali_Namir 07-21-2012 02:16 PM

I wanted it to be unique, but by no way sound that mugglesque...

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 02:35 PM

And I'm Luna, which is a perfectly magical name, thank you very much!

Gallagher 07-21-2012 03:14 PM

There have been a fair share of half-bloods in Slyth, though I have to admit a lot have probably lied about their blood status, too. The Malfoys themselves have been known to even marry muggles, and plenty of lines have married half-bloods to, erm, avoid becoming like the Gaunts.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 03:32 PM

Wait... I thought the Malfoys were a fully-pure blood family?

Gallagher 07-21-2012 03:54 PM

They regularly mingled and married high status Muggles before the statute of secrecy. That's what gave them so much wealth. The families simply lie about the parts of their family that aren't up to par and put attention to the parts that are. The Malfoy views are mostly along the lines of if the grandparents were all magical, you're pure.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 04:02 PM

Ah. Nao that is something I would have loved to rub in the slimy... rotten... something something insults, blondy.

Gallagher 07-21-2012 04:10 PM

I liked Draco. He could have been better if he knew a bit more of the truth about matters.

But yeah. At first when the secrecy thing came out, they didn't want to have to cut ties, because it meant they lost some of the power and wealth they were gaining from their interactions with muggles... Only the best muggles, mind. But still, when they did agree, they completely and utterly denied that aspect of their family history.

... In any case, I do hope we have a realistic ratio of pure bloods to half bloods.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 04:16 PM

Wonder if that means we won't have the watered down Rowling versions of the Deathly Hallows?

Gallagher 07-21-2012 04:23 PM

-shrug- Personally, I'm almost always a fan of turning things a bit more realistic or, if possible, darker.

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 04:26 PM

I read a really interesting HP F/SN crossover that had the Hallows actually being deaths tools. As far in as I'd read it was really interesting.

That one wandmaker that Dumbledore stole the Deathstick from had studied it and created similar wands, one that is powered by Passion and the other powered by Peace.
The Passion wand could easily kill you because if you cast a spell, you must WANT to have the effect, or the wand will not even work, and when it does work, it'll eat up as much magic as it can to make the spell more powerful.

Gallagher 07-21-2012 04:36 PM

Mmm, wands...

I love wands so much, I even make my friend draw wand designs for me~

Which reminds meee... I have to come up with my oc's wand still... Hmm...

Lunaryon 07-21-2012 04:41 PM

It should be the most un-wandish wand in the world! Like... a CUBE!!!

Airina 07-22-2012 12:56 AM

I feel so far behind everyone.... Oh wells....
